Hi guys! Today I started a new series on my YT channel, a pro cyclist with Belgian sensation Remco Evenepoel! I will try to keep it somewhat realistic, I have also used his real-life schedule so we start in Argentina at the Vuelta San Juan. As always, any support or feedback is much appreciated!

Thanks mate! Going to keep doing the WT races, going to try and compress the stage races into one video though.

I'm back with episode 2 of the Remco Evenepoel Pro Cyclist, today we tackle the remaining six stages of the Vuelta San Juan in Argentina. The race is dominated by flat stages but a time trial and a long mountain stage will give Remco the chance to show off his best abilities. Enjoy, any feedback very much welcome!

Great result in San Juan for Remco. Nice riding on the mountain stage for a good Top 10 finish

One small thing for aesthetic reasons really. Press alt+# at the start of each stage. It will remove the circles from the bottom of your riders Smile fine having the name above, but the circles are a bit strange

Welcome back to the Remco Evenepoel pro cyclist! Today, he will start his first WT race in the middle east, the UAE Tour. He goes up against some of the best stage racers in the world, the likes of Simon Yates, Vincenzo Nibali and Chris Froome. We will also look to support the team leaders, Elia Viviani and Julien Alaphilippe.

Not a bad race for you. Shame about the crash just before the finale on the first hill stage, for you and Alaphilippe. That probably wouldve been the most suited stage for both of them.

Thanks for watching mate! Yeah that crash really hurt Remco, perhaps I shoud've done a better job moving towards the front after the crash but I was only thinking of regaining that resistance. Better races to come for sure! Wink

After his difficult week in the UAE, Remco heads home to Belgium for two HC category cobbles classics, where we will act as a domestique. Following that, we go to Spain for the Volta Ciclista a Catalunya. Enric Mas will lead the team, again Remco will ride with world class rides such as Alejandro Valverde and Geraint Thomas.

I love these small videos of Evenepoel, although I Think he shouldn’t be a GT rider like that...

It’s really frustrating to see how you struggle with positioning. Always too far back at key moments wasting energy to get to the front. Also I think you are often messing up the sprints. Last time Jakobsen had the perfect wheel in the correct train, but you muscled it away forcing him to jump wheels, only to then block him, while saying he made a weird decision. You forced that decision by interfering way too late.

You did smart taking those 3 seconds, but again messed up the climb with poor positioning. You should have been able to stay in the s.t.-group!

I would also like to see you go for something... a breakaway, sneaky KOM points steal or something. IMO theres too much “lets roll with the pack and accept a decent result without having a chance for anything...

The two times you attacked you finished very well. Once on a mountain with much better riders, and once in a cobbled race.

In races you can’t possibly get a top 5GC or so, I would love to see you go for a stagewin or KOM rather than getting 12th...

valverde321
I agree with SotD, what I do at the start of every stage is just relay at 85 until at the front and then just hold position there, unless you are forced to go back and protect a leader or something. Then you never have to move yourself up for crucial points in the race.

Also another small nitpick, but Antoine Duchesne is pronounced Du-shaine not Du-ches-knee. A lot of Canadian riders names are pronounced with a French accent actually since the majority of them come from Quebec.

Having re-read my post I realize that it came out way more negative, than it was intended. Sorry for that!

I really appreciate the effort put into this story, and it's the only story i'm actively following, so kudos for that!

Yeah that stage in EP4 was frustrating I don't know why it kept moving Remco to the side where he was getting blocked, I guess it's because everyone who had energy was going 99? In UAE it was very tough with the fall, pace was very high and if I had attempted to move up in the peloton I feel like I'd have died 1km into the climb, as you saw even Alaphilppe struggled with that. But all in all, I try to conserve energy as much as possible over the climbs especially as Remco isn't a favourite yet. And it seems to be working okay. My thinking is literally to make as few efforts as possible until the final climb, although better positioning would certainly help.

With regards to the sprints, I had that one perfect lead-out for Jakobsen which has made me try and get involved in the sprints too much for sure. I will probably just roll to the line in the front group, leading-out is impossible with 56 SPR. Grin

Yeah true that would be fun, and that stuff is coming for sure. I just felt like I wanted to be a domestique and try and help the team do well during the first few races before trying for KOM's etc. The pro-cyclist videos I have seen before have always been 100% focused on their rider, I wanted to try and focus on the team much more, maybe I've over-done that though.

I will tell you that I have recorded up to the end of Tour de Romandie, so I have played ahead a bit. Turkey and Romandie were definitely the best races so far, but the main reason I tell you that is I can't change my playstyle for those races now!

Anyway, thanks a lot for the feedback, I'd much rather you be straight and tell me how I can improve than to keep quiet.

I do try to stay towards the front, I've just been caught out for one reason or another and haven't wanted to expend a huge amount of energy simply to move up in the same group. I will certainly by trying to change this in the next few! Ahh thanks for that, my pronunciations are terrible sometimes so I can only apologise for that, any others just let me know!

One final point I would like to make is that since I have been uploading to YT, I try to never pause the race, which has certainly made it more challenging for me. I think it simulates real life well though, if I'm not quick enough to follow an attack then I've missed it, just like real life.

Thanks again for the comments and for watching, I will certainly take these into account going forward! The second half of the season will be quiet for Remco, so hopefully I can have the main issues ironed out going into season two!

EP5 of the Remco Evenepoel series is here! Remco continues competing in the Volta Catalunya. After his solid start in Spain, Remco need to perform well as team leader Enric Mas appears to be struggling. Geraint Thomas, Alejandro Valverde and Sam Oomen have emerged as the race favourites, it will be very interesting to see how Remco can do in such company.

Great result. Usually I dont care about the U25 jersey too much, but given his age and stats and everything else, thats a terrific result in catalunya

Thanks mate. No I don't either, it means more when your competing against riders with four or five years on you though! Mas was very disappointing which was a shame.

Welcome back to the Remco Evenepoel pro cyclist! After a decent run in Spain, we find ourselves in Turkey. With the one-day classics in full flow, a weak field is present for a World Tour event. Remco will be the Quick-Step team leader for the first time too.
