@BenjiNaesen: Thanks
@JMSilva31: Never been this far north in Portugal, but from what I have read and heard it is a splendid city, a historic and cultural place, would really love to go there just the gastronomy would be worth it.
Just out of curiosity, if I would go there, that would be the route - plane to Porto and trian from there?

@Tamijo Viseu is a great city , with lots of culture , we got he old part of city called Centro Histórico and then we have the Sé de Viseu which is our Cathedral, with almost 1000 years , we also have beautiful gardens and some shoppings , its consider one of the best places to live in Portugal , even in front of Porto and Lisbon in some categories.
To come here you actually can get a train to there but there is not a train station in the centre , there is one in Mangualde which is +/- 20 KM to there. |

The 80th edition Volta a Portugal – 2018
The 6th stage (Stage 7 in PCM) starts in Sernancelhe , about 140 km east of Porto. The site have been occupied by humans since pre historic times, the foundation of the current town have likely been connected with a medieval castle built by The Knights of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem, now laying in ruins.
We finish in Boticas, about 130 km northeast of Porto, just 20 km south of the Spanish border, facing Galicia autonomous community in northwest Spain. Although it is today a small community with fewer than 6000 inhabitants, Boticas have been an important location historically, many important Celtic and Roman remains have been found. Historically the town have been based on mining and thermal baths in the area.
We are moving into the mountains again, now in the northern most part of Portugal, the stage is not as hard as the one in Serra Estrela, but definitely much harder than yesterday, a semi-mountain stage with a relative late climb where significant time can be lost or gained.
The start in Sernancelhe
Finish in Boticas
Ingame on a very wet day:
zcts files will be uploaded for a limited period when all stages have been done

@sali: If you got a link to the route, it is of course posiable and would look into it but could take some time before I was free space to look at it.
@Francisco: As I said before, the pace will be slower but it will be done.

The 80th edition Volta a Portugal – 2018
The 7th stage (Stage 8 in PCM) starts in Montalegre a Portuguese village belonging to the District of Vila Real, about 135 km northeast of Porto and just 8.5 km south of the Spanish border. The municipality have been occupied by humans at least over the last 3500 years; the village itself was likely founded in the 1100's or at the latest before 1273.
We finish in Viana do Castelo, the northernmost Atlantic city in Portugal, about 70 km north of Porto. The natural port in the mouth of Lima river makes it an historical important city both as part of the Portuguese discoveries and trade with Atlantic Europe, at the time known as “Viana da Foz do Lima” it received town rights in 1258.
From the mountains we are moving to the coast, in the northern most part of Portugal, the stage undulated but not very hard, there is a lot of small up and down and in the end the cat.3 up to the finish line at Sanctuary of Stª Luzia. If raced hard it could split and create substantial gaps, but more often it will only produce important gaps on the last climb.
Start in Montalegre
Finish in Viana do Castelo

Hi Tamijo, love the stages in Volta Portugal, great decoration and feels like in portugal too. One quick tip, when doing a roundabout change the width from 1 to 2, as it is much realistic and doesn't cause breakups in crucial moments.
Thanks

The 80th edition Volta a Portugal – 2018
The 8th stage (Stage 9 in PCM) starts in Barcelos a city located by Rio Cávado, in Minho Province, about 50 km north of Porto. Approximately 1177 Barcelos received town rights (carta de foral). Today the city has a population of about 120.000.
We finish in Braga, the city dated back to second century BC, founded by Romans and later capital of the Roman province Galécia. The city was captured and heavily damages by the Moors in 715. Recaptured in 868 by the christian Kingdom of Asturias. Today the city has a population of about 200.000.
The stage starts along the Cávado river vally and is rather flat, but later we pass more climbs and the last two climbs may not be as hard as the once we have seen earlier in the race, but coming close to the finish, they can definitely have influence on the outcome of the race.
Start in Barcelos
Finish in Braga

Tamijo great to see you making my home race. If you need some advice you can send message.
About the stages already done I have some suggestions. The finish in Braga, in fact there is a river in the town but it is really really narrow, maybe 1-2 meters wide maximum. In my opinion it will be more realistic if you remove the river.
When I made stages with finish in Braga I never added the river.
The finish in Viana do Castelo, the final climb is basically just forest, zero houses alongside the hill, only the church and a hotel in the top.
