Damn, that's terrible. Have to imagine that's a career ender, not to mention a life-altering in general.

looking at the Italian teams for Olympics, i was wondering how Is it possible that Ganna will race the TT and not the RR? wasn't it mandatory?

I assume he'll cover the track side of things instead, that's a legal combo too.

Major transfer news today, Soudal leaves Lotto and joins Quick Step as main sponsor.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Omega Pharma-Quick Step did sound phonetically better than Soudal-Quick Step though. |

Major bit to note here "From 2023"
So that's no quick cash injection for upcoming transfers, and crucially for Lotto-Soudal riders they get a whole year to plan themselves.
Will be interesting to see what this means for Lotto, Lotto Ladies & Lotto Development. Hopefully they can bring in a replacement in the coming 18months to secure their status and history

Well, now there's also rumours Deceunick will be sponsoring Lotto in 2023

Absolutely, rolled off the tongue so nicely, especially I can still hear it in the tone and cadence of the legend Paul Sherwen

Well, the Belgian National Lottery will continue to fund the team, but for how long they would want to fund it alone?

I mean they'll have a year to look for another name sponsor. Considering that they have well established marketing channels and they already have contracts for 2023 with a couple of riders I think we can assume that they expect to be able to run the team beyond 2023.

They should easily find a co-sponsor in cycling crazy Belgium. Not nice to poach a sponsor from Lefevre, similar what Vaughters has been doing a few times. But to be fair, I would also prefer to be associated with Quick Step, Remco and endless wins rather than their current outfit, which has De Gendt, Wellens and a whole lot of meh.

DSM have denied van Wilder would break his contract, but it is odd that somehow this news/rumour/whatever it was happened to be reported by the press. One thing’s certain, there are some edgy things still existing in the backstage of the team. |
