I like that we haven't seen a single mountain yet but we already have decided on a overall winner

Unless Pogocar crashes out or cracks unbelievably hard for some reason, this race is over.

no way to beat Pogacar if he doesn't crash out

If other DS haven't finally learnt something about race tactics, it is over. But if they play it smart, Team UAE can definitely be challenged. And if Pogi has to do ALL the work on his own, I can't see him not crack at some time.

But yeah, I definitely hate those lightweight climbers beating the TTers on such a course... OK if it's on stage 20, but on day 5?

Vingegaard is looking quite good too, not sure how Roglic will feel on the big mountain stages but this man can potentially step up for a wildcard role. Wouldn’t be surprised if he ended up on the podium. Pfft

I'll break the pattern a bit... Grin
Impressive performance by Jonas Vingegaard.

P.S. Posted right after Freitas, so not much pattern breaking. Smile

I get that feeling that the race will play out like this year's Giro, Pogačar might have a bad day like Bernal did on Sega di Ala but still have a comfortable enough margin to win the race by the time they reach Paris.

Pogacar again  Climber beating Küng and WVA, another out of this world performance by this guy. So up in the dope.

Also welcome back strydz!

Race is far from over, but I think he can go thermo all the way to Paris. Then again who knows what Ineos might have up in their sleeve and if Roglic might finally show some panache now that he is far in the backseat.

I don't think the profile is hard enough to make Pogacar crack, Giro had some brutal climbs that aren't here in le tour

I get real strong 99-00 Armstrong vibes from Pogacar last year and this, although without the insane comeback side.
But given i sit firmly on the side we have not had a clean GT winner in... err... maybe ever it's not a major issue.

All i do hope is that someone can bring something of a fight to the table, and that we won't know until the first mountain days.

In the mean time, i'm just routing for Cav to be a sensation and crack Merckx's stage wins record! Another sprint win and it's in touching distance with some smart breakaways this year and even next.

And, that's a relegation

Edit: On replay it's definitely not an aggressive move, but he had the whole right side of the road and clearly tried to cut them off.

Getting annoyed by Alpecin going for Philipsen when Merlier is definitely the faster sprinter.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

I'm not sure if that's a relegation. It was more a case of Alpecin screwing up to be fair

TheManxMissile
Two to go! That outright record is so close!

Wasn't easy, Alpecin with a great challenge and proving more wins are not guaranteed.

Alpecin - Fenix totally screwed that up. Merlier led out for too long.

It was almost like Merlier tried to prove to Philipsen that "I am stronger than you, you struggle to even come round me"

Yeah, the more I watched, it's more like they came together than he cut them off, and Alpecin had no clear push. Looked worse when I first saw it.

And Alpecin didn't also slide their 3rd man directly into the DQS train?

It was close, but Philippesn himself was trying to come across, they just met in the middle ontop of Merlier. Minimal contact, if any, not forcing Jasper to slow, nice and clean for me (just! I imagine Bouhanni in the same case would have darted sharper and harder into Merlier. Cav has a light touch #nobias)
