MG New Riders Suggestions [2019]
roturn
basically copied from SN`s 2018 thread:

Here's the usual thread to suggest for new riders to be added; or rider's stats to be modified, as the 2019 ManGame DB is created.

Young Riders

1997 is likely to the main year of interest, with the top talents from this year yet to be added to the game. A number of riders were added post-transfers, although their stats will be adjusted and brought in line with other additions.

Riders from 1998 can be added too in some individual cases. So feel free to suggest them, but it may be that they are held off for another season. All riders born in 1998 that are added, will be limited in the 2018 season, such that they cannot develop beyond Level 2 in their first year.

1996 is the other year for which riders will be Avenir eligible.

No riders will be added for 1999 or younger.

Older Riders

Riders who are free agents, or part of disbanding teams, can have their stats adjusted - even if sometimes it is just in a minor way. (e.g. I've often boosted the Prologue stats of free agent Sprinters in the past)

Examples in the 1993-1996 range are of particular interest, as they can become 'talents' that are not Level 1, which allows more unique stat combinations.

Riders of 4.100 can be added or adjusted too. More interested here in filling depth for countries though, rather than anything else.

1986 or older are off limits, since these riders have already started decreasing now anyway.

Stat Limits

I would imagine that 80 will be the maximum potential stat, certainly in the climbing domain, but we'll see. I know there's always a lot of opinions on exactly what is best for the game, but ultimately the additions are available for all teams to try and sign, which is a good thing to remember.

Realism

MG doesn't need to be 100% realistic on stats of riders. Real life results are a useful indicator, and many riders will tend to be aligned to that, but they are not a constraint.

Stat Gains

This is also the chance to change any Stat Gain category, or add new ones. So in case you have a specific idea, just ask.

Format

As usual, please post suggestions in the Table Format, using the template file to help: https://www.dropbox.com/s/twh1qwmhhqh...s.xls?dl=0
(Fill in the file, then copy it to the post, and put within the table tags)

Version of the rider at 4.100 and 1.0 are preferred too.

Links to CQ and PCS are helpful. I've been finding https://firstcycling.com/ quite useful too. Not so-easily searchable, but a greater depth in races included.

It’s cruel to dangle the original Areruya in front of me like that roturn Sad
24/02/21 - kandesbunzler said “I don't drink famous people."
15/08/22 - SotD said "Your [jandal's] humour is overrated"
11/06/24 - knockout said "Winning is fine I guess. Truth be told this felt completely unimportant."

The Norwegian ITT Champion, who almost also became the RR Champion (Got blocked by Jansen in the sprint). He is signed with Sunweb, and in my mind has the potential to become the best in the world on the TT bike, or even a Dumoulin v2.

What do you guys think?

there are no good Lithuanian youngsters...but I guess a Jonas Alisauskas (puncher) and Gintaras Svetikas (baroudeur) could be added. They never done anything, just rode for Lithuanian CT team.

For any 1998 considerations, Rojus Adomaitis is easily the pick. He's a track sprinter

Not gonna suggest stats to be unbiased (they all should max at 79ovr at least)

This guy is good, he's no Waerenskjold though. Leknessund did come out of fucking nowhere with insane results, I was very shocked this year.

I think that Mikkel Bjerg might be well suited to this skill set. Pure TT's U23 WC in Insbruck last year, born in 98. Only problem is that Wurtz is still in peak once Bjerg would max. Could alternatively be set up in a way where he makes use of track sprint, but no results he has generated so far would provide that he does anything but TT well. Also he has two attempts at the UCI hour record.

Obviously super OP but I think changing Bernal to 2.00 from what he is right now. With a bunch of the top stage racers and climbers declining I think it would be fine to add in Bernal at a high pot and high base. Obviously some of these stats need to be tweaked etc.

A few more potential additions:

Cameron Jeffers . The Road Racer from Saint Piran, who is also(as some may know) a YouTuber. Excells at punchy crits and hillier routes. Could have potential for being a punchy rider in the future.

Michael O'Loughlin is a rider for Team Wiggins Le Col. He is a good ITT rider, and recently won the National Championships Ireland U23 - ITT. He has other ITT results, but looks to have found his ITT groove recently. I might have been a bit to giving with the stats, but i think he should be added?

Might have been a bit to giving with the skills, but feel like the last two at least should be added as talents.

Later additions, for the next off-season: Tom Pidcock, Mark Donovan and Andreas Leknessund.

Not sure about new riders as I'm not much into IRL cycling but I just want to make a point to have some new riders with weird stats in the DB.

With riders like Kip, Guillén, Krasnoperov, Ratiy, Bakari and Di Maggio all being 30+ we'll be losing this kind of depth really soon. And that would be a shame, especially for CT races in which they have a clear purpose.

Niklas Larsen is one of the stronger sprinter prospects within Danish cycling at the moment. Has finished on the podium at the Danish NC back to back in 18-19. Has a past on the track where he took Olympic and WC bronze in Team Pursuit.
This year he has won Himmerland Rundt, which is one of the races in Denmark with the toughest fields. Also has a stage win in Rhone-Alpes Isere Tour

4.100 via Hills for the first two levels, then Sprint. Wanted to add in a rider who can be molded in various ways, his high TT base is due to his track past.
Wikipedia page for the track results. PCS

Two variants of Mikkel Frølich Honoré, a young Dane that is most likely best in the hilly terrain, but Denmark wouldn't mind the addition of a subtop cobbler, with literally everyone but Pedersen from Denmark who can race cobbles, declining or being completely gone from the DB. I don't think adding in the hills will make sense, since Andreas Kron should be added next season as at least pot 6 IMO. Doesn't have a lot of results since he got snapped up by DQS as a stagiare last season and this lead to a professional contract.

@quasdas: surely Venantas Lašinis is the most promising young Lithuanian, maybe work on him...

@Leknessund: Whoever said he came out of nowhere clearly doesn't follow any junior cycling, he was known as the best of his year for almost 3 years...

@bbl: The high level additions/changes are necessary to create unique useful riders that can't be reproduced via "normal" development, like Sepulveda last year f.e.

@whitejersey: I absolutely love your proposal of Niklas Larsen!

@stat limits: I highly disagree. With Lopez and Herkoltz thrown in, they'll dominate for years if there isn't some sort of chance to compete with them. Looking at this years class, I think Bernal, Pogacar, Daniel martinez, Sivakov and maybe Sosa [in this order] could work in the 80-82 Mo Potential column.

@ rider additions: will obviously propose some later...

@ Croatia:

For special talents as you have mentioned, it can always be adjusted of course.

But the stat limit is for any other more regular or regional rider. No need to even go too high on those.

Regarding Herklotz/Lopez. Might or might not. There still is Phinney, Lecuisinier etc. that are well in training distance.

Then add higher level talents with unique stats, or simply add older riders. No reason to change man game history in order to do that.

I'll start with three suggestions, more might follow later. These riders are pretty well known, but I can't say I've followed them closely or seen a lot of them, so feel free to let me know if my stat suggestions are way off Pfft

Jasper Philipsen: First and foremost a sprinter of course, with a range of top 5's this year from small and big races. Won Paris - Tours Espoirs in 2017. Six out of seven Belgian MG rider with 80+ sprint is 30 years or older, so 80 potential in sprints shouldn't be a problem. In addition, he's a pretty good cobbler, achieved top 5's in both Paris - Roubaix Espoirs and Ronde van Vlaanderen Beloften. Also delivered good TT's as a junior, x2 national champion and 6th in the WC time trial in Richmond. Training examples below: sprint, cobbles, track-sprint and fabian.

Bjorg Lambrecht: His most impressive performances as a pro has been in the hills, with a 6th place in Amstel and 4th in Flèche Wallonne this year. In the mountains, he's been very consistent and won the white jersey in Dauphine for example. He finished 2nd behind Bernal in l'Avenir 2017 and been top 10 in Valle d'Aosta twice, with a second place as best. Was also second in the WC U23 road race in Innsbruck. Usually well placed in the peloton, thus warranting a decent flat stat, but does not seem to favor TT's or long races. Training examples below: stage race, climberv1, climberv2, hills.

Tim Merlier: Cyclocrosser who's proven himself to be a very fast sprinter. Won the Belgian NC and Elstedenronde this year, and two stages in Danmark Rundt last year. Also done well in the Tour of Belgium sprints the past couple of years, beating Philipsen and Jakobsen on several occasions. Unfortunately he's not been riding the biggest of races, so hard to say how fast he really is, around 76 is probably fair, but perhaps also a bit conservative. Training examples below: sprint, cobbles, classics.
