Nice try by Dall'Oste, just not strong enough
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Been away with family for a few days, catching up now, Calmejane in GC from 25th to 24th to 23rd the last three stages. This would be a fantastic result if it was a grand tour |

Kind of predictable that the breakaway went all the way there. Congratulations on the win, Sykkel_Freak!
Also predictable that we didn't get involved up front. Now we cross fingers all this passive racing means Tvetcov has the best day in his career on the mountain stage, making a good GC result possible Must say I'm weirdly excited to see how that one plays out. No doubt unexpeted results and definitely also to follow and read them is quite a thrill compared to winning from a favourite's position |

Yeah I didn't have the highest of hopes that the breakaway would be caught but a shame nonetheless Houle missed out on the chance of a second stage win. At least it was a peaceful day for the team ready for Stage 10, which I am very nervous about

Bardet finally joins the break but it probably wasn't the right one for him nor was he fast enough (or at all ) to challenge at the end.
Still nothing much from the race besides Stage 3 and a bit of Boudat.
Thanks for the continued great reports

Cant wait for this to end, a shame we couldn’t perform in a race with such great reporting.

With the ugly stages still to come, my team needed to be way more active in forcing something or perhaps sending Moazemi/X into a break and stuff. Now we'll just see Skujins dropping in GC and come out pretty much emptyhanded.
Thanks for fantastic reports.
A Big Thank You To All MG Reporters!

Not sure what I should make of no mention at all of Tvetcov. Definitely fear that means he will struggle with his positioning when it matters.
Think the breakaway could take the win here, as the strongest climbers probably will have quite a lot left. Guess it comes down to how hard the key domestiques will ride and how much they’ll be able to pull.
Any hint on when you plan to post the decisive part of the stage, Fabianski? |

Well, that was somehow even more dismal than my very low expectations. I don't understand why Monsalve can't stay with Meintjes on a stage like this at the very minimum, just as I can't understand his poor positioning a few stages ago.
We'll be lucky to make the podium now, as Tvetcov and Konig will quite easily make up the deficit to Monsalve in the TT, and on his current form he probably won't even gain time on Bennett and Padun. Relegation all but confirmed now, especially as we would be relying on Monsalve for a big score in Maroc - based on his season so far I'll be amazed if he makes the top 10.
Thanks for the report Fabianski, great stuff as ever - and congrats to cycleYorkshire. |

Padun much stronger than Oomen, can' tsay much about that. What is annoying is that we don't join the break and end up chasing with Dall'Oste so we give up our great team standing. Thanks for the great report!

Now that was a fun read! There's something special about these reports. The minute I see them I know I've got 20+ minutes of proper entertainment even as a neutral spectator.
What an awesome win by Laengen. I like to think Eg helped make that happen in the break over the course of the stage. It was a nice performance for him as well, playing with the big boys and not cracking that hard in the end.

Very cool ride. Horrible Performance though, with Jaramillo and Augustyn in the group you've got to compete but they've shown an abysmal performance when it mattered even with Roman sacrificing himself for them. Jaramillo had everything prepared for the KOM but faded unexplainably. Really disappointed.

Utter bullshit over and over again...
This race should have provided plenty of points. We should be lucky to get 100 in total!

Great reporting all around Fabianski. Congrats to Grieg on the win today, Laengen having himself a great ride. It would be nice for Schelling to have finished in the top 10, but whatever. I'm content with where he is sitting in the GC at least.

Again a good ride from Tvetcov, anonymous, but good and solid, like he has done the whole race, really. Happy to see that!

That's beyond pessimism!
Ii'd say Monsalve is the logical favourite for 2nd place overall. Maaaybe Tvetcov can get himself into the top 5 by overtaking Padun, but I'm not confident at all about it, as 47 seconds is quite a lot.
Big congratulations on the stage win, tastasol! Stake Laengen is a rider who just keeps giving Also congratulations to Team Popo4ever on that sensational ride from Padun. Cool to see him rewarded for being brave and going early among the favourites.
And of course, thank you again for a brilliant report. The excitement in the "second half" was intense, as I enjoyed watching that one play out among the GC favourites. |

Padun's having a real good race here, very much impressed by him! Hope he won't lose too much time in the TT, but whatever result he gets now will be a good achievement.
Rest of the team is not too great, mainly Prevar, but whatever...

Hard to make a call with this stage almost having 20km to go in terms of the GC, but pretty happy. Bennett has done very well for himself given he doesn't seem to be in top form, certainly not on the level of not just Meintjes but other rivals too I think, so to be 2nd now is a great effort. Will be extremely tough to hang on given the small gaps and his TT deficiency, but who knows?
Very pleased with Areruya today - was worried when I saw him in the break as I'd rather he stuck with Bennett but he took it perfectly, timing his own catch perfectly to be of use to Bennett on the final climb and finishing strongly himself, moving to a good GC position and the U25 podium, particularly the former will be hard to keep in the TT but nice for now and, again, who knows?
Absolutely epic and tense report Fabianski, great read! And congrats tastasol, brilliant ride from VSL!

Wow! Have been super busy with work this week, but catching up now and what a couple of days for Stake Laengen. His season had been incredible coming in to this race, and after some weaker days I guessed he was "back to normal", but then he really showed himself these last two days. Might be difficult to get a good TT result after two hard days, but it should also be a decent GC result. Thanks for all the congrats and thanks for some brilliant reports, Fabianski!
