The 2019 World Championships will be a cobbled, mountain race. The selection process will happen after the final route is decided, so the nuances of the specific parcours will still have an effect. And in case you haven't already, you can still vote here: https://pcmdaily....rowstart=0
While the TT route has not yet been unveiled, it can be confirmed that it will be a TT with climbs and not an MTT (in case this affects your nomination choices). The exact profile will be revealed later.
Thanks to many managers who have contributed to the following text in the past years.
You can now use this thread to nominate a rider for the TTT, ITT, B Road Race and Elite Road Race. Riders do not need to be nominated for the U23 race, and if they are picked for an Elite race they cannot ride the U23 race. This means that managers with U23 riders need to decide now whether they want to nominate U23 riders to make them eligible to race in the elite category or not. You can only nominate riders from your own team, or riders you own who are loaned out this season. Nations may potentially change races if they have a weaker selection than expected, so nomination is key!
You can also volunteer to be a Selector for a nation. In this case you will be able to vote to select the squad that will ride the races.
Please check that a nation will participate in a race before nominating a rider from that country. Nominations will be taken for the reserve nations - but of course they may not necessarily participate. Remember that if a nation's top riders aren't chosen they will move down.

Numbers of riders per nation in the Road Races are yet to be finalised - the plan is for 8 but that may not be possible for all nations. TTTs will be teams of 8, while ITTs are teams of 2.
---
The following guidance is taken from previous year's threads.
The first step towards creating the team is the nomination process. Each team may nominate as many or as few of their own riders to ride in the world championships. The selectors then choose from the available riders to create the road race, time trial and team time trial squads. So every rider nominated in this thread will be made available for all three squads – this thread is for nominations for the road race, time trial and team time trial squads. The only exception is if a nation is participating in one event but not in others (for example it is in the TT and not the RR), in which case the riders nominated will obviously only be available for whatever their nation qualifies for. When nominating your riders please give their full name, as it makes it much easier for me to keep track.
With loaned riders, both the team which is loaning them and also the team that they are being loaned to may nominate them. Remember that only nominated rides may be chosen by the selectors, meaning that the worlds will only be contested by riders from active teams who nominate them. The only exception is in the team time trial where, if there are not enough nominated riders from teams, the teams will be filled from riders without a contract. Teams who do not have enough riders nominated may be downgraded a level.
Further, any teams whose most suitable riders aren't nominated may be withdrawn and replaced by one of the reserve teams. This means that if the only big star of a small country is not nominated that country will lose its position to the next reserve team in line. ( Thus nominating riders for the reserve teams is important.)
You can also volunteer to become a selector for any of the countries in the WC. If you want this please say so in your post or you will miss out.
- To do this, you must have a rider in your team from that country, even if you are not nominating them.
- Once the nominations are in, the selectors for each and every country will receive PMs, they then make their team selections, and the most selected riders are those who get to ride. If there are still any ties after 3 rounds of voting the organizers will provide the tie-breaking vote.
- The more selectors a country has, the better. This is a great way to influence the game and a very fun part of the process, even if none of your riders are directly affected.
If you are confused about any of this, post your question below and myself or one of the other experienced people will answer your question. If you haven’t done this before then it is also a good idea to check out last year`s thread for an example of what you have to do to nominate riders and become a selector: https://pcmdaily....rowstart=0
Under 23 Startlists
Riders not selected for the Elite Road Race and aged 23 or under will be available for the U23 Road Race. Likewise riders not selected for the Elite Time Trial will be available for the U23 Time Trial. The startlists for these races will be compiled by the reporters from the available riders. Note that these do not have to be nominated at any point – all eligible riders will be available for selection.

Dissapointing to see the potential host nation not get into the Elite Road Race automatically. It's very tempting to not nominate some of their best riders in protest.
For the moment i nominate:
Marcos Altur
Alexander Cataford
Jesse Sergent
Geraint Thomas
Chris Lawless
Michael Hepburn
Alex Edmondson
Lukas Postlberger
Logan Owen
Loic Vliegen
Rasmus Quaade

Well, given the route, it makes absolutely no sense to nominate the likes of Guillén or Cissé, so I'll stick with:
| 528 | Cyrile Thiery | | 1112 | Mirco Saggiorato | | 5524 | Jan-Andre Freuler | | 981 | Fausto Masnada | | 1058 | Gian Piero Signorini | | 3104 | Andrea Manfredi | | 5550 | Leonardo Basso |
I'd like to be a selector for SWI, ITA, AUT, CRC, FRA.
If I understand the rules correctly, all U23 riders will be selectable for that race, even if I don't nominate them here, right?

Yes, that is correct. All riders, with teams, aged 23 and under will be eligible for the U23 races unless nominated and picked for the senior races. If a rider is nominated and not picked in any senior team, then too that rider can ride the U23s.

Feel free to make changes till the deadline (will be announced later) but a request to all to please mention it as a reply in the thread if you make changes to your initial selection post. Will help to keep track. Remember that only riders who are nominated in this thread will be considered for the senior races.

Firstly, Sofia hasn't won yet, the voting is still open. And secondly, this has been done in accordance to precedence. In case you do not nominate riders from Bulgaria, they might miss out entirely, even if they become the hosts!

Since i've been in the game the Worlds have always been in a fairly major country so this hasn't been a massive problem. Although to see that Canada, Japan and South Africa all were in their relevant Elite races, and not just the B event (and they definitely didn't all win their home B race to qualify!) but would not be in the main race in every other year...
I will also point out this quote directly from the 2017 Worlds Rider Nominations;
(Host Nation)
and from 2015
South Africa if selected as host nation or...
Denmark if Italy is selected as host nation
and then we have 2014
And if Hamilton wins the vote, Canada will qualify as hosts.
So there's three exact cases where the host nation was automatically added into the main races, despite being down in the Nations Rankings: Poland, South Africa and Canada (granted i think Poland would be in that year anyway, as was Japan)
Can't think of a stronger precedence than this exact situation three previous times!

Good catch and you might have won the host nation award by this.
Actually I was not sure how SN handled this in the past but didn`t remember any kind of host nation bonus to be honest.
As it seems to be the case though, we might continue to do so I guess. My fault. |
