So, let's get the race started. Sorry for being late today, I'll usually try to post between 7 and 8 PM. Except for stage 9, which will come in the afternoon, as I won't have internet access for the rest of the day.
Have fun! And thanks for the positive feedback on the preview!

Oomen with a mediocre result, but seeing what he has done for me this season, I'll give him a bad day.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Fantastic report as if I watched a real stage on Eurosport!
Let's save the history of PCM together!
Just write me a PM if you have something for old PCM Editions (from 2005 to 2014) - databases, stages, shirts etc. and we'll share it.

What an opening report! Wish I would've sent Kump here to actually do something, though Dusan started well...

Stoltz with a podium sets us off to a good start here. Just as you expect from a TT oriented team like Evonik

That was as good as it can get for a prologue thinking of excitement. Thank you for the report, Fabianski!
Also congratulations to tsmoha on a dominant Dennis win, what a gap down to 2nd place!
Nice to have the race rolling, I'm really, really curious to see if those next stages are as good for Oss as I hoped they would be once upon a time when the planning was done. |

Awesome report! Not great obviously from Bennett but not unexpected, and a shame Morne missed out on white but again we weren't expecting him to. Houle was the one I had my eye on, 14 seconds isn't bad, it will mean unless there's gaps it will take 2 days for him to move into yellow if he can, will be interesting to see. However if the hill late on tomorrow has something to say he might become the favourite to get in there, which would be really nice - however Dennis having the same HI stat as him makes me rethink that
Congrats tsmoha on the win - with his skillset Dennis could make it a decent run in the lead!
24/02/21 - kandesbunzler said “I don't drink famous people."
15/08/22 - SotD said "Your [jandal's] humour is overrated"
11/06/24 - knockout said "Winning is fine I guess. Truth be told this felt completely unimportant."

Now that's a great start! Usually I would fear a leadership problem, but Dennis is probably a better fit for the GC than Boooohbridge. So I'm hoping for my team to work for him now. Obviously not a pure class puncheur, but a solid "hybrid" at least. Guess we need luck to keep the lead for a while, but Dennis really did everything to make it possible. Fantastic performance.
Also nice to see Roe doing well, as his skillset ain't too shabby for Portugal after all.
Great report, btw!

Wow Boudat!
I think the reporter particularly enjoyed that one too
And the first stage report quality follows the great preview

Great team performance. Had hoped Kragh could do a bit better, but Dennis looked unbeatable out there anyway. Congrats tsmoha and thanks for a brilliant report, Fabianski!

Solid from Gallopin, while Ignatiev underperforms somewhat compared to where we want him to be, but this is also the level he has been at throughout most of the season.
Congrats to Bennelong on the win and to Grieg for a great team effort. And as others have said, a fantastic report, Fabianski! Can't wait for the next one

Missed commenting prior to the prologue, so will catch up here:
Portugal parcours always has me confused as race could play out so many different ways, hence ISA - Hexacta sent a line-up that hopefully covers all bases to some extent at any rate. Covering the mountains/hills we have Ji, if it turns more towards puncheurs Betancourt, and Sepulveda as the hybrid all-rounder (who also recognises what a TT bike is). Some solid support amongst those three for whoever ends up leading, plus every other rider is handy to some extent, in particular expect to see Zakarin and Koshevoy in at least 1 BotD each. The GC here could prove quite confusing as certain stages turn things on their head. Hopefully the racing quality throughout the event reflects the promised reporting depth!
Pleasantly surprised to pick up minor points in the prologue via Sepulveda - expected a decent performance from him, just wasn't banking on top 8. Ji defended himself solidly given not his favourite terrain. Betancourt enjoyed the sites of Lisboa, and even stopped for a selfie and to phone ahead his dinner order from half way round the course (I think he was just doing so to demonstrate his competency in Portugues). Perhaps surprisingly this gives me some hope that he has his eye set on doing something later in the race so that he can further demonstrate his language skills during a stage podium presentation!
Dennis makes for an interesting race leader as to how the next few stages play out (congrats to TSM), and thanks to Fabianski already delivering on the promised reporting telenovela.

Indeed, he did
With Lienhard and Vendrame racing as well, that makes 3/4 of our loaned-out riders in this race

Outstanding report, must have taken some time to do! Thank you very much Fabianski
As for us, mediocre prologue, just as expected. The real fun starts soon!
Congrats tsmoha!! |

Even a flat rated stage has too much mountain for Bobridge.. Disastrous day after that nice opener. Pretty sure Bobridge took this stage last year and now he's slower than a climber like Ji (no offense).
Thanks for the report though

Outstanding report!
Yeah we should've brought Kump. I thought our team was bad, but not this bad. Breakaways hopefully.

Pretty much this. It was an amazing report but i couldnt enjoy it as much as i should because of how the stage handled puncheurs. This should have been a good day for the puncheurs but they suffered way too hard.

Loved the report!
Our racing, not so much! I got even more excited when I read Oss was one of those mentioned pre-stage. With this reality check considering his level, we need to go aggressive for the rest of the race, as Tvetcov also seems to be in trouble on these type of stages, judging by his time loss. Hopefully we can manage to focus on breakaway appearances going forward |
