Too bad we can't fight for anything on stages like this...

Senni closer to that top 10 again, but we need a good final week. Thanks for the great reporting pace!

Even when we win, we lose
Great stage from Ligthart (complaining works ). While other climbers do better than expected because the road has ascents, Marquez apparently doesn't

Finally, a decent performance from Reis. Hopefully setting the tone for the final week.
Congrats on the victory Abhishek!

De La Cruz climbing from 10th to 8th is great news for us. Obviously nothing can be done with Shikai and Warbasse, but it looks pretty open about the last podium place. A top 5 would be a superb placement for De La Cruz, maybe it can be done.
Congrats Abhishkhek and thanks for report! |

The first time Warbasse has shown some issues. Hopefully the second half of this TT wasn't a sign of his form changing overall. We still have a 3+ minute buffer on 3rd, so I'm not super concerned about our GC placing at the moment, but all that could disappear with one bad day. He has to stay consistent.
But hey, we got some good stage results here. Steensen finally put in a good TT, just barely missing out on another stage win for our team. And Bjelkmark put in a surprisingly good ride to make up some of those points with 6th. In any case, I'm kind of happy the TT guys got to succeed today instead of just GC guys, as often happens in TT's this far into GT's in PCM.
Not sure what to expect for the next one. Rated as hilly, but really more of a medium mountain breakaway type stage. I'd normally want a guy in the break, but I doubt my team will do it since they're protecting Warbasse at all costs. And I can't say that's the wrong strategy.

Standard breakaway gap stage. As I predicted, we were never gonna have a guy in there. AKA actually survived in the bunch though. Kind of wish we had closed it down considering the break was within reach going into the final third of the race.
Welp, now it's the big time. Mountains, mountain, and more mountains. All in.

Super ride from Teklehaimanot. Bit surprised he made it into the break and delighted he finished it off for a stage win and a big jump up the GC.
Kraftwerk are back leading the Team competition with 3 in the top 15.
Even Nerz won a bunch sprint, I think the team are trying to tell Haller something

2nd place is also better than expected by Parra Bustamente, and with him climbing from 23rd to 15th place in GC at the same time was a wonderful bonus.
If we've only performed like this in the first half of the season, we wouldn't be in the relegation battle. But well done guys, lets relegate in style |

The gap is looking good. Warbasse on paper is less dangerous than Ries, but a 5min gap is very handy at this point. Lets hope Shikai can hold on, and even dominate the mountains some more if possible, rather than limiting his loses. The TT was a good sign as he lost no time to any of the other contenders.

Well that TT really took it out of Machado didn't it? Still he remains in 3rd, balls of steel!

Not sure what happened at the end there with Reis - when I was watching the group of favourites come in it was showing as him being part of the front group, and there didn't seem to be any gaps. My guess is that with it being a summit finish time gaps were given within the same group, and his poor positioning caught him out. But then after seeing him struggle on the first climb of the day it may have been that he was yo-yoing off the back again unnoticed by me. |

He took that criticism like a man and proved me wrong! Another big stage win for us, and an important step to stay in.

Thanks for taking the time to explain. Either way it's another dismal performance. How disappointing. I give up. It's going to be a gigantic point loss for us. A top10 is the goal now.

Nice to see Parra Bustamente so active in breakaways, now within range of KOM as well. Had hoped he could gain some more minutes on the peloton so he could advance some places, but luckily we already have De La Cruz inside the top 10.
Every single stage now is vital, we can't afford a bad day. |
