Thanks, good round overall. let's see how he J7 keeps his streak low or if national pride takes over to win this round.
as I might be the worst person to answer it in the game given I'd be looking at it from an insider's point of view on "typically NZ" rather than an outsider's like everyone else
Jandal7 is not typically NZ!!
Not what I meant
24/02/21 - kandesbunzler said “I don't drink famous people."
15/08/22 - SotD said "Your [jandal's] humour is overrated"
11/06/24 - knockout said "Winning is fine I guess. Truth be told this felt completely unimportant."

Another word for Football.
There was a weird tradition in my school whenever it rained in PE classes (shit school, we only had PE classes outside, no indoor gym), we would watch a movie starring The Rock called Gridiron Gang, hence how I know it. |

Also, unless kandesbunzler has some insane sporting trivia knowledge, I'm proud to be the google-less member of our little 5er race
I guess I could have got a 5er without google (or wikipedia, which I prefer) for the second round, but I like to pick some rather outside answers (and learn some useless sporting trivia on the way, so I really get that insane knowledge some time). So no wikipedia-ing this time.
By the way: Proud to make it right beyond matt17br (in jandals sig - of course).

I'm with stupid 2021.3: Round 3
Oceania
Let's see how you did on questions regarding the sort-of continent Oceania, definitions vary. Everyone who participated in the previous round returns, but with some less-diverse answers the scores are a bit higher again.
1. Name an Australian cyclist.
Three cyclists received multiple mentions. Sprinter Caleb Ewan and climber/crasher Richie Porte received four mentions, with TdF winner Cadel Evans receiving three. Apparently trekbmc cycles as well.
Spoiler Caleb Ewan | 4 | Richie Porte | 4 | Cadel Evans | 3 | Jack Bobridge | 1 | Michael Matthews | 1 | trekbmc | 1 |
2. Name a city in New Zealand.
A two-horse race between the largest city, Auckland, and the capital, Wellington, with everyone except the two at the bottom of the score sheet picking either answer. The final tally is eight for Auckland and four for Wellington.
Spoiler Auckland | 8 | Wellington | 4 | Hamilton | 1 | Tauranga | 1 |
3. Name an animal indigenous to Australia.
F's in chat for the koala bear, who receives no mention at all. In fact, only kangaroos, kakapos and wombats were mentioned, in the completely unfair balance of twelve-one-one. This question might just as well be discarded as everyone who wants to score points receives the same amount.
4. Name something typically New Zealand.
"A desperate need for attention and validation from other countries" according to local jandal7, who himself is mentioned by FreitasPCM. Kiwis take the crown with seven points, with all other answers including Haka, Maori and Rugby only awarding one point.
Spoiler Kiwi | 7 | A desperate need for attention and validation from other countries | 1 | Haka | 1 | jandal7 | 1 | Maori | 1 | Moa | 1 | Rugby | 1 | Sheep | 1 |
5. Name a country or dependency in Oceania other than Australia and New Zealand.
Another answer mentioned seven times: Fiji. Papua New Guinea thrice, Samoa twice, Indonesia (partially) and Tuvalu once. All of you went for an actual country while dependencies were also allowed.
Spoiler Fiji | 7 | Papua New Guinea | 3 | Samoa | 2 | Indonesia | 1 | Tuvalu | 1 |
We have three perfect rounds! Congratulations AbhishekLFC, Croatia14 and Scatmaster111 with your 38 points! They did give the same answers though, Croatia14 going for Porte at Q1 while the others went with Ewan. jseadog1 was one point away from a perfect round for mentioning Evans there. A gap of four points to Nemolito in fifth, ahead of df_trek and TheManxMissile with 32 points. Leader baseballlover312 only scores 30 points, what impact will that have on the general classification!
We have another change in leadership as jseadog1's consistency brings him on top with 103 points, three more than baseballlover312. Ollfardh and Shonak drop from third/fourth to seventh/eighth, instead Nemolito leaps onto the podium at 96 points, one point ahead of round one winner TheManxMissile. df_trek at 93, alexkr00 at 90. All three round winners were too far to the bottom to gain places, so they are still tenth to twelfth.

Not my best round, but that was the opposite of a specialty for me. I kept pace. We'll see what we can do this round. I'm gonna have to wing it on a couple.

I'm with stupid 2021.3: Round 4
Formal and natural sciences
Apparently "bèta" sciences is not a common term in the Anglophone world. A question for mathematics, computer science, physics, chemistry and biology, with some incorrect answers along the way.
1. Name a positive integer.
I thought integer was a known term (perhaps due to my computing science background) but two people answered along the lines of "I don't know", at least scoring two points for that. A positive integer is a whole number larger than zero, so 1, 2, 3... The lowest positive integer was mentioned eight times. All other answers which had one mention are the answer to everything (42), a funny number (69) and that funny number minus one (68). The constant e is approximately equal to 2.71828 and thus not an integer.
2. Name a programming language.
Apparently you guys like Java, which was mentioned seven times. C, C++, JavaScript, Python and TI Basic were mentioned once and are definitely correct. Someone programming in binary has a deathwish, and HTTP is not a programming language but a web protocol. At least none of you mentioned HTML, then I would have disqualified you.
Spoiler Java | 7 | Binary | 1 | C | 1 | C++ | 1 | HTTP | 1 | JavaScript | 1 | Python | 1 | TI Basic | 1 |
Albert Einstein is the only answer mentioned more than once, though a whopping eleven times. Stephen Hawking takes one mention, as well as "celestial physicist" Johannes Kepler and fictional "astrophysicist" Rajesh Ramayan Koothrappali.
Spoiler Albert Einstein | 11 | Stephen Hawking | 1 | Johannes Kepler | 1 | Rajesh Koothrappali | 1 |
4. Name an element of the periodic table.
O for Oxygen wins the round with five. H for Hydrogen has three as only other element mentioned more than once. The other elements are Au, Ds, Es, Fe, Rf and U, check the spoiler for their exact names.
Spoiler Oxygen | 5 | Hydrogen | 3 | Darmstadtium | 1 | Einsteinium | 1 | Gold | 1 | Iron | 1 | Rutherfordium | 1 | Uranium | 1 |
5. Name a bone in the human body.
TheManxMissile's prediction that someone names the male reproduction organ turns out to be false. The femur aka thigh bone edges out the collarbone by one point, five versus four. The skull has two mentions, the ribs, mandible and sixth thoracic vertebra one.
Spoiler Femur | 5 | Collarbone | 4 | Skull | 2 | Mandible | 1 | Ribs | 1 | Sixth thoracic vertebra | 1 |
A perfect round for jseadog1, adding 36 points to his tally! alexkr00 and Nemolito join him on the round podium with 33 and 31 points. All other participants except TheManxMissile (17) score between 30 and 24 points. jandal7 and kandesbunzler26 take five points though both submitted a technically incorrect answer.
The overall leader before this round obviously extends his lead if he is the winner, jseadog1 now has a lead of eleven points over baseballlover312! Nemolito though only one point behind him. TheManxMissile with a bad round drops from fourth to eighth, behind alexkr00, df_Trek, AbhishekLFC and Ollfardh. The gaps between those people are very small, only jseadog1 has some safe margin. As long as he doesn't go for a five-pointer next round, he should win.
I'm with stupid 2021.3: Round 5
Gaming
1. Name a video game console.
2. Name a genre of video games.
3. Name a video game protagonist.
4. Name a video game developer.
5. Name a franchise of sport video games.

Oof, not my best performance. Jdog put in a great round to get a gap. Should have asked a programmer friend what to put for question 2. I had no idea Java and Javascript were different things.
