Holy crap. Insane. he was only 62.
Ever since I started following cycling over ten years ago, some thing have been constant. The earth spins, the seasons change, and Phil and Paul call the TDF every year. Certainly they get criticism, but nobody can argue they are anything less than an iconic duo. And poof, he's gone.
Rest in peace.

RIP Paul Sherwen, born in my town, Widnes, hero in this part of the world, absolutely devastated, teenage years of listening to his commentary, what a brilliant person he was, huge loss to the Cycling community

Just caught up with the news.. So sad.. I never got to be hearing him live but his and Liggett's voice brings all kinds of nostalgia. From when I used to see the filed 2011 Tour's highlights of every stage on ESPN which is something that I'll always remember for sparkling my passion in cycling, from the hundreds of times I've watched Tour highlights videos with his voice. Oh well, when I was born he was comentating the Tour for 15 years so I can't even express the sadness this may be to others RIP.

Shit, what awful news. One half of cycling's voice for me my whole childhood. You will be missed Paul. Rest in Peace
24/02/21 - kandesbunzler said “I don't drink famous people."
15/08/22 - SotD said "Your [jandal's] humour is overrated"
11/06/24 - knockout said "Winning is fine I guess. Truth be told this felt completely unimportant."

The Santos Down Under will also not be the same next month, I have got so used to Phil Liggett and Paul Sherwen's commentary on that race every January, it will never be the same again!

I'll miss him forever and always remembering him saying "...this afternoon..." every second sentence..
What a personality he was.

Legendary voice. I remember watching older editions of the Tour on ESPN Classic with both him and Liggett commentating. Shame the network stopped operating in Portugal. May he rest in peace. |

Wow, I am shocked! RIP.
He was 1/2 of my favourite commentary team. He may not have been the most technical commentator but I loved listening to him and Phil growing up, as they just made the racing more exciting. Now that we dont get their coverage here in Canada the last few years, I've definitely missed them. I was recently just watching back a lot of the old TDFs on youtube and they truly are the voice of the Tour for me.

Here in Portugal some news state that Dani Moreno might join the W52/FC Porto armada for 2019, in what should be an exciting transfer as I can't really recall such laureate rider racing for a Portuguese team in a few years. |

Honestly I only remember seeing Moreno racing once this season.. It'd be "exciting" but even if it happens it's porbably the same as Arroio, Trofimov, Silin which I haven't even seen this season here.

Ok, maybe “exciting” wasn’t the right adjective to use there. Perhaps interesting, for the reasons stated previously, as his palmares is wider than those guys you mentioned. But no doubt that, considering he’ll be 38 next year, Moreno’s role will probrably be a supporting one for Alarcon.
And both Trofimov and Silin felt like sun bathing and partying last year, no wonder they have been missing. |

You missed the biggest one: Corendon-Circus
That's Mathieu van der Poel on the cobbles and/or Ardennes!
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.
