Transfer Rumours & Done Deals 2020

Jimmy Casper to Ag2r, good move as they really needed a sprinter.

Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Well, in Poland it's a well known fact that CCC stops sponsoring this team after current season. So all transfers are pretty logical. It's not even sure CCC will stay as either Pro Conti/Conti team.

I guess they couldn't afford the step up to the top level of cycling. I assume there is quite a gap between the World Tour and the Pro-Conti Level.

Also the global pandemic has probably made them re-evaluate their involvement in the sport. I wouldn't be surprised to see many sponsors disappear over the next year or two. I guess sponsoring a cycling team will be seen as a non-essential expense for many sponsors who need to adjust their finances following the pandemic.

Why are we talking Sagan, he should not transfer until the end of 2021

This was announced some days ago but only now I’ve seen it: Jasper Philipsen joins Alpecin-Fenix, in what seems to be a weird move (rather decent WT sprinter at the beginning of his career) but I guess he will still be able to ride big races with them and consolidate himself as a strong contender for smaller races/classics, I presume.

I'm pretty sure they'll apply to become a WT team next year, and that's richly deserved.

edit: to kill off my idea read here: https://www.wielerflits.nl/nieuws/alp...n-de-orde/

Also we're talking Sagan cause transfer moves happen these days also before the end of the contract. Heard Sunweb f.e. is shopping Hirschi right now for creating a transfer fee to help with budget issues.

Don't underestimate the Roodhooft brothers, this could very well be a negotiation strategy to lower the price of that license. I doubt Philipsen would join if they don't have WT ambitions.

Also, Merlier is winning a lot, Mathieu won a Tirreno stage and Vermeersch also won the Antwerp Port Epic yesterday, this isn't just a cyclocross team anymore.

But even without a WT license, I assume they'd get invited to pretty much any World Tour race they'd want to go to. A bit trickier with the Grand Tours though.

Yeah, but they kinda need the grand tours if they want to keep both Merlier and Philipsen happy. You need enough races to keep them apart, as both are too good to be a leadout for the other and without the GT's, there's few goals for a sprinter (especially with Mathieu in the team as well).

Dani Martinez linked to an Ineos move. Vlasov also possible from 2022.

If it climbs well, it’s a Grenadier.

Hincapie said on the Move that Richie Porte signed for Ineos. It doesn't seem to be official yet though.
"He made a bigger comeback than Easter Sunday."

Vinokourov said Miguel Angel Lopez will leave Astana at the end of the year and will ride the Giro as his final race with the team.

Seems to me Movistar are increasingly signing riders from nations away from Western Europe and South America, perhaps a new transfer policy?

I love it, Gregorio Muhlbérgos.

Yep, Movistar cut lots of ties in South America last season, they lost Quintana, Anacona, Carapaz and signed riders of countries like Swisse Englang Germany USA etc and they are staying with this diversity change

All of Daniel Felipe Martinez, Laurens De Plus and Richie Porte seem to be confirmed to INEOS ...

I seriously don't understand how INEOS can manage that amount of climbers. Are they going for a supporting role? Don't think De Plus and Martinez would want that in their phase of the career, De Plus especially since he might not even ride in 2020 and he left 2019 in a promising stance.

They lost Froome, sure. G's not getting younger, but still looks competitive. Then they have Bernal - major contender, for sure. Carapaz - perhaps second best GC rider after the Colombian. Yates, if in good shape can also be a serious contender. Heck, even Ivan Sosa is on their ranks despite having done very little this year (so far) - but his potential is still there. And they also got Carlos Rodriguez (major talent, as some say) for the future.

This makes me think, looking at their 2021 squad, that maybe Sivakov and Tao something Hart will leave the team? They don't seem to have a contract beyond December, and despite Sivakov's potential and solid results coming to the Tour, I'm not sure if he will be happy with all this opposition. Hart I doubt he will ever become a serious GC threat, though, but being 25, I believe he might see the way out of INEOS as the better option...

Just some food for thought. Pfft

EDIT: Now imagine if the Vlasov 2022 rumour comes true... let's see.
