The update includes 1 PTHC classic in Nakhon Ratchasima, two HC races in Beijing and Kenya, 4 C1 events with the Bayern Rundfahrt, Celtic Chrono, Nantahala and Macskako Kerek with also 4 potential C2 events, San Luis, USA PCC, Sakartvelo and Bulgaria, last not being raced yet, so has to wait until next update.
Quickly looking back to the last ranking where ISA - Hexacta went into the lead but it was very close with Volvo, UBS, Campari and cycleYorkshire being the 5 teams on the promotion ranks with basically all teams down to 12th not far from them.
Same on the way down where also like 12 teams are fighting against relegation with Philips, Sauber and Europcar being in the bottom 3 and Carlsberg and Carrefour still a bit closer to the safe zone.
Which teams performed well lately and were able to change the ranking the most?
When just reading the table of best period scorer and last ranking, you quickly see that Rakuten and Desigual are on the way to attack the promotion spots by scoring the best in those races while Iberia made a big step up away from the relegation zone.
But also ISA - Hexacta able to score more than most direct rivals making them a likely promotion candidate.
At the bottom not looking good for Europcar and Sauber and neither for Carlsberg as they belong to the weaker scorers and not sure Philips really scored enough. Carrefour and in especially Swisslion putting the pressure on others such as Lierse or Kraftwerk.
Xero meanwhile might lose the promotion chances with a weaker period just like Delvaux.

Checking the actual outcome with Bulgaria included in the RD count, even though being a C2, the least teams should be impacted here.
We basically have one change in the top5 as Desigual moves past cycleYorkshire and Rakuten as said is putting pressure on them as well. But slowly the fight for promotion becomes a fight of 7 only with a gap of ~250 points already to Xero or Popo4ever. Still the Tour of America yet to come and also one single race can change that gap clearly. Only ISA - Hexacta kind of having a decent gap by now looking easily best, when looking at their race days even more having a dominant PpRD ratio.
Delvaux and Popo4ever basically swap spots with in general not a lot of changes in the top half.
At the bottom no changes at all in the bottom 5 with only Philips moving closer to the others. But it`s mainly Carrefour and Carlsberg still having decent chances of safety as Lierse and Swisslion aren`t far ahead. But all of them need big races soon. By the look of the race days, the Tour of America as often might play a big role.
Lierse, Kraftwerk, Carlsberg, Europcar, Sauber, Philips all with less race days as some others teams e.g. ENI, Andorra, Swisslion and in especially Carrefour, who don`t good that good on the PpRD ranking having spent the second most RD in the division.

Simply no way of beating Pluchkin in the PCT. The dominant rider clearly.
Tenorio, another PT worthy GC rider coming closest so far and also Beltran, Martin or Summerhill show, that being in a PT team would see them being able to challenge the very best in the big races.
Degenkolb as best sprinter also on the rankings and still the feel, he is a huge underperformer. Ahlstrand and Guarnieri other sprinters in the top5 and Izagirre being the best pure puncheur as Beltran having a bigger advantage of his climbing skills even though Gautier might be the very best real puncheur only in 12th.
Fraile in 14th likely the first time trialist making the PCT ranking quite balanced so far.

We're getting a good year out of Slagter and Ranaweera but we knew we would struggle for points apart from them and deserve to be going down.
At least we are doing well in terms of developing youngsters as was the goal for the year, hopefully we won't have too many issues trying to fit everyone we want to keep under the wage cap in CT next season.

Scoring a total of 214 points in the 8 RD's is probably as good as, given some of the circumstances. So I'm very happy with that
Moving a spot up is nice to see, but more crucially we doubled our points advantage over both Carrefour and Carlsberg, who still look to be our main competition in the relegation fight.
Beltran used up 6 of his RD's in this update so only 14 RD's left for him. But as long as he keeps scoring at the level he has so far it should stand us in good stead. The "non-Pluchkin" individual crown should also still be within reach
Thanks for the update roturn

Not going down but not going up either. It seems everyone had few racedays this month so my fear of dropping down hugely proved unfounded.

Wow that bad eh?
I know we're looking good for the projected rankings, but I'd rather have the points in the bag already. The end of the season usualy includes a lot of Waeytens races, which usualy results in Waytens not showing up for those races.
Individualy Vanbilsen still doing great, but PCM18 is really hurting him in some races. Oomen is the one standing out though, I fear his wage for next season already.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Thanks for the update roturn.
Kraftwerk closer to the relegation zone than we would like after both Cav and Flugel failed to score in races we expected decent results.
We need Nerz and Haller to step up in ToA.
Pleased to see our new recruits scoring some minor points which was the hope when we recruited them.

A really horrendous month for us, and it goes without saying that we weren't doing ourselves any favors knowing what's on the line.
The biggest issue of course is that Vanspeybrouck is basically done. He took a nice points haul yesterday (though it barely matters at C1), but iirc there is only one cobbles race left for him, and it's a PTHC Bewley show. So that's not good at all. Every other team who says their best guys "only" have 15-20 race days left has a huge advantage on us.
I mean, we're still in the fight, but without Vanspeybrouck, how could we possibly do it? Appo has been poor besides a couple of outliers, and AKA has been terrible without any exceptions. Garby has been trash as well in the mountains, and while Warbasse is sometimes alright, he doesn't score enough to keep us up. Last year, we were saved in the final races of the year - the hills. Juul-Jensen certainly is not doing that this year, with his habit of routinely getting dropped from weak breakaways in his own terrain. So where do we make up points?
It really comes down to an insanely lucky overperformance in the Tour of America, on all accounts. I'm not gonna stay optimistic for that. I've been disappointed a lot this year, and the odds aren't good.
Really, it's hard to believe we're still even in it. We weren't in that much better of a position last year, but it felt like we had success in a much wider variety of races last year. Vanspeybrouck has basically stepped up to keep us from fully tanking in his last year before decline.
Thanks for the update!

A very poor period for us. Although we're not that far behind 5th place in terms of PpRD, the trend has not been great lately, so realistically we need to start preparing for another season in PCT. Bar Guarnieri, our riders have been largely unimpressive, and with Guarnieri starting to decline next season, we could be looking at a large turnover in our squad once again in the coming transfer season.

With Tenorio's season over, we have to lean on inconsistent Simon Yates to keep us in a promotion spot. I'm not liking our chances given how PCM18 has treated Yates this season.
While we have been extremely unlucky on that front, seeing Omar Fraile have a breakout season makes me really happy after years of development.
Thanks for the update.

Surprised we scored the best considering how bad we were in some races. If we didn't have our best riders outside the top 100 and actually finished in the Top 20 like they reasonably should have, we would have done even better, so that is frustrating.

Just say what you want to directly
We keep trying and it's still not enough at the moment. Just three months and 12 races to go. We still need a miracle.
Our leaders have some RDs to ride, so there's some hope left (even after the season we've had).
Thanks for the update

Pretty strong month from our perspective with temporarily two guys in top10! I believe Izagirre has one of the best pts/wage ratio in MG this season, which means I don´t look forward to renewals

Thanks roturn for the update.
Just checked and actually it`s the other Izagirre being 2nd on that list.
That said, the amateurs obviously fool this list a lot with their 5k wage.
The very, very best by far is Kneisky for EA Vesuvio followed by Stüssi and Aidan and Novardianto.
The best ratio with a wage of more than 100k are Brambilla and Laengen.
But Ion Izagirre is the first with a wage of more than 150k indeed not far ahead of Goos or Fraile.
All of them are really impressive though.
Groenewegen on my end also one of the very best. On a 380k contract this is quite decent, so hopefully not willed to ask for too much more. Similar with Sicard and his 600k contract. |

Top half seems doable with Pluchkin still racing in Austria (and some random PT races), Krasnoperov to race in Bulgaria for minor points and Prevar in some classics to salvage a few bonus points there

Obviously sad we've dropped a spot but since we have a few extra race days and I think we're racing Bulgaria we should get enough points to overhaul Desigual again. Meintjes still has Maroc and Portugal to go this year which should deliver a nice handful of points and we still have some other favourable races as well. Hopefully as our PPRD suggests we manage to deliver promotion this year!

Ah, there goes my gamble that the majority of 80+ climbers would avoid the long PTHC races and Monsalve could sweep up points to keep us from relegating |
