Froome is so convinced he's the new Armstrong... and doesn't to realise how bad that is...

Although ASO & UCI hvn't covered themselves in glory either, seeing to rather confuse the situation and change their minds back and forth a bit. Ultimately making a protest of a 3" is pointless because not a chance this race ends with a 2-second difference in the end.

Guys, amazing stage today in La Vuelta. A new chapter in ROGLIC VS. CARAPAZ

I want Roglic win the Vuelta a España

Behold, the Esteban Chaves crack. Unlucky puncture on the penultimate puerto, may be suffering from the previous effort to return to the peloton.

Leaders are saving themselves for tomorrow , which is a shame, but these guys can't be blamed, with ramp after ramp being launched at them these days.

Vlasov is gone can he still fight for the stage?

Gaudu!

Pfft

EDIT: Vlasov very well today, Carthy lost time. Soler is actually a pretty complete cyclist, not sure if underrated or just not able to show his full potential yet but I like his free role at Movistar.

Nice win by Gaudu. Boring from the peloton, but that was to be expected heading into the Angliru.

Underwhelming stage. Was hoping to see some fireworks especially after the craze at the begining.

Angliru

Mas trying to emulate Roglic TT recovery spin

I think he's just at that awkward talent level where he can finish Top10 in GC, challenge podiums in 1-week races, but hasn't quite got that next level in him compared to a Roglic or Carapaz.

He's definitely underated, and benefits as such as he's not always closely marked and Movistar let him do his thing. I compare his level to Purito, you know he's going to be up there but you never quite believe he's going to win it.

Purito comparison might be a bit much, or at least premature imo. Yeah he never was able to break through and take that GT win, but he was also one of the best puncheurs in the world during his prime and topped the UCI rankings multiple times. Soler might end up being more of a Sammy Sanchez, which would still be great.

Purito, Samu, Zubeldiam Mosquera, Navarro, Mancebo... there's a long list of Spaniards that could ride Top10 in a GT and win a smaller race or two

And Mancebo's still trying to do it to this day. Pfft

Soler is really a nice surprising rider, always willing to save a race for Movistar or put in the work. Seeing the relatively late blooming of Landa and recently Bilbao, I think he may just need more.time and some luck. Hopefully he can make a podium at some point.

Hey, as a massive Purito Fanboy I really have to say somerhing here. Pfft

First of all they are completely different types of riders. Purito was a pure climber/puncheur, very explosive and couldn't TT to save his life. Soler is a good climber, much better TTist but not explosive at all.

Apart from that Purito wasn't really just another Top 10 GT rider, from 2010-2015 he was basically a Top 5 rider in the world (at least according to rankings like from PCS) in 5 of those 6 years, Top 3 in 4 of them and 1st in two years. He also podiumed all GTs (also won stages in all of them and even about 10 at the Vuelta) and won Lombardia twice.

Other than that he was also massive specialist at failing at last second, like Giro and Vuelta 2012, Liege and Worlds 2013, could have arguably won all of them, but got none. So yeah, Soler is not quite there yet, but at his age Purito also still hadn't done anything - that was probably because of doping though. Pfft

Picking up on totally the wrong point of comparision between Soler and Purito there, but i'll agree that doping makes all the difference between a Top10 and winning Pfft

I wish Spain had something like a Purito right now, at the moment it looks very, very bleak to win a GT in the next few years sigh
