Pretty good squad you've been putting together here. Gonna be interesting to see if you can find someone to lead or just rely on depth scoring!

Another press conference, another riders decided to join Banco de Bogota.
"For the last couple of days we were very active in terms of talking with other managers. We were looking not only for free agents but also for some very experienced riders from other teams. Some of them are looking for a new place to work. We got few interesting mails and phones and signed a contracts with two very important riders for our team. We are still waiting to confirm other deals before giving the public the informations. We are in contact with some other interesting riders and we are really looking forward to finalize those deals. But we realize that they might not happen at all. It wasn't cheap but both signed cyclists and other free agents will be a great addiction to our project. Ladies and gentleman, we are proud to give you the names of another six riders that from this season will ride with Banco de Bogota. Those cyclists are..."

Sepulveda is one hell of a stage racer for CT level, and with Abreu and Craddock you seem to have well covered that type of races.
Anacona isn't the best climber around but still should be solid to get some results

Hope you'll enjoy Anacona. I had some uses for him in the PCT, but in the end I couldn't resist an offer from his nation's own team.
Will follow him in CT for sure! |

Wow, what a team!
Looks like a very balanced squad with strength in depth, should be a force to be reckoned with on road

These are probably the last riders that will join Banco de Bogota this year. One name is a real deal. Former CT individual ranking winner! From 2014, but still:
Last name | First name | FL | MO | HI | TT | ST | RS | RC | CB | SP | AC | FI | DO | PR | Parra Bustamente | Heiner Rodrigo | 69 | 77 | 74 | 67 | 73 | 74 | 77 | 51 | 51 | 71 | 75 | 65 | 66 | Rodrigues | Vitor | 70 | 78 | 73 | 67 | 71 | 74 | 70 | 56 | 63 | 72 | 74 | 68 | 67 | Losch | Max | 71 | 52 | 65 | 62 | 70 | 67 | 74 | 70 | 76 | 77 | 78 | 63 | 66 | Wallays | Jelle | 72 | 63 | 75 | 69 | 72 | 71 | 70 | 64 | 64 | 69 | 82 | 64 | 69 |
"We decided to sign few riders from Europe too. We know how hard it is to build a team using only riders from your own country or very close regions. We decided to give it a go and signed those lads. Regions that have an amazing talents have a potentially easier job to do a team with a full nationality focus. Like Belgium, Netherlands, Italy, France and on and on. Colombia might be one on the list of those countries. We could do the team using only Colombian riders, but just after transfer season opened we realized it's impossible to create a decent team. We discussed that. Then we signed few riders from countries where you can find few our bank subsidiaries. But it was still not enough. Few riders from Europe will give us some knowledge about european cycling. And we hope those riders will be a great addiction to our team. We still know we will be able to sin two riders via draft system before season starts. We are looking through the free agents list very intensely to find interesting riders."
Full roster updated in post with riders for 2018. |

At the last press conference we got to know many details related to the development of the Banco de Bogota team. The whole composition of the team and calendar for the upcoming season were presented to the journalists.
"We are aware of how hard the upcoming season is going to be. Our team looks really solid and the entire management is happy with what we have managed to create together. The riders are here to show what they really can do. We have the former individual winner of the continental ranking, who will probably spend the last years of his career again in the continental division. There is also Sepulveda. His results will be the most important for us. Of course, we can not underestimate other riders who will help our four main leaders in the mountains. Those riders are: Sepulveda, Anacona, Rodrigues and Parra Bustamente. Their goal is to collect as many points as possible in the ranking. When it comes to sprinters, we had a small problem with that. There were a lot of them on the transfer market and choosing those who were the best, and at the same time interested in joining our team, was not an easy task. We tried our best and managed to hire few interesting riders. We don't have a single cyclist who will be the leader, but that doesn't mean that all flat races will look like ridden without any logic. The rest of our team will also have a chance to prove themselves, but their main job will be to help our leaders. We hope that this season will be successful for us. Although our goal is to be in the top 10 in the team rankings, we are counting for something better."
Banco de Bogota for the upcoming season will look like this:

Some very cool riders and plenty of stage racing depth there, top 10 will be a hard push (he says, not having looked closely at the CT) but I do like it as a base and a very cool regional one. Sepulveda is an awesome rider, I would have hoped for some better races for him in the C1 days but in Hong Kong especially I'm still looking forward to him racing ToA could be very good for you too

A lot of depth for stage races. Some very interesting riders there like Sepulveda, Craddock, Parra Bustamente or of course Vitor Rodrigues that should surely do well for you. Could you use all those climbers well or do you feel like you have too many climbers for too few mountainous RDs?
I like your decision to go to Tour of America. With the way your team is set up that is a quite obvious step but it rarely fits a team as well as yours
A Big Thank You To All MG Reporters!

jandal7; All I can spoil now is that probably in Tour of America you will see a continental version of Sky train . Secondly, I looked at the other teams in CT and I can say now that I might be expecting 7-8th place in the final ranking. I can see only 2 or 3 teams with better depth than mine.
knockout; Yeah, I had some troubles with a planning, but everything ended well. ToA isn't my goal race, but I'm really looking forward to race in it, because my team is going to be really strong there. |

Just in the few days, the first competition in the upcoming season will begin. It is not ranked for the rankings, but it will give a great view of the situation. Thanks to these competitions, you will be able to see some very interesting riders in action. Those young and experienced ones.
International Hill Climb Championship
Length: 5.3km
Average Gradient: 13.8%
MO Ratio = 0% (completely Hill)
Cobbles = 1 star
Length of Cobbles: 1.7km
"The race will be held up the notoriously steep slopes of the brutal Dent De Jaman, there's a section of rough cobbled road - though it'd only score 1 star in Paris Roubaix - which will make things extra difficult for the punchuers - certainly this will be an interesting test for the riders!"
General Manager of Banco de Bogota said: "It will be a great test to see how this type of event works. We'll try to give our best. We hope that Jelle Wallays will be able to fight for advance to the next round, although we realize that this will not be easy."
The chances of advance are rather miserable. The start list is full of specialists from both terrains. Hills and cobbles. Jelle Wallays is the biggest outsider in his group. There are 8 races: 4 groups of 6 and 4 groups of 7 riders. First 4 of each group advance. Jelle is in the group D which looks like this:
| Group D: | | | | Dieteren | Jan | | Gaday | Lucas Manuel | | Moscon | Gianni | | Polanc | Jan | | Wallays | Jelle | | Watson | Calvin |
Moscon, Dieteren & Watson are better riders in hills category than Wallays. Gaday and Polanc are specialist of riding on the cobbles. Jelle is the only rider from CT. Also his average is the lowest. Like his wage. Chances? 5%. We would like to see him advance, but we know it's almost impossible. We wish him, of course, all the best! |

It's time for our little preview of what might happen in the upcoming season. We are presenting to you races that our leaders will participate in. Long story short! We will not be doing regular previews for each month. Yet we will do some sort of review after every race. At least we will try as a team! One word about International Hill Climb Championship. Jelle Wallays and 5th place in his group. 20'47" and only three riders had better time except those before him in the group encounter. He didn't qualify for the next round, but we are proud he did his best still being able to have one of the fastest times.

We were looking very closely to the previews of other journalists talking about upcoming season in CT. We know how hard this season will be. And our riders are not first class performers. We still are hoping that even with those not so optimistic previews, we will be able to fight for top 10 in the final team standings. Let the party begin! Again! |

31.01 Clasique Pico Basile C1
"It was an amazing feeling to get the season under way" - General Manager dominox has said in the interview after the race.
"We weren't actually very confident before the start. It was our first race as a team and we wanted to show ourselves in the TV. We didn't have any expectations. No experience in the CT races so we had to do it save. We didn't try to be in a breakaway as we were to far to even think about it. First half of the race was very hard. It would cost our riders to much energy to try and join them at the front. Maybe next time."
Rodriguez was still in the first group of favourites at 11km from the finish. So there was a chance for the top 10 place in the end.
"At the end both Anacona and Rodrigues weren't able to follow other riders to finish this race on better place. Still three of our riders scored first points in the rankings. Decent performance, and fair enough start for our team. We definitely got boost in our confidence."
Henao Montoya with his win.

31.01 Great Ocean Road Classic C2HC
We had a first mountainous classic this season, but on the same day it was also a flat classic. Our sprinters are not the best in the world, but we are giving them the freedom. Whoever feels the best - is our leader. If anything, we have an amazing train for potential leader.
"The race ended in the way we didn't want it to end. Breakaway was really strong today, but I think the peloton didn't want to chase the breakaway really hard because of really strong wind. Those were the really hard conditions. We were expecting something more at the end. 20th place isn't what we were looking for, but it's an acceptable result. Maybe in future it will be better."
Johannes Schinnagel with a surprising victory.
Jacopo Guarnieri - the main favourite destroying other sprinters... only fighting for the 3rd place.
