Wow, I remember that David Veilleux story, I used to follow it very closely and it looks like as if it were only yesterday. Can't believe how the years fly past. Pfft

I used to follow that one closely too Pfft

Also @ baseball - I think the forum redesign must have been before 2009, cuz it was before my time, and I browsed the forum in 2008 I think and joined in 2009 at some point and its looked the same (except for the Sky-daily thing) since then.

Found a screenshot from 2008. That was before my time, never saw the design like that. Must admit that I kinda like it that way:

David Vellieux. One of the classic stories back then. One of several great stories, actually. But I enjoyed that one for sure.

That actually looks pretty neat. First time seeing that design, too.

Nothing like nostalgia to rise the daily post count and keep a thread active, even if for a while. Pfft

I also never seen it like that but it looks good! And I see "most active forummers" and a poll, it would be nice to bring it back maybe? Could encourage further activity in the site.

Yeah, polls were cool. They were just gone at some point, couldn't even tell you when. They weren't updated very often, so eventually they weren't much of a noteworthy feature.

The most active forum posters might be cool to have now too. Back in the heyday of spam that might have been counterintuitive, but nowadays I could see it being a useful feature to spark activity a bit. or at the very least, it wouldn't hurt.

Hey, hey, everyone Smile long time no see!
How's everyone doing?

The news circus in Belgium about Belgian opening weekend brought me back here again. With some spare time on my hands, I'm even gonna purchase PCM18 and enjoy myself a bit the old fashioned way, gaming Wink
Nice to see a few familiar faces here still!

Ian! Nice to see you here. PCM 18 and some spare time.. A PCM Story, anyone? Pfft

Haha, as much as I'd want to: 'Know Thyself'.
Me and finishing stories have a bad history. I couldn't do a long-term story based on gaming.
Maybe a short, maybe. We'll see.

I've actually been working on some short stories, but they revolve around a fantasy world where the game of Go (Weiqi/Baduk) has actual magical powers.

Speaking of old designs, I got a little nostalgic and used the Wayback Machine to find the first two PCM-related sites I made back in 2001 and 2002 for the two first editions of the game (named Cycling Manager / CyM back then). Enjoy Wink

Wow, can't believe you were making sites at 13! Damn. And even years later, I can't believe you made this site when you were younger than me. That's some major skill (and guts), and look at how successful it's been! You've got a lot to be proud of Crue, and we've got a lot to thank you for!

Fun fact: Back in those CyM1 days in 2001/02, I organized the first ever World Championship. Not really sure how I pulled that off, aged 13/14

Anyway. It was the experience from those sites - and a few others - that led to the creation of PCM.daily. Would definitely not have been the success it ended up being without all those amateurish sites from 2001 and onwards.

I've in the last few days been thinking of taking another crack at a story, coincidentally, although its probably a very bad idea, since I'm quite busy with school and planning a trip in the summer. Pfft I think it would be more of a a few major updates per year, rather than a stage by stage story though.

Story story story!

@Crue: nice bits there, thanks for sharing. Always interesting to see, where things got started and how they became bigger.

I'm preparing to continue at least my Euskaltel one, but it takes some time due to just using up too much web time for other cycling projects like our db, radsim or other daily projects. Oh, and real life Grin

One can tell from my attempt to run "American Championships" at 12/13 that I did not have the same level of maturity at that age you did. Pfft
