A new race on the MG calendar with the Tour of Turkey, which is C2HC rated and hence the full CT division is at the start. From a quick look it needs a good allrounder to perform well, which in first line needs to be a strong climber but also mustn`t be weak on the hills neither.
At least it`s not needed to do well against the clock as it`s not that complete.
In addition to 1 1/2 mountain top finishes and a puncheur stage, the sprinters will get 3 opportunities to shine. That said, all of them have some difficulties, in especially stage 4 with a late Cat.2 and stage 5 with a somewhat looking uphill finish.
The GC should be open until the very last stage as this is the great double HC climb, which should be able to see big gaps.
The big favourites should be those riders in the list below. Kiserlovski maybe the biggest as he is the strongest climber followed by the trio König, Pomoshnikov and Anacona.
A high acceleration obviously helps a lot and hence Bardet, Cataldo and Rodrigues must be named as well.
When going for hill first and secondary climbing, then we also have to name Teuns, Hoelgaard, Lopez as well. As puncheurs they use to have a good acceleration.
| Mo | Hi | Acc | | Mo | Hi | Acc | Kiserlovski | 80 | 75 | 66 | Khripta | 76 | 75 | 69 | Anacona | 79 | 74 | 61 | Degand | 75 | 72 | 73 | Pomoshnikov | 79 | 74 | 66 | Roe | 75 | 73 | 74 | König | 79 | 75 | 67 | Juodvalkis | 75 | 73 | 68 | Rodrigues | 78 | 73 | 72 | Hardy | 75 | 73 | 70 | Elissonde | 78 | 73 | 66 | Zoidl | 75 | 74 | 69 | Bardet | 77 | 74 | 75 | Seibeb | 75 | 76 | 73 | Cataldo | 77 | 74 | 72 | Teuns | 75 | 78 | 72 | Potocki | 77 | 72 | 64 | Vuillermoz | 75 | 73 | 67 | Brajkovic | 77 | 72 | 66 | Lehtinen | 75 | 73 | 67 | Kebede | 76 | 76 | 72 | Hoelgaard | 74 | 77 | 74 | Heider | 76 | 72 | 61 | Lopez | 74 | 76 | 74 |
There are still other strong riders that might appear in the high GC spots as well and are at least favourites for some stages. Suaza surely must be named for the last stage, though his weak hill might prevent him from reaching a good GC. Same goes for Ratiy or Costagli and Diaz.
On the puncheurs side Hategeka and Kadri might be named. Both solid riders but surely struggle to defend their GC position on the last day. Just like his team mate Vichot though, he might fancy the sprint stage after the long descent as both are good puncheurs and then best descenders in the peloton!
| Mo | Hi | Acc | | Mo | Hi | Acc | Ratiy | 80 | 70 | 58 | Hategeka | 72 | 77 | 66 | Suaza | 80 | 65 | 79 | Wahyudi | 72 | 76 | 67 | Costagli | 79 | 71 | 67 | Kadri | 70 | 76 | 78 | Diaz | 78 | 70 | 68 | Umerbekov | 70 | 76 | 73 | Stancu | 78 | 69 | 71 | Ziesler | 70 | 76 | 65 | Hirschlein | 77 | 71 | 59 | | | | | Hacecký | 77 | 70 | 75 | | | | | Pereyra | 77 | 67 | 64 | | | | |
Vanoverschelde as best sprinter on paper, though others might have the better package. Modolo and Kreder likely the best due to their good hill skills with Coutinho also in the mix. Von Hoff´due to his palmares also worth a mention.
Team wise Delvaux, ENI-MOL and Equinor all look strong in support as well with 2-3 other teams also having solid leadout qualities.

Major excitement for this one!! Pinot not present makes it even more likely to see Kiserlovski fight for victory, it has to be now

Would be really surprised if Modolo doesn't come out of this race at least one stage win for Equinor

didnt see much need to send any sprinters here as only Stage 1 should end up in a bunch. MAL is getting his first top 10 GC finally, maybe even a stage win

I'm a little surprised I didn't send Aregger here, I must have missed the rise at the end of stage 5 as I probably would have sent him here if I did instead of one of the other stage races he's attending.
Still Manan is not a bad sprinter himself as he recently proved in Juarez and has previously proved at C1 level back in his Meiji days.
I don't expect anything out of the GC, maybe a KOM hunt or stage win on the hills if we are lucky.

No real GC ambitions here, but we have a very exciting squad with Kreder, Favilli, Vichot, Kadri all present. Hopefully we can fight for a couple of stage wins

I’m excited to see how the team goes here. Von Hoff should be able to grab a stage win or high finish judging from past performances. I’m hoping Roe can lead the team to a strong GC finish as well!
Good luck to all teams involved!!

Wonder with Estifanos Kebede having a rather strong combo of Hill/Mount, will try to make a result for himself or act as domestic.
Guess he will be best placed of our riders before the mountains.

Disappointing result from Bogdanovics, would be nice to see him in the points.
Great to have Yamamoto in the KoM fight though.

If Rui would have fought for KOM pts it would have been the perfect stage. Still 3rd GC and white jersey is a nice start.

As expected, Compal nowhere to be seen on stage 1.
Let the fun begin! |
