That comes unexpected.
Haven`t thought to see him in a professional race again. Definitely not that early neither.
Though I would be surprised to see him back on his old level. Similar as Andy Schleck after his issues, I would expect him to ride for mainly fun reasons and not so much for pressure to win races again. |

Really happy for him. I was never a fan, but you don't wish mental issues for anyone.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Quickstep will extend their sponsorship through 2027. Maybe it will put an end to Lefevere always being dramatic about their team's future.
Personally, I really love to see long time sponsors stay in the sport and continue the legacy of certain teams. I appreciate the investment, and I honestly think the best way to show that we want more money in cycling is to show that it works whenever possible. I know if I ever need flooring some day, Quick-Step will be the first company I look into.

Great news indeed, I still like them from the good old Mapei - Quick Step days. Definitely one of the most appreciated sponsors in cycling.
Lefevre not hiding:

Lefevre also putting up a good show for Sagan "I want him but I can't afford him, let alone Juraj, Oss and Bodnar". Give it a few weeks and Sagan will join QS with his own private sponsor

Sagan still getting paid by Specialized since he is with Bora? Then Quick Steppers should be easy choice for all parties except if Specialized no longer wants to write the huge paycheck themselves.

European Track Cycling Championships - Cancelled
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cycling/5...g/57269531
The event was due to be held in Minsk, Belarus, at the end of June. A major pre-Olympics test run for teams and riders won't take place due the insane inhumane murdering dictator currently strangling the country (my words, not the BBC's obviously).
The UEC is exploring alternatives, and the championships could still take place in another nation, but with such small time scales involved and the ongoing pandemic i wouldn't hold much hope to see the full scale champs this side of the summer.
I know most of you don't follow track cycling, but ahead of the Olympics this is big news and a major disruption. But without major events for the USA or Aus taking place either we are still looking at a fairly level build-up ahead of the Games.

Belarus is getting into hot waters over the past 10-12 months. They've already lost the hosting rights to the IIHF Men's Ice Hockey World Championships (they were scheduled to share the rights with Latvia, who ended up hosting it on their own) and were disqualified from the Eurovision Song Contest due to the song in question not complying with EBU's standards (i.e. being a propaganda song) and the (pro-Lukashenko) band being very unapologetic about the political messeages in the song. And now with the surrounding kerfuffle regarding the "hijacked" plane, just because it had anti-Lukashenko activist on board, Belarus is in huge mess. And to be honest I wouldn't be shocked if Belarus is expelled from any major international competitions such as the Olympics (though qualified athletes can still compete as neutral athletes) and the FIFA World Cup

Lennard Kämna suffering from health problems will take a break from competition and probably return in the second half of the year. Shame that his career has been marked by these periods of mental/physical health issues, he was on a good development path since Suisse 2019, hope he can return as good as before.

Lol. This would be hilarious if it wasn't so obvious what is going on here. This is really terrible from the UCI, but I'm not even surprised at this point. |

Canada are on a very hardline border policy, have a slow-ish vaccine programme, and the races arn't exactly a massive deal for them. Not a surprise thry are cancelled again

From my experience, its mostly down to politics, and probably like Manx says, they just aren't that important here. I think we're actually going quite quickly with Vaccines now, I've read we are 3rd for G20 countries with first vaccinations, and our daily rate is pretty high now. But opening the borders to a non-necessary sports event is probably a big no-no, since we are still barely allowed to go for walks outside with a mask on with a friend, so the optics of a cycling event probably doesnt look great.
The other thing is its basically a 2 day event, and doesn't really seem worth it for most Europeans to come here probably.
