A new race on the calendar placed in Singapore and Malaysia. From a quick look a weird race with a short prologue and also a short epilogue! Twice a bit under 4km and with 4 stages in total only.
Then in addition a sprint stage with a late hill though as also a similar stage which is hill rated due to longer and a few more climbs close to the finish.
So what does it need to win here? Actually no idea. Surely having a solid prologue is good with 8km in total of prologue riding. Though the hill stage if selective might actually give you a bigger time gap. With a group finishing togehter the prologue again will make the difference between 1st or 10th maybe. So a bit of both surely is handy.
Let`s have a look at the best prologue riders, that have chances to win at least 2 stages here. Chavanne the standout rider here being one of the best actually on short TTs. Same goes for Keough, who is a decent sprinter and might even add on the 2nd stage.
| Prl | Hi | Fl | | Prl | Hi | Fl | Chavanne | 82 | 64 | 75 | Christensen | 77 | 64 | 78 | Keough | 80 | 62 | 73 | Rolland | 77 | 70 | 70 | Robert | 79 | 60 | 67 | Bille | 77 | 74 | 73 | Ignatiev | 79 | 74 | 79 | Ghyselinck | 77 | 68 | 74 | Viviani | 79 | 66 | 78 | Barth | 77 | 58 | 73 | Hansen | 79 | 65 | 77 | Van Aert | 77 | 65 | 73 | Brändle | 79 | 71 | 75 | Navardauskas | 77 | 75 | 75 | Koren | 78 | 74 | 73 | Pszczolarski | 77 | 70 | 73 | Kung | 78 | 73 | 73 | | | | | Kuboki | 78 | 73 | 73 | | | | | Steensen | 77 | 72 | 74 | | | | |
The list of solid puncheurs is long and actually sees some of the very best in Di Maggio or Anuar Aziz.
Though not many have a good TT and Costa and Kwiatkowski already are really stand-out here.
| Hi | Acc | Prl | | Hi | Acc | Prl | Di Maggio | 82 | 75 | 62 | Squire | 77 | 71 | 65 | Anuar Aziz | 81 | 71 | 66 | Skjerping | 77 | 65 | 62 | Costa | 80 | 72 | 76 | Stuyven | 77 | 74 | 58 | Klemme | 80 | 66 | 67 | Grippo | 77 | 69 | 58 | Kwiatkowski | 79 | 75 | 75 | Dieteren | 77 | 66 | 58 | Bilbao | 79 | 75 | 61 | Weiss | 76 | 74 | 68 | Palini | 78 | 74 | 66 | Rabottini | 76 | 68 | 65 | Serry | 78 | 69 | 64 | Nzeke | 76 | 68 | 63 | Barbin | 78 | 76 | 63 | Rovny | 76 | 73 | 63 | Bellis | 78 | 75 | 62 | Honkisz | 76 | 69 | 62 | Roux | 78 | 75 | 62 | Wahyudi | 76 | 67 | 61 | Vanendert | 77 | 71 | 70 | Pavarin | 76 | 76 | 56 |
As said Costa and Kwiatkowski can hill and prologue riding quite well. Others though could be named as well, e.g. Navardauskas or Bazhkou but also on weaker hill climbing some MG all stars in Ignatiev or Koren, who should like the race.
| Hi | Acc | Prl | | Hi | Acc | Prl | Costa | 80 | 72 | 76 | Ignatiev | 74 | 81 | 79 | Kwiatkowski | 79 | 75 | 75 | Koren | 74 | 66 | 78 | Vanendert | 77 | 71 | 70 | Bille | 74 | 75 | 77 | Navardauskas | 75 | 70 | 77 | Hudecek | 74 | 60 | 72 | Bazhkou | 75 | 64 | 76 | Zoidl | 74 | 69 | 72 | Tvetcov | 75 | 73 | 75 | Kung | 73 | 71 | 78 | Rabitsch | 75 | 68 | 75 | Kuboki | 73 | 77 | 78 | Konovalovas | 75 | 73 | 74 | Mygind | 73 | 72 | 76 | Cerny | 75 | 79 | 71 | | | | |
It might be one stage only or maybe 2 maximum for some. But still a lot of solid sprinters. Vanderbiest obviously a big name here and also Salleh or Lavoine have lots of MG history.
As it`s rather hilly finishes on both stages, Van Asbroeck and Van der Sande must be named first though just like Kuboki, who actually is one of the biggest outside favourites, who is a bit below the radar but has the perfect combination.
| Sp | Acc | Hi | | Sp | Acc | Hi | Vanderbiest | 82 | 77 | 64 | Keough | 79 | 79 | 62 | Van Asbroeck | 80 | 78 | 71 | Haussler | 78 | 73 | 68 | Kragh Andersen | 80 | 77 | 64 | Bonifazio | 78 | 78 | 65 | Rowe | 80 | 70 | 62 | Corti | 78 | 76 | 63 | Lavoine | 80 | 78 | 60 | Jones | 78 | 78 | 60 | Salleh | 80 | 80 | 59 | Manan | 78 | 78 | 60 | Kip | 80 | 82 | 56 | Westling | 78 | 74 | 56 | Van der Sande | 79 | 79 | 70 | Kuboki | 77 | 77 | 73 | Pelucchi | 79 | 77 | 68 | Tleubayev | 77 | 77 | 66 | Hayakawa | 79 | 79 | 65 | Lovassy | 77 | 77 | 64 | Bennett | 79 | 79 | 63 | Schorn | 77 | 77 | 61 |

Obviously a big race for us and Keough, need him to find a way to do well in the prologue where he's struggled so far this season and get a good finish in the sprint stage. If he can hold onto whatever lead he might have in the hills would be perfect.

No clue what I was doing at this point, it would appear I sent my full sprint train to a stage race with only one flat stage. So we kinda want a stage win here I guess.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Love this addition to the calendar. Sadly I had no suitable riders for it, so I joined Southland instead.
Also, you're on a roll with these reports lately roturn. Keep it up. |

Hope Stan, Jams, Roux and Tosh can go and get em, but if not I'll cheer for Kuboki or Philips/Netia Thanks for the cool route design admins and a neat rpeview roturn with all the options

With Southland expectedly being a bust, need a good race here from the team. Have put my hopes on the hilly stage being selective, and we need to make that happen as a team. Let's see if the Costa vs Kwiatkowski battle happens or if it is the Prologue specialists who'll take the win here.
Thanks for the preview roturn

Finally a new wiesenhof-race, not big expectations, but if Rabitsch can get a top 10 that would be awesome

I love this route, can lead to a very intersting race!
I'm sorry Abhishek, Kwiat is winning this one. I had hopes for Konovalovas and Hansen when I signed up for this, the course is tough though, so I'd take one of them performing as a success.
Thanks for the preview Roturn, really looking forward to this one!

Hey, uh. I have a different startlist on my planner than I do here, which includes Juul-Jensen. Not sure what the mixup is here, but that's a fairly big deal for me.

I guess stage 2 will be very interesting, and much too hard for Kip unfortunately. Didn't quite spot that before just now.

Obviously no bigger expectations for our amateur team, but maybe Porte can somehow have a lucky day in the opener (and/or epilogue) to steal some points from the better teams. The route at least should suit him quite well. No chance for our sprinter though. Stage two should be interesting, but we do not have a rider for such a terrain.

Nice to avoid Coppel and the other top PCT prologue riders here. Gabby should have a chance to nab 2 stage wins and possibly keep the leaders jersey after the Sprint stage aswell if he can win the opener with enough of a gap to the leading sprinters.
If the hill stage isn't too selective then Weiss might be able to get a decent GC result out of this one also but I feel that may be a big ask.

Can we win with Ignatiev here? Probably not
However, we will surely strive to do so

If Kuboki can do decently on the hill stage, my hope is he can get at Top 10 with his prologue and Sprint ability.

Add in Jans and maybe one of Mohoric or Kump and just imagine the Isostar amazingness if this was last year <3
Not the place to put it, but sorry to those waiting on RVV preview, haven't had time the last three days really to put it together but it's coming soon

Doesn't matter to me. Let's go!
Nah, of course, the race needs to be re-run, if there is a mistake in the startling lineup

Solid first stage, Keough doing his job, now to see if he can back it up on stage 2 and get some bonus seconds to take the leader's jersey!
