Wow imagine if that attack with those five going ahead happened halfway up the climb, could have been a fun stage Think I might need to check the breakaway has a big enough gap when I go to sleep before choosing to get up during the night for the Alps stages if this is the standard for a GC fight

24/02/21 - kandesbunzler said “I don't drink famous people."
15/08/22 - SotD said "Your [jandal's] humour is overrated"
11/06/24 - knockout said "Winning is fine I guess. Truth be told this felt completely unimportant."

Guess this Tour has proven that the problem wasn't Sky. The problem was the mold that Sky proved worked and others now adopt. Cycling will never recover, or at least the Tour won't.

So, on which stage do you guys think he is going to pull a 18' Giro Sestriere stage style attack?

Its a bit of lousy gc constellation that behind roglic and podagar we have two of the most inactive riders in Uran Uran and Superman, and that Richie Porte and Landa have shipped time early on. Hopefully one of those two can get a podium, that could imply at least a bit excitement.
Think Pogacar has the legs but the lack of a team will make all the difference here. Jumbo can just drag Roglic to the finish line at whatever time they aim for.
Very boring stage, and that even though two favourites imploded

Its just the Tour really. Vuelta and Giro have been the better GTs for a decade by now.
Edit Of course the Armstronf years wernt any different but at least we saw attacks

Yeah, I suppose I just got into cycling and the Tour at a good time. My first tours watching every day were 2008-2011, so I just got spoiled about the potential the Tour held for excitement. Now the other GT's are vastly superior as a cycling fan.

indeed, 2008 had more excitement in one mountain stage than the last few tours combined

've been a bit off cycling in the last 2-3 years (which was also why my activity on cycling forums reduced), but reading this thread is very similar to what I ready 5-6 years ago with Sky train.
I find it a little bit interesting how cycling can be so cyclical. |

Pogi takes another one!!
Probably looking at another stage win and GC podium for Pogi to match his Vuelta performance, but which place on the podium
Stages are gonna be boring when Jumbo can ride up a mountain like that. Dumoulin and Wout were crazy strong today

we were complaining that Team Sky was boring, and now we have a new team even worse, at least Froome usually didn't wait for last 150 m to attack

The difference between 14th and 15th in the GC is insane

I often wonder how high your average domestique could finish int eh overall standings of a GT if they actually went for it and had team support behind them. Depending on level obviously I reckon most could finish somewhere in that canyon between the actual GC favorites and the rest and get a top 25 most years.
