The Deutschland Tour continues on the MG calendar as one the hallmark races. The race has been run in its current version since 2018. Both those editions have been won by Jerome Coppel, who does not ride this time.
The race consists of the deciding ITT on Stage 3 sandwiched by four flat stages, two each before and after the decider. The sprinters get four shots at glory and they'll be surely targeting the Points jersey as well. The GC though should belong to the Time Trialists unless mayhem ensues on the flats!
| FLA | TT | RES | Phinney | 73 | 83 | 74 | Würtz | 77 | 82 | 78 | Zmorka | 74 | 82 | 75 | Fiedler | 78 | 82 | 74 | Keizer | 72 | 81 | 79 | Vlatos | 72 | 81 | 71 | Kittel | 75 | 81 | 70 | Sütterlin | 71 | 80 | 77 | Gonzalez Salas | 70 | 80 | 76 | Viennet | 72 | 80 | 75 | Schädlich | 70 | 80 | 71 | Viviani | 78 | 79 | 77 | Mullen | 75 | 79 | 74 | Mottin | 69 | 79 | 74 | Kwok | 76 | 79 | 73 | Brändle | 75 | 79 | 73 | Robert | 67 | 79 | 70 | Van Winden | 73 | 79 | 68 |
Some of the best Time Trailists from the PT and the PCT will ride this race. Top favourite among them is Taylor Phinney who is anything but 'just' a Time Trailist! Isostar have been on a glorious run in recent races and this is yet another chance for them to take another step towards PT glory.
On the other end of the PT spectrum, Wurtz will be hoping to carry his team away from relegation danger with a solid result from this race. Along with Zmorka and Fielder, the trio should be the nearest rivals to Phinney in the Time Trial and the overall.
Keizer too carries the hopes of his almost doomed team on his shoulders, but he's perhaps not to be considered a top favourite but more along the lines of a Top 5 contender. The same goes for Vlatos and Kittel, the latter having put in some much better performances in recent race.
Neither of Sutterlin nor Viennet have had a season to remember while Gonzalez Salas and Schadlich have been much more confident. They should be Top 10 contenders, and might push for a Top 5 place on a good day.
Three riders represent King Power in the lower reaches of the favourites list - Viviani, Brandle and Van Winden. They have gone for the quantity over top quality strategy but depth scoring could very well work out for them.
Mottin and Kwok have the task of putting in a good performance to help their respective teams' fight against relegation in their divisions.
Mullen will hope to become for more consistent starting with this race.
| FLA | RES | SPR | ACC | Coquard | 73 | 74 | 84 | 83 | Kennaugh | 77 | 71 | 82 | 81 | Groenewegen | 73 | 71 | 82 | 81 | Howard | 76 | 70 | 82 | 79 | Vanderbiest | 74 | 69 | 82 | 77 | Avelino | 70 | 65 | 82 | 77 | Guarnieri | 75 | 75 | 81 | 80 | Manninen | 74 | 75 | 81 | 80 | Cavendish | 71 | 68 | 81 | 78 | Appollonio | 74 | 66 | 81 | 78 | Boeckmans | 72 | 70 | 80 | 82 | Goss | 72 | 68 | 80 | 75 |
Four opportunities for the sprinters and a strong bunch have arrived in Germany to try and knock off stage wins.
Coquard is the absolute top favourite with him being clearly faster than everyone else. His team will want this to translate into stage wins.
Kennaugh has been in red hot form this season and will hope to continue that run. Groenewegen on the other hand, has not had a great season and will look to improve for the sake of his team's survival. Howard, as always has been consistent and will look to build on it.
Vanderbiest and Goss make a decent double attack for Indosat.
Avelino will hope to improve his season in this race. Manninen and Guarnieri are two more riders who've been incredible so far this season. This race provides four more reasons to shine, despite perhaps not being as fast as some of the other mentioned already.
Appolonio leads for Volvo and their relegation battle in the absence of Ahlstrand. Same is the case for Boeckmans, who'll look to sign off his season with a good showing, having already done well for his team so far.
Cavendish will look to upset a few odds and turn back the clock to have another taste of glory.
| FLA | RES | SPR | Andersen | 81 | 78 | 76 | Brockhoff | 79 | 76 | 62 | Ji | 79 | 68 | 66 | Viviani | 78 | 77 | 71 | Fiedler | 78 | 74 | 65 | Cherkasov | 78 | 73 | 69 | Mas | 78 | 71 | 71 | Veyhe | 78 | 69 | 56 |
A prime race for the roluers, with Andersen definitely one to watch out for in the closing parts of stages. Brockhoff is also known for similar attacks, with Cherkasov and Veyhe no stranger to being fearless either.

Hope for a good result here! Would have liked the TT to be even later in the race and a bit longer, but hopefully Würtz somewhat weak prl stat won't have a big influence.
Phinney the big favourite, as always, but hope we can challenge him and also have some depth scoring. The semi-hard flat stages should in theory be quite good for our main riders as well.

Basically all about Groenewegen here. Really can't need another race of top 20s by him. |

Is this the race Wurtz finally beats Phinney?

It’s all about the sprints for us! I believe this is Guarnieri’s last race this season. Hopefully he has one last great performance in him! Some good opponents on the startlist, but we have to aim high and try to compete for the points jersey.
Looking forward to the reports!

Let's hope we can do well in breakaways here Vangstad's season has been poor compared to earlier years, and with such a packed field, we can't expect much here. And with no sprinter, we need to be aggressive and get into the breakaways. The KoM jersey must be a target here, but that's always tricky and very AI dependant.
Thank you for the preview, Abhi! Phinney the obvious favourite, and he could make it very, very hard for Evonik to ever catch up in the fight for the PT title with a strong performance here. |

Go go Phinney!!
As for us it's mostly about Boeckmans in what is his last race. Hoping for either one great performance from him, or consistent placing on all 4 stages and some extra scoring from the pts classification.
Mottin can hopefully carry on his recent form. But I wouldn't be surprised if he has a decent TT and then gets dropped on one of the tougher flat stages
As always my lineup isn't that great, but maybe Penko or Groselj can sneak into the top 50 and grab a few U25 pts
Thanks for the preview Abhi

Couldnt have written it any better. Between this and ToNE, Isostar has all the chances to seal the deal right now. I hate to cheer against Isostar but it would be really benefitial if some sort of break wins it here. Go Grieg i guess?
A Big Thank You To All MG Reporters!

Well, I was hoping to score about as much as Festina here with Sütterlin+Politt vs Vlatos...
Sorry SotD, but now I gotta hope Coquard gets the best sprinter curse here and doesn't kill our Top 3 chances already.
Considering what's on the line, I would very much enjoy one of Helme/Egger/Madouas/Niu/Sagiv to challenge for the KoM jersey from breaks, they're all perfectly suited to such a task and we REALLY need to give that path to easy points a try here and there (particularly looking at how Isostar always makes the best out of weak lineups).

Hope we can get something here from Robert and Avelino but not expecting too much if I’m being realistic.

Hopefully Howard will be back at his better. He's not been impressing this year, but yes, consistent. No shot at the GC, so we got the same situation as for TONE: at least try and get some stage results!

You are right it's all about the quantity for my team I hope at least one of my three options will have a good day in the time trial. So far this tactic was not overly successful as time trial races have been quite underwhelming for my team this season.
Other than that I have some breakaway specialists at the race, so should there be a stage going to the break I hope my team will be a part of it.
Thanks for the preview! |

Good to see that the guys are being near the front towards the end, though they obviously lack a bit in pure sprinting skills. Thrilling fight for the win and a great one for Manninnen to start the race.

Good 6th place for Cav (not sure how he manages to beat Coquard?) and amazingly Kraftwerk are leading the Team competition after the 2 chasing at 3km finished in the top 15.
Thanks for the report Abhi and congrats to Vailo.
