Night 5:
The town again voted with a majority to lynch in the afternoon instead of at dusk. This time it was the shady Croatia14 who they turned their attention to after being confrontational and suspicious in the past few days. Was this the sign of mafia behavior?

Good game everyone. Brilliantly played by the mafia after losing a member on Day 1. Jdog got suspicious to me right at the end of my life, but df_trek treaded the line perfectly. Never had any lead on him at all. Both of them really played this brilliantly.
I pretty much knew we were done once Ian came back as town. I also felt my days would be numbered, and I was right. That was the point of no return I think, even with the save from knockout.
The game certainly is a lot harder without a detective or gunsmith. Makes the town situation much more precarious and blind.

Well I guess I will make a post at this point. I'd like to state that my plan from Day 1 was to bomb knockout when suspicion arose. Can't believe how much of a great choice that would have been.
To the nightly lynchings. We mostly just killed whoever was the most suspicious of me. sammy was first, then on day 2 people thought it was random and I was off the hook. Same for when we killed bbl. We spread apart the masons so the doctor would be confused.
We had a pretty good feeling knockout would try to save the 3rd townie the last night and we thought he was going to save me. We chose kandes and had knockout saved kandes I was going to bomb knockout the first minute of the new day and hope that df_trek could persuade hillis that he was the one that was saved.
df_trek and I did not intentionally play opposite games. We honestly only worked as a team at night and during the day we just played out own game while making sure we stayed out of each others paths until the very end. I am quite surprised you did not notice we never really mentioned each other throughout the game.
I jumped on the Aquarius train super early because I knew that I would blend in with the town and they would think there is no way I would kill a fellow mafia member that early. We thought there was no chance we would win but everyday the plans just fell into our place and nobody turned their attention to me.
bbl was pretty spot on with my strategy, stay active enough to be a major participant but also follow other townie leads so I could stay out of suspicion. Typically if you don't attack someone they wont attack you and they held true mostly for me.

I knew Jseadog was mafia, I called him as my main suspect day one before I got night killed, then reading from the sidelines I was getting more convinced each day but couldn't say anything and was surprised no-one looked at him after that with how it obviously benefitted him most to have me gone.
To me his fake surprise at my death made me 100% and that really should have been questioned.
I feel like the town made a lot of mistakes this game and wish I could have been alive longer to have more of an effect.

Finally is over ,
I had really stressful days, I was meticolous on every single detail, reading and rereading whatever people posted, but in particular what I was posting. At a certain piont I started to hate myself: lies, lies, lies and again lies, this game brought out my worst part, now I can finally post what I'm really thinking on this forum ahah.
At middle game I loathed being mafia for the attention you have to pay on everything, but at the end I was enjoying it, and I have to say it was really helpfull for me to learn a lot of things about dynamics of this game, this was just my second time playing it on an internet forum, at the beginning I really had no idea on what to do, so I just tried to forget I was mafia and doing the most logical thing if I really was a townie, and maybe that saved me until the end.
Tomorrow I'll post something more on situations I was related during the game.
For now I have a question for knockout, during night 2 (when we killed Marco), were we just lucky to get the right mason, or were you saving already to someone else among other people?

Before I forget, thank you so much jandal for putting together this game. It was extremely well run, as always, and the uniform day lengths really made the game flow better than ever before. It was really nice to have a fun, active community game on Daily again. Feels like it's been forever, and you took the initiative to make it happen, and pulled it off perfectly.

Well played mafia, congrats!
Doctor Saves:
Night 1-3: knockout
Night 4: Hillis
Night 5: Df trek
I hated being the doctor because i had to protect myself so long. I wish someone like Kandes would have been the role. Night 1 it might have been a solid choice to protect me once the masons claimed but the other nights it wasnt the best option to maximize the odds of a save that night and i knew it when casting the votes. Night 2 i was tempted to protect one of the masons and i switched back and forth between them and myself but figured that i should go with the less likely option of protecting me as a kill on me would ruin the chances of future saves too. Night 3 it was rather obvious that no mason would be targetted so that was an easy decision. Considered kanzler and bbl too but really wasnt an option for me. Night 4 was obvious what id do. And i was convinced that jdog is mafia pretty much as soon as croatia flipped town and protected the other two.
One positive thing about this game is that the town saw me surviving till the end being very wrong about reads so perhaps people dont overestimate me anymore in future games and dont think that another night kill in night 1 means that i have to be mafia
My biggest mistake was to search for pairs of mafia instead of people who behave suspicious on their own which is why i ignored jdogs red flags since a team with someone like Croatia or Trek looked very unlikely.
this game was much better than the previous ones in terms of activity and i hope that people continue like this even when we reintroduce detectives. I still think too many townies play out of trouble and dont go into battle with their own opinions but rather just see if they agree with the top waggon.
Extended length of day was very good although 5 days was too long. Id settle with 3-4 for future games.
Not sure if i will join the next game because i spend way too much time on this but i could take over hosting if jandal wants to play himself.

Yeah, well played game by the Mafia.
I screwed this one up majorly as soon as it was put on my shoulders to pick the lynch targets. And when Croatia turned out to be town, i only had df_trek in my sights. Jseadog was flying under my radar the entire time...!
Im ready to go again basicly, i love this game. And i think 3 days a day is perfect.

As it was my first mafia game as a forum game I can't exactly judge if it would be more fun with more power roles, but in principle I like the versions with less power roles more. It can of course be a bit annoying playing as a townie, but on the other hand it is a core element of the game that quite some players don't have many clues and have to make their best guess what's going on basing on no actual proof. Of course this increases the chances of the mafia (as we have seen), but I don't see a problem with that. |

I have no clue how lets say ToS roles would work in a long ass game, cause instead of a minute to figure out whos evil you got days, but I am always in favor of more complexity. makes people feel less useless

I loved this game, great game everybody:
then my very first guess on jseadog was right I definitely got blinded to trust df_trek because he was the only one siding me for most of the game - smart play by him, in hindsight I maybe should've recognized, but that's life...
the mafia played it very well! I only hope the statement on wrestlemania was true, jseadog, cause that finally convinced me you're town otherwise I'm very disappointed
looking forward to the next game

Looks like my analysis was right after all then!
I gotta say, once Ian went down, I was pretty convinced you were mafia and had been playing us. Luckily I died before I could say that aloud. Not that it would have mattered.
