Ah, Bertilsson has finally started his season, too! Congrats, bbl Smile
And that Manarelli guy is impressivley consistent, scoring many important points for his team so far - will he even have a shot at the sprint jersey? At least, he'll probably keep it for a few more days, even when he'll lose the GC lead...

And then there's Signorini *sigh*... His abysmal flat stat really hurt him last year, that's why he didn't get a new contract with us. But I can really feel with Nordica here - losing 2' on an easy stage is really bad for any climber! At least he isn't their only climber...

Thanks for another great report at steady pace, jph Smile

Indeed, impressive so far by our Brazilian Smile I'm hoping he can deliver one more time and then we see different breakaways win it in the mountains to keep the Pinot and Ranaweera's from this world away from the green jersey as much as possible. But first, let's try to defend it against Dakteris tonight. (edit: I mean tomorrow morning, as tonight we go into the hills)

Congratz bbl and thank you again jph!

Also thank you Ulrich and Abhi Smile

Four intermediate sprints and only two third places for Munyaneza to fall short of white once again Sad And for the third day in a row, no Top 10 finish for Redecker, who is on paper a Top 5 sprinter. At least we seem to be the most active team in breakaways, which is something ...

Good to see Bertilsson winning finally after less ideal sprints by him.

Congrats bbl and may this start your season well with Kragh Andersen doing well as one of the divisions`s best.

Nice little Top 10 result for Groves Smile

Honestly, Groves is killing it and i for one wasn't really expecting it. Three top 10 finishes in a row is amazing. He's not scoring any points, but it wouldn't be fair concluding that's disappointing. He's doing it all by himself as well, no lead-out present.

Glad to have him with me. I was expecting three rather boring and anonymous races for my part, but Groves is spicing it up nicely Smile

Finally some breakaway action, good fight Van Rensburg.

Tomorrows stage will be really exciting to follow for us Smile

I'm actually surprised that you didn't even send a single one of your good sprinters to Tachira, given those 4 flat stages. With the results so far, I guess Page, Barbier, Feiereisen or Yamamoto would have a shot at stage wins, too - and I'm not sure bringing all of them to Australia to support Coutinho will bring you more points Wink

But indeed, Groves already shows his great talent - let's hope he'll be able to score some points for you Smile Something he'll surely do for Bennelong in the not-so-far future...

I must admit, that's definitely one of my first major debutant mistakes. I assumed too much that having a 5-head-strong sprint lead-out is necessary for mass sprints or would majourly affect my chances of winning. I now see that I should have used the sprint depth i've secured otherwise, by for example indeed sending someone like Page to Tachira.

Costly mistake, but it is what it is and part of my learningprocess i guess.

Monaco three stages in white jersey is already big achievement.

Pasqualon getting 4th 5th and 8th is awesome as well

Thank you guys! Very pleasant surprise to wake up to after some disappointing performances the first two days. Smile

Bertilsson finally decided to show up, and it paid off. We clearly had a large presence on the front most of the day, and luckily he was able to find a proper wheel this time despite not having much of a final leadout train. Once he was in a good position, he really did have the stronger legs it seems, which was nice to see. Already I was getting a pessimistic about him, so he grabbed his first win in our colors since 2017 to prove me wrong. Not taking back that I prefer him as a leadout though. Pfft

Almost certainly, but then he can be released to get at or close to minimum wage from another Scandinavian team, like he does every year. Pfft

Getting our first win of the year under our belt is really nice, and hopefully will eases the tension on the team bus and lets us perform. It's already put me a lot more at ease so I can enjoy the racing and not worry about what a bad performance could mean for AKA's chances this season.

The hills start now, and this is an area where we need to gain some time or at the very least not lose any to have a good GC position. With Fabbro working in sprints, Warbasse is our clear main guy. I'd love to see him pushing the lesser puncheurs a bit, though we'll see if the few true puncheurs here end up dictating the race instead. I wouldn't mind that so much either if it helps dispense of pure climbers. I hope having both Fabbro and Warbasse here should at least protect against a double bad day, but we have to stay aware.

Thank you jph for the great report!

This is a race last year McCormick would have to be in the breaks. So nice to to actually have a leader worth protecting although not sure Kuss is that strong a contender that a little break time wouldn't be a good idea.

Congrats to Bbl on win #1. Looking forward to the road going up hill even if the hills are more of a threat than an opportunity for us.

Not quite what I was expecting. Once the pure puncheurs seemed to fade, I was hoping Warbasse could do something given his good hill stat. Instead it became more of a climber sprint, and Warbasse looked lucky just to stay in contact. Maybe he lost out due to his lack of spr/acc. In any case, it's a bit of a wasted opportunity because there are so many top pure climbers here.

Similarly, Fabbro losing time but Eg staying in contact is pretty unexpected and maybe not the best for us long term. I can only chalk it up to Fabbro working in the sprints or having a terrible day. Doesn't look like we'll be worrying about a conflict of leadership at least. Warbasse is our guy. With the hills a lost opportunity and no flat TT though, I'm not sure our top 5 goal is very likely at this point with the strong field. Still a lot of racing left, so we'll do our best.

Let's get another good sprint from Bertilsson and then start this GC race in earnest.

Congrats to Aidan, who now will look for Pinot to hold the GC the rest of the way.

Thanks for the report Jph!

Future teammates Lopez and Olei hanging out in the breakaway. Grin Good recovery from Carter Jones to finish in the front group but tough loss for Nazaret to give away a couple minutes.

Petrovski's performance is disappointing, Bru showed once again how terrible he is and Seboka also worthless. I'm glad Marquez managed to hold on though, as the hills are not his best terrain at all. Great win by Pinot, congratz Aidan! Too bad he now has an ever bigger chance of overtaking Manarelli's green jersey as well. Hopefully Manarelli gets one more good sprint out of it and takes as many points as possible tomorrow morning Smile

Seemed like more of a MT stage at the end, very happy with Kuss in 4th. But McCutcheon in 6th is the real surprise.

I completely missed it on first read because I was focused on Kuss and I didn't occur to me that McCutcheon would be in the front group. Had a very pleasant surprise when I did a search trying to figure out where he was.

Congrats to Pinot, clearly the man to beat.

Congrats to Aidan, already the next (semi-)new team to get their first win Smile

Pinot should have great chances of winning this one - Ranaweera's best chance would probably be if the TT stat somehow kicks in for the MTT. Still, the race is far from over - looking forward to the next stages!
