Just outside the Top 10 in Rheden, pretty much what I expect on the cobbles this season without a standout rider.
Too bad that the rest of the squad finished well and compact, but just outside the points.
Interesting that van Dongen was our best finisher.
Obviously I would've preferred Adams for extra development, but the standout feature of our cobbles squad is its depth, so any of our four good cobblers can get a result on a good day.
Now there's one more cobbled race in Dunkerque, then we eagerly await how far we've dropped in the April rankings before Herklotz intends to strike again in Romandie!

GVA has a season's best with a sixth place, which is nice to see. Hope he can continue this in the remaining Continental races, and he manages some more top-10's or 15's max in the WT

Cossette makes essentially his first appearance all year by staying in the first group in Rheden GP. Unfortunately Lavery either didn't have the legs or didn't try to sprint, so it's still not much of a day for us with 14th and 15th.

ZLM U23: Not that I expect much from my SPR 70 sprinter, but 79th is pretty bad. Maybe we'll be a bit more competitive in the upcoming hilly races.

Trentino and South Africa wrapped up
Spoiler Great day for my youngster Ortega to snatch the polka dot thanks to excessive attacking.. Pulido cracking in the end but what a great race fo rhim overall.

That final South Africa stage makes my earlier Auer rant look a bit silly, a great ride there to finish second on the stage and climb to 7th in the final GC in the end!
That's still lower than I would've hoped for, but at least he attempted to salvage something from the race in the end.
In Trentino, a similarly nice effort from Auer to get a good gap to the "peloton", although sadly he - for whatever dumb reason - conceded 17 seconds in the final kilometre and actually dropped out of the Top 10 with that pretty severe mistake.
So a good ride actually lost him GC positions because of how crazy the race became up front... But I'm happy he wasn't passive in either of those stages.

Nice to see Welter finish third in the KoM in South Africa. Decided to only send the main team to one of the mini GT's, and even without a leader. Big mistake?
At least Nerz managed to come back to fourth in the GC in Trentino. Not amazing, but definitely better than eighth A shame to see Rui Costa but even more Kreuziger so low in a sponsor goal race. I guess it has sth to do with the team helping him come back on stage four as well.

Not very encouraging results in Trentino, Zollinger went into the break on the right stage but was massacred by the other breakaway riders. Hopefully he's keeping his powder dry for the GTs again, where he won the Queen stage of the Giro last year.
Thanks for the results Shonak!

Engeldinger on fire in South Africa, but too late...and it wasn't enough to improve his GC just for few seconds.
In Trentino dropped GC leader but lost in favor of Konrad for 20"...damn. But 2nd in GC is a good result. I was hoping for a better result in South Africa (at least a podium, but I was also expecting him to fight for GC win), paired by a great 2nd in Trentino (At the beginning I would have dreamed for it, but looking at GC before 5th stage, I aimed for 1st place)

Uran's race went from Bad to worse I guess. Early season form is definitely not there anymore, best placed was 39th with Yamamoto in Trentino. Hoping this is a rough patch and not whats to be expected the rest of the season now.

First victory and KOM jersey in the game
This was what I was hoping for in some of these stage races. Great ride by Novikov
I don't have a sprinter or GC contenders, so it's all about wins from breakaways and KOM pts. Great to see this coming to fruition at least on one occasion
Especially since our cobble campaign has been absolute dogshit

Yeah, no idea why Senechal underperformed so badly. You'll have to roleplay to come up with an answer, undiagnosed injury, wrong training or nutrition, something like that.

He's a spoiled brat who never wanted to be on the team and just threw his toys out the pram

Hehe, sounds plausible.
Urgh, outsprinted by Mollema! It's another excellent result, but looking at the situation ahead of the sprint I feel Sagan could have won again.
Another nice result for my U23 captain. Fritsch is definitely recommending himself for a spot on the main team next season.

U23 results quite disappointing, Pureblack doing a lot better
A good team result in Trentino, hoping Crochet’s development will benefit from this.
From the screenshot it looked like Bardet won a bunch sprint for 4th at Amstel, quite remarkable if true.

Nice to get a Top 5 to kick things off in the Ardennes, let's hope for two more of these results from Davide.

another solid performance by Phinney in Campania TT...I'm starting to wonder if I should have done a World Cup attempt, but I preferred to spend the whole race days for a promotion shot.

Nice one Christian!
Dissapointed in past jandal for not sending our three worst TTists to Campania to try get a sweep of the reverse podium. Think I did that for World Champs and possibly Virginia so I have that to look forward to at least
24/02/21 - kandesbunzler said “I don't drink famous people."
15/08/22 - SotD said "Your [jandal's] humour is overrated"
11/06/24 - knockout said "Winning is fine I guess. Truth be told this felt completely unimportant."
