Berlin ProRace
Berlin – Berlin 215.7 km
Welcome to the 7th edition of Berlin ProRace, continually on the MG calendar since 2012.
No one have won this race more than once, last year’s winner Óscar Guerao and 2016 winner Tosh Van der Sande both back to attempt to win it again.
Favorites
Favourites to win race should be only sprinters with a good combination of sprint and acceleration, but also a decent stamina and high speed on the flat may play a part in this.
Degenkolb the rider to beat, being the best sprinter in the race with no clear disadvantages.
Right beneath him we got, Mohs, Ewan and Cavendish all top sprinters with good support skills. Even if they don’t win the race they all will expect a podium.
Then we got Guerao, Goss, Vantomme, Vanderbiest. Guerao the strongest sprinter of these, the others with slightly better acceleration.
Many other team has a strong sprinter, may not be likely winner but with a shot at a top ten or better on the right day, Saber, Appollonio, Itami, Stauff, Roelandts, Moser, Castañeda, Van Asbroeck, Lavoine and Granjel Cabrera.
Teams like Xero Racing p/b Octagon and Nordstrom – BioWare with Rowe and Boivin looking for a small miracle to get a good result and may well chose to put riders in a breakaway same goes for Ayubowan! and Generali – EDF without sprinters likely to get a top result.
List of sprinters:

Having a rider like Roelandts, i could see a result from a Top5 like in DUC to a no show, with a Top10 kinda likely. We'll see what happens

Hooray, racing again. Cav has decent support if Willwohl can remember his role so expecting a podium.
Thanks for the preview Tamijo.

Certainly I can't expect Appo to do anything here, but he's the only chance we've got.

Hopefully Itami can do something here. Looks like we could have a shot at maybe a Top 5 if we're lucky.

Aussie double back on the road. Big man Burghardt to pull. All-round Yates to attack/lead-out. Good team, strong one. Obviously we've got to be challenging to the win and being outside the Top5 is a failure.
Not giffed in a while but they're always still ready to go for the team!

Second goal race of the season! But that Top 5 goal looks out of reach realistically. Hopefully Saber gets into the Top 10, which should be par for the course in this race. Decent flat squad to back him up too.
Thanks for the preview

Great race for the team! Rodriguez in the breakaway was nice to see, and then Roelandts with a powerful sprint from way behind to get a Top10 result. Really worthy to have signed him even if it's a one-year deal

Seems like Meyer didn't want to sprint today. That's fine.
Grats to beagle for a very well-deserved win and thank you Tamijo for the quality report as always. |

Deserved victory of course. I was hoping for more from Van Asbroeck after his initial positioning but that cost him too much energy it seems.
Thanks for the report!

Spot on. At least I'm not disappointed when I can see his limitations.
Thanks for the report Tamijo, congrats Iberia on the win!

That was a lot worse than I was expecting. Atleast Arashiro did something for us.

Solid race from Appo. About what we expect and need from him here. 6th place is nothing special, but solid and gets us some points, so I can't complain. Could have been a lot worse.
Thanks for a great report Tamijo!

Degenkolb with the well deserved win, great job. And finally Guerao kicking it again for Bikex, which is a very good sight!

On the podium, just what we needed. Hoped Ricki could do slightly better than 18th but we got the podium so it's fine. And the rest of the team was reasonable, Marcus being nicely visible late on even if not exactly helpful.
Job done, can't wait to get Ewan trained!
