Aru wouldn't have asked for much less if you had blocked him. It was anyways not possible for you to keep your team together if you wanted to keep Aru.
About adding real riders: I'm principially not against it, but I guess it could be difficult to do that with having the scouting system in place, where ideally all new riders come from.
What are other people's take on this?
@Ollfardh: What knockout said is indeed the reason why I'd prefer to get your first round earlier, especially as you also have steal attempts on some of your riders. However I checked and the teams that put them are either done with renewals already or new so don't depend on that information. So it's okay if you do renewals on monday.
Allianz is the only one I really need round 1 now asap. |

exactly what I did think about Aru.
About the real riders thing. I think the current scouting system gives team a reward for the money spent on scouting. I definately think it's good to give rewards based on money spent. However new teams don't get these chances and won't have any talent in their first season.
So IMO it could be cool if we give teams a chance of grabbing a talent. I've worked out a small idea.
Every team gets 100 coins extra to sign an extra rider. However this rider doesn't count for the total amount of riders. This rider I will call the stagiare from now on.
At the start of the season every team has to make a choice out of all real CT/PCT or WT riders who are 23 years or younger. He will have a limited amount of race days (probably for a whole year/ or from august). The stagiaire will get a contract in the next season but can't be stolen
The manager can choose which rider he want as a stagiare. I will make a small example.
Name Rider: Egan Bernal
Birthdate: 13th January 1997
Favourite stat: Mountain
Secondary stat: Mountain
I guess Bikex could make a stat profile out of these informations. However i would think of including 2 random generators.
1 for the potential: Pot 5 (60% chance) Pot 6 (30%) Pot 7 (10%)
1 for the starting stats: High stats (33.33%) Medium Stats (33.33%) Low Stats (33.33%) ofc without to many difference between high and low. Also the age of the riders should be taken in mind when creating those stats.
It doesn't matter whether the rider is good irl. or not. So every team should get a chance about finding that Pot 7 rider.
It's just a small idea, hope you like it.

The ICL isn't real. It's also not the MG. The fake riders are part of what makes the ICL unique and interesting, at least for me. Adding in real riders similar to their real selves shifts it close to the MG which i don't think is a good idea.
You could use real names, but the stats and potential would have to be randomised to fit the scouting system, and at that point they're not real riders anyway!

I dont like adding RL riders previous to scouting or outside of scouting but i wouldnt mind if managers can rename their new signed scouted riders to RL riders from the same year of birth.
A Big Thank You To All MG Reporters!

You'd always end with a mix of real and fantasy names. I'd prefer to end up with only fantasy riders.

I just did the renewals but the values don't automatically pass to the PM sheet.. I think its the same issue as in the Steals file, Bikex can you see if it's really something?

I had tried to post here earlier that I can't send renewals before monday, but it seems like it hasn't gone through? If it did, sorry for double post.

I don't think having real riders would be a problem for the game. One reason real riders weren't added is because ICL is supposed to run faster than reality, so talents added are too young to know.
However due to some motivational breaks I have taken every now and then we are not far ahead of reality. Still Albanese who krisa suggested would already be too old to be from this year's batch of new riders already.
So in the longterm renaming will also not work, as real riders in the age of the riders added aren't really known yet.
The problem when not adding real riders is that at some point, there will be barely real riders, so it will probably more difficult for new managers to build a connection to the game and their teams, as there is no connection to real life anymore. This is one reason why I decided to let them pick a talent from the pool prior to transfers already, so they earlier get more connected to the team they are building.
Another measure is to try and keep the process of the game known. How the riders that people know from the real cycling world developed in this game should be easily accessible. So far that is possible with the archive file. I have also thought about adding a new thread with an overview (or two). One would give an overview of the seasons of ICL so far, with who won what race and what teams existed and stuff like that. Also I have thought aboutsomething like a hall of fame where the achievement of famous retired riders will be shown. Haven't really had time to properly think about that though and it doesn't exactly fit to the discussion about adding real ridders, just some ideas I had.
I like your idea krisa and have thought about it, but there are some issues: The approximate amount of potential 7 (and pot 6) riders added to the game each year is controlled so there won't be too many strong riders in the future, so adding more pot 7 riders will in the longterm be a problem for the database matrix. I wouldn't really like to force people to have to choose a real rider. Also having a rider with a different status on a team will require some additional work with my files to consider them.
If you want I can add Albanese as a potential 5 rider. That wouldn't break anything in the game and can be easily done. If anyone also wants a rider in the game really badly that is missing let me know, I guess that can be managed. However only will add riders that are worth it, not some unknown guys.
@Yellow Jersey: I honestly don't know why the file wouldn't work for you. It's the first time ever it doesn't work for someone and I have used basically the same file for years. Just send me the Offer column straight from the "Renewals" tab.

I just knew it was Vittel who outbid me on Kwiatek. Once again, nice catch!

I wanted Morton to leave the team either way to save my focus on Poles/Colombians/Italians. So whoever got him, good for you. You probably saved some money for FA round |

Wait a sec, is Wilier still CT but bid 1800 on Aru. If that is true, hownis this feasible?

It would mean that my team would have been Moser, Aru, Sanz and domestiques of questionable quality. I didn't put the offer without knowing what could mean to my team. And it was 2150 on Aru

Just want to mention it's no pleasure to steal a rider really, specially under such circumstances, but it's a part of ICL.
Well that being said, Kwiato is a dream for the team. He can ride anywhere and perfectly fits the team's TTT setup, and he ticks every box and alone he's one that deserves a full team behind him
And well for the other CT teams, thanks, I guess

I like the regen rider system a lot and look forward to the days when it's all regen names in the db, about ICL38 however i would not mind if ppl can edit their rider names as knockout suggested.

Quick question: If a rider is IN already (through scouting), do you still have to add his wage to the N column to get the correct wages calculation in N2?
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.
