Hi.
It happened many times that i get first to the finish line and the pack is in another group.
the timer starts counting and last time i checked it said 25 seconds.
Then in the results screen the pack and me we all get the same time.
(other goups on the back get their gaps right).
How many seconds must i get to make the difference count?
Thanks (and sorry if the thread is not posted where it should but i didnt' know if write here or in bugs) |

Often the needed gap is set to 20s on most flat stages. So 25s is on the edge as this might have been the showing but it might be just 20s.
To fix this, stages can be changed to less gap, even up to 0 or 1s . But therefore the stage editor files are needed and sometimes also lead to issues as then some gaps appear, that were hardly seen.
Ideally all flat stages would have something like 10-16s imo instead of 20s, so that a visible gap is given, but others aren`t.
For you, it might be difficult to fix as a) it`s lots of stages and each needs to be fixed individually and b) for most stages you likely don`t have chance to get the editor files. |

It's become more than this. Stages that have 10s in the stage editor file, have instances where 50s gaps don't get counted. There's a larger issue at hand, but whenever people bring it up, people explain the stage editor gap configuration, so the bug often gets ignored. And that's no offence to people bringing up the stage editor gap configuration. Just a general frustration after having huge gaps taken away on stages configured otherwise. |

You're right. And it's even more true for the hilly stages with a flat end just after the last hill. A big frustration, really, because it doesn't look likes IRL. |

the problem is that as far as I know the gap have to be from the last rider in G1 to the first rider in G2, so don't take the time from the winner to calculate the gap between groups.
anyway if this gap (last rider g1 to first in g2) is more than the one needed, the gap in classifications is obviously from the first rider of every group.

The interesting thing to me is... why is this stuff even in the game?
Why did someone go and say: you know what, our game shouldn't count the results as they are, I don't like that. Instead, why don't we make it so the players have to get an unrealistic gap to even count as a gap?
Then, after years of complaining, why do they still keep it in the game? |

As I said in the post I deleted, I think it's due to the fact that in some mass sprints about 10 guys are sprinting and the rest take it easy and suddenly you'll see a gap of 20-ish seconds open up and we don't want that to be recorded. If anything, the bigger problem can be on hilly stages, where sometimes tiny gaps are recorded and sometimes 150 riders all get the same time and you don't know beforehand which it's gonna be. But sometimes it'll work in your favour and sometimes it won't, so it evens out over time.

Why don't we want that to be recorded? There should be no handouts in the game like there are no handouts IRL aka they should fix the AI instead of putting on a band-aid.
In a stage race you see the GC guys with their teams right behind, sometimes even alongside the sprint trains. Precisely because if they're going for GC, then they can't lose any time, so they can't afford to take it easy, even if they have no chance to win that stage.
And the guys that aren't riding for the stage or GC can afford to take it easy, do take it easy and don't care if they lose time. So every sprint they make up the back half of the bunch and that is if they're even in the bunch and not take it easy for the last 10 kms at a walking pace, saving their legs for the next day.
In a one-day race time simply doesn't count of course, only placings, so I see even less reasons why not display the real gaps... |

I was about to post about this as well. I've only played like 10 stages but it's already bugging me.
How do I change the stage time gap? I'm using Fast Editor and according to this post - https://pcmdaily....d_id=21499 - I need a column called gene_f_time_gap in STA_stage, but I don't see it. |

didn't know you can edit it with a database editor, as far as I know you have to do it with the zcts file with the stage editor

Oh, all right, I wasn't aware of that. Where do I find this stage editor? Steam says I already got it, but I'm not sure where to look.. |

Quite late unfortunately but to still give you an answer.
When in steam in the library you have the tab "Games" where PCM appears.
Then there is the tab "Tools" where the stage editor appears. So you must change from Games to Tools to find the Stage Editor there.
You can also find it on your drive. e.g. D:\Steam\steamapps\common\Pro Cycling Manager 2018 - Stage and Database Editor
with the game being D:\Steam\steamapps\common\Pro Cycling Manager 2018
So there is a complete new folder with an .exe as well for the stage editor. |
