Giro d'Italia Discussion

I guess it really was just a fluke win for Tzortzakis at the beginning, because he have been useless ever since, not even once performing to his actual level of 81 sprint, being among the top 6 sprinters in the competition.

Oh well. Atleast both Chamorro and Vasyliv survived today. Faglum Karlsson throwing 6 minutes surely is a blow towards his pretty good chances to land 3rd in the U25 competition.

I would have loved seeing Wyss taking the win here. Such a cool rider! Too bad he ran out of gas 100m too early :/

Mansilla with another great result. Im actually quite surprised that he seems to be better than Dzamastagic here but seeing him beat guys like Demare is super sweet - not gonna lie about that Pfft

Vosekalns losing time yet again but i dont really care because his aggressive racing in the mountains is so much more fun to follow than the difference between a top 25 and a top 40 GC so ill take that Pfft

Always good to see the PCT teams get something, congrants Philips!
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Which is on a much higher level than Ciolek Pfft I would have given a lot for a stage win here, that's for sure!

Seems like the team has given up on him as well, with no leadout try there, which is weird. I'm just disappointed, really. This was supposed to be a highlight of the season, particularly because of Ciolek and the train he has here. Instead he's sprinting far worse than he does when he's on his own, like in Qatar, where the competition also was much tougher.

Wants 5th, gets 6th. Frown (and of course it would be Evonik denying us..)

What a mess of a sprint yet again. I mean, how on earth can there be 6 Puma riders in the frame with 3k to go and our sprinter is not among them? What is Mansilla doing in Felline's wheel?

Oh well, breakaway magic time.

Yeah, looking at the show here, I am fearing for something similar from Coquard in the Vuelta really...

Avelino, you son of a gun. You had the team chasing the break, you had a train, you even had Machado in that train. How dare you finish outside the top10.

At least you're not as bad as Herklotz, so I'm giving you another chance before chopping you off!

Anyway congrats to Philips and thanks for another report roturn!

This is not normal, two consecutive days with decent performances from my team.
Silvestre finally wakes up for life and manages to obtain worthy results of registration, pity that the victory has not yet arisen.

Now we need days in super form on the part of Cattaneo, the top 10 will be difficult to reach but at this moment would be what could save us this race.

Can't be mad with another podium from Van Poppel. I'm glad the training got him from a rider who wasn't even involved in a lot of sprints to podium candidate in Giro.

Olsson was brought here to join the breaks, and he has been good at that. Unfortunately he's not exactly the strongest climber, but he has done very good som far, collecting a few points every day.

Relatively happy with Stake Laengen and Iturria also. Steady riding all the way, except for on the flat stage where they got gapped. Must say that I hope to see them in the breaks later on though, as Olsson so clearly isn't good enough in the mountains.

Not the biggest of chances amongst the top, top best, but certainly some lower top 10 who won't be to happy about that stage. Thanks for the report, roturn!

Morton will never win a thing, I guess. Not sure how he is still 4th here, but he barely looks stronger than someone like Hirt, so I fear there is a chance that he will have to fight hard to defend a somewhat okay 4th place in the GC.

Dyball in the mix for a Top-30 placement is good news though. Would like to see Smith in some breakaways in the last week.

David Abal is starting to look really fine! In top 10 now keep that place!

Another day in the break. Nice!
A Big Thank You To All MG Reporters!

Wow, what an effort by Hirt! Attacking as the first of major GC guys and then staying in the Maglia Rosa group and finishing 3rd. Already making the history here for Czech cycling. Grin Still a lot of stages left though, but things are looking fantastic so far for our hopes to get a top 10 result here. Smile

The battle for the win also looks interesting. If Amador can keep his gap close in the next stage, he could jump into the lead in then coming TT. Dombrowski also surely will have something to say in this. Morton does not look as good as expected though.

Oh and Vosekalns attacking in every stage is getting boring. Stop it, CyaAI, please! Pfft

Once again, thanks for the report!

Good from hayakawa on 13. Choi just isn't doing quite as well as I thought. Kind of a waste here as I was hoping he'd challenge for the Top 15 but I dont think that will happen now.

Chamorro surely must be sick or something. He's almost outside the top 50 with 78MO, 75HI and 74ACC... slowly but steadily he's going out of contract. Should be one of those riders fighting for 20-25th in the GC, instead nothing, and also completely destroying our team GC hopes. What a letdown!

Lecuisinier decent, but 9th on the stage leaves a bit of improvement, as he was a 2 star favorite... closing the gap to Guldhammer and Hirt, also not losing too much to Alarcon is the positive, while losing to Hirt is definately not good.

Schleck is super annoying for being on the decline already. Rolling Eyes

Doubtful Demare has anything to offer against that kind of dominance if tomorrow goes his way too, and especially if Amador can't get ahead after the TT.

Kinda have to second this Pfft
It shows one of the big issues of the AI that every stage features the same group of riders in the break and more variation would be nice.

That said his actions seem to be kinda logical. He's clearly forfeiting the GC by saving energy on non-mountainous stages (he was dropped on the last 3 flat stages) so it makes some sense that he tries to join every mountain break. It would be nice to see other similar strong climbers attack too - maybe even a fight for the break after more riders want to join the break than the yellow jersey team would allow.

However since im on the lucky side of things here i obviously dont mind in this instance Pfft
