One question - why Jordi Majoral was in OMV-Petrom jersey. To my knowledge if a manager doesn't vote in the terrain choice, the loaned in riders participate in the NC's with their original teams - i.e. Majoral should've been in Andorra Cycling Project kit. In my first season (2016) I failed to participate in the NC races, but Xhuliano Kamberaj was allowed to raced in Isostar jersey.

Bobridge can actually still win something. Doesn't really make up for his terrible season, but at least we bounce back from a disappointing Aussie NC last year. Still would have preferred a mountainous race for this year, but I will take the jersey (Bobridge's future though remains uncertain)..

Kinda lucky, but nice TT win for O'Shea then! Being our all-time Bennelong rider, who has raced every season for us (since 2012), this is probably the nicest reward possible. If he would be a real human, I would feel really happy for him now Wink

Thanks for the report(s)!

Nice to see Kasa retain his TT title, although the main competition was absent Shock

Likely due to a failure by me then.

OMV indeed missed but as he was a loaned rider with Andorra having nominated, he was allowed to ride.
That said, the manual team changes in those cases haven`t been done by me, which saw him in the OMV kit.

Not much of mountain race in Sweden when Ahlstrand finishes in the front group.

These very short races are getting decently realistic winners, but they kind of suck to be honest.

I agree that the results at some races seem weird, e.g. as you say Ahlstrand in +7.

But imo it`s better to have those kind of realistic winners with couple of surprises here and there instead of 80% breakaway winners.

That said, the mountain route indeed could maybe need to become more difficult next season, same possibly with the hill route, even though there I like the fact that in weak startlists a strong roleur/sprinter can surprise.

But in the end the short races help reporters so much with all those events, which for NCs imo is one of if not the most important part.

Nice to see Bouhanni being competitive didn't expect that.

Oh yeah, I'm not saying it's a bad decision to have the races like this. As you said, it helps reporting a ton. And it's certainly better than the old days where it was just a random breakaway winner every year. Getting realistic winners is the most important thing.

Just not much to see from a spectator perspective. It's worth the sacrifice in quality of action for the results, but it's definitely a sacrifice imo.

I'd still support going even further with NC's to almost a "Quick Sim" level. Only the biggest nations get proper races to read about, the vast vast majority are like Sweden or Serbia or Venezuela where we just want the actual result.
Not saying we actually Quick Sim, because i know that idea would be hated by everyone else and i understand i'm a total MG radical. Just thinking out loud...

(yes i know they fill in time as we get other prep work done, but i'd be in favor of expanding the Worlds a little or running Avenir/other U23 races now instead that are actually interesting and can fill that role)

Agreed..I dont think it makes sense to report on all those little insignificant races where theres basically one man race. Would I rather see a report of races like that or begin new season a week earlier? Pretty obvious

I must admit, that I agree here...

In the past we had numerous different nationalities in one race also to save time. But for me only the French NC is really interesting, and even that one I kinda skimmed-read only. I did the same for Italy, and will probably do so for Greece too...

But honestly I could live with just the top 15 nations were actually ridden and everything else was simmed. If a certain nation had 5 or less riders eligeble put them in a race together with other similar nations and let the best rider from each nation win. Also simmed.

The races with more than one Nation are yet to come as the small ones indeed are merged.

The problem with big Nation or small Nation is that some teams only focus the small Nations in their team, so they find different races interesting as other managers with a team from France/Germany/Netherlands etc.

That said, surely things can be considered for next year. What I hate the most about NCs is that usually it`s being handled by 1-2 reporters only, just like Marco and Abhishek do this season. Would be much better if there are like 7-8 reporters for NCs, which would make it just a handful for each.

Time wise for the off season, it wouldn`t change anything at all. But same could be said if it`s Avenir or U23 time in this period, which indeed could be interesting as well.

But not sure Quick Simming NCs is making it any better and in worst case could lead to random winners again.

I limit my reports to five pictures, which should be enough to tell what happened for those with interest in the race, but also so it can be done pretty fast. I agree that especially for the smaller ones, even five pictures might be a bit of an overkill, especially since most races basically follow the same pattern (break - caught - perhaps attack - sprint), so just posting the result with a picture of the finish might be enough there.

Oh, the Polish betrayal!

Unless Oomen does something crazy, no NC for us this year. I'm blaming Cerny, Vanbilsen and Gaviria in that order.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.
