On-topic: Simmons seems to be an idiot, but from the tweets I've seen I wouldn't call him a racist either. I also think Trek is slightly overreacting, but at the same time if I missed some clearly racist ones it's the only way to go.
Off-topic, this discussion should move to the politics thread:

... which is kind of the point, isn't it? How far off the deep end does a politician have to go until supporting him no longer is just a different opinion but an active attack on the rights of those who are threatened by said politician? In my opinion, Trump passed that point a long, long, long time ago. But this is not the politics thread, I suppose.
Incredible take
There is a reason that if you look at measurements such as the "Democracy Index" the US is not listed as a complete democracy anymore but as a partial democracy. In that sense the US is fading, not only from what you can see but also from an analytical scientific point of view. Trump himself is an authoritarian, and his legacy is that he shows all the flaws in the American system that need to be fixed to prevent someone like him from ever being able to lead a "liberal democracy" again in the way he does.

That is everything?! lol So he uses a black emoji in a weird way when he writes "bye" to Jose Been, not following her anymore, and he would like to see the fastest people being selected for WC - how is that outwardly rascist?!
Things happening to Kevin Reza are rascist, not the stuff that Simmons is posting - he is an idiot spending too much time on twitter

The only reasonable and not indoctrinated person in this thread, good job Shonak.

I agree, absolutely ridiculous suspending someone over in essence stating his political opinion on twitter, even if he did it in a moronic way. Actions like this won't convince any Trump supporters that they are wrong, quite the opposite actually. |

Well, if anyone’s interested in news... recalling the surge of COVID cases in cyclists, there seems to have been an outbreak on Kazakh riders. Astana had to replace Pronskiy and Natarov from their Giro lineup after they were in contact with Zhandos Bizhigitov, who tested positive days after Lutsenko also did.
Hope this is an isolated case with no relation to the worlds and the remaining Giro startlist can be intact (and no big name left out hopefully). |

Gilbert out for the rest of the season, his broken kneecap didn't heal well enough after his crash in le Tour. I guess at a certain age you just don't recover as good as you used to.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Came late to the posts so no-one reply to this I don't want to reignite the subject.
What Simmons did wasn't being racist. Just because he supports the man doesn't mean he's racist or should be cancelled, but at the same time he is 19 he's old enough to be smarter and my feeling is he doesn't know what he supports. I think it's just a case of him not being an informed person and ended up standing for what he believed in (which unfortunately is a digusting and evil thing). "Cancelling" him is ridiculous some people definetely went too far, but I understand completely the whole drama around him (luckily most of cycling community understands supporting Trump has no excuse).

So EF have revealed their special kit for the Giro and it's quite something
Rapha said it collaborated with Palace because of its lack of involvement in cycling and knowledge of its traditions, hoping to make “a team kit quite unlike any other seen in the peloton so far.”
Mission accomplished, I think I love it though!

Good luck not getting hypnotized by looking at that lower portion for any significant amount of time.
Wait, maybe that's their plan to win the thing.....

From one of the best kits ever to the absolute pinnacle of ugliness.

This is a quote from Jakobsen's instagram. He's still recovering from his terrible injuries.

The past 2 months have been dominated by my recovery after my crash in the Tour of Poland.
First of all, I had to recover from my brain contusion and other bruises/injuries for a long time.
The wounds/scars on my face are healing up well.
I would like to thank all the staff of the LUMC and in particular Dr. H. Locher and M. Hendriksma for the good care these past months.
On October 8, I will undergo a second surgery to reconstruct my face/mouth.
The surgery takes place at Radboud UMC Nijmegen and I am in the hands of Prof. Dr. S. Bergé and Prof. Dr. G. Meijer.
The surgery involves placing bone, taken from my pelvic crest, in my upper and lower jaw, because a lot of bone is missing there.
This bone will have to heal for several months.
After that, another surgery will take place to put implants in my jaw so that I can get new teeth, as I lost them during my crash.

Reading that just makes it all so much more vivid and brutal. One has to feel sympathy as to the bullet dodged by Jakobsen, but the journey of recovery is going to be (and it's already been) immense for him. I hope he can recover enough to live a 'normal life'. If he gets to ride a bike competitively is a whole other story.

mere tactic to stimulate riders to wear pink again (or other jerseys at worst)

Oh baby what a fantastic kit, wish they would keep it permanent but it a smart business decision to make it limited
