Ronde van het IJsselmeer

Race Profile

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/profiles/c2_ijs.jpg

Welcome to northwestern part of The Netherlands for the third edition of the Ronde van het Ijsselmeer. The first two editions were won by Mr. Holloway, who is currently riding in the PT. Whatever happens, we will get a new winner on the palmares tomorrow, and the chance that one of the following names will be that name is very high, as we’re expecting a mass sprint.

Although pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/mol.png Lo Cicero is the rider with the highest sprint speed in his legs, he should not be the top favourite, and neither are guys like pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/adp.png Avelino, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/cdb.png Kragh Andersen, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/duo.png Ciolek or pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/sva.png Bouhanni. The best sprinters and top favourites should be guys who are more all rounded, like pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/t3a.png Ewan, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/bak.png Guarnieri or pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/min.png Vesely.

The most interesting outsiders for the sprint seem to be pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/map.png Zabel, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/sct.png Saber, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/bgc.png Kupfernagel, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/kmm.png Haller, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/bsb.png Selig and… pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/lpu.png Bonifazio? You never know what the Italian will do, but if we take a quick look at the list of rouleurs, it might be fair to think he won't sprint.

His teammates pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/lpu.png Vanbilsen and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/lpu.png Biermans have already proven to be more important rouleurs for the team, so the chance of the roles being divided the same in Holland are definitely high. pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/xr0.png Rowe is another proven rouleur with a strong sprint, while pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/trg.png Maes will also enjoy the freedom to do what he wants.

Don’t have too much hope for this one but hopefully Avelino can pull something brilliant out of his arse and get us a big result here. Alternatively, there’s always the breakaway Wink

Meh. Good preview though!
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Top 10 for Haller would be great.

Really need Saber to step up here. Last chance to score big points!

Thanks for the preview Nemo Smile

I have a funny feeling Rowe will win this with his trademark late attack Pfft

Still triggered by the typo in the race name Angry

Can only feel better if Vesely wins this.

Oh, we're here! I expect nothing, but with Naesen and Selig, hypothetically we have some scoring potential. My money's on Guarnieri or Ewan (bold, I know), looking forward to the report!

TheManxMissile
I'm going to say it'll actually go to a breakaway!

I'll be watching closely how this plays out bringing only 6 riders to such a race without the PT teams to help, like in SAA.

Alright. Imagine this. You're the manager of a CT team that has Asbjorn Kragh Andersen. You decide to send him to a C1 sprinter's classic.

I understand it's hard to be that dumb, but it's apparently possible.

I raise you Van der Sanden Grin

Paprstka makes it to the outsiders' list though. No expectations. Just here because its a home care.

Thanks for the preview Smile

77 Flat. 77 Flat, and he can't even make the 3rd echelon in the crosswinds. 70th place, over two minutes back, on a straight, flat run in. Every time I think AKA can't do worse, he figures out how.

At some point it's a question of will, not skill. His stats don't explain it. He's just broken. 77 Flat. What a farce.

Edit: Sorry for the bitterness. Congrats to Bakkafrost and thank you to Nemo for the report, even if I didn't like the result as much in your last couple. Pfft

Very, very happy with Selig in 8th place here. Not completely out of place when looking at the list of favorites, but certainly an overperformance. And achieving that all on his own, too. Naesen surely could have done more to earn his 3 star favorite status Grin Good of Mugisha to make it to the breakaway, too. And thank you for the nice report of course, Nemo!

I love these kinds of wind stages in PCM because it's fascinating to watch the AI become totally lost and rubbish Pfft

Quality win though and insane gaps for even a windy sprint stage, very weird and fun.

Keeps giving me headaches on how to structure the team next year. Positives in Alaphilppe again in the Top25, if only training was worthwhile for him.

Congrats Bakkafrost, thanks Nemo.

Not sure if I should be happy with tenth for Vesely given the position he was in but eleventh for Hodeg is a nice bonus. But we need the big results if we want to have any chance of promotion, which most likely was off the cards anyway before the race.

It's ok Bonifazio, with that flat stat of only 79 you were never going to survive those crosswinds. Good job on defeating Andersen there!

A rare breakaway appearance for us. Decent job by Schelling. Bovenhuis ensures we don't come home empty handed.

Congrats to Sykkel and thanks for the report Smile

I was hoping for a top 5 from Saber here and I was worried when I saw him doing a long sprint there. But looks like that was the better option today and he had the legs to hold on for a 4th place finish Grin

Guarnieri keeps overperforming like crazy Pfft

Thanks for the report Nemo Smile

Guarnieri just doesn't stop performing! Grin His 3rd race win of the year, one more than he achieved in CT in our first season. Reckon he'll pass the 1000 point mark now too, which is crazy! Grin

His flat, stamina and resistance stats really came in hand here with the strong winds. And when he finds the perfect wheel as well in Ewan, there's not much that can stop him! Perfectly executed. Nice to see Breen pick up a few points as well.

Thanks for the report Nemo and thanks for the congratulations! Smile

what a great surprise to see Kupfernagel finish in a brilliant 2nd place, after an entire season working for Swift he had the opportunity to lead the team without any doubt he was not disappointed.
