Esmaeli has found the fountain of eternal youth Pfft

Anyway, we make our PT debut in a race where under normal circumstances we shouldn't make any impact. But with pancake flat routes maybe Drapac feels like doing something, in any case I brought his entire sprint train if he wants to be lead out. Janse van Rensburg for the epilogue, where he targets a top 100.

Maksimov and Zabel. Only two ways this can go: Unexpected harmony or tantrums in the team bus after the race. Either one will make for a fun race.

Let's see if Grosu's training will provide an improvement on last year.

Btw, what's up with some of my riders' names in the startlist?

Can't explain why ingame startlist shows it like that, they are fine in the race itself

Hehe... thanks for a screenshot of Howson Grin

It was the first time I saw something like that and I was wondering if somebody has an explanation.

The rider names on the startlist is a known issue for some time now. Sometimes they are right, sometimes wrong and rather random.

Not sure if resolution or anything plays a role but tested several things and still had them randomly right or wrong.

Just on the startlist view. Nowhere else.

Breakaway success is unlikely in this tour, so I expect us to score very little points. Showing up in the reports at all would already be a good result.

Good luck to all the contestants!

With 10 (!!) 83+ sprinters coming to Qatar, it must be the most stacked field in MG history. In such competition, it´d be interesting who build their sprint train and how many of 2nd tier sprinters will be completely ignored by AI. With no pressure on result this season, I´m really looking forward to income of this awesome race!

Seriously important race for both Aegon and Festina. Their teams are oriented to their sprinters so a strong result is needed. Swift is the main favourite, with their massive train. If that doesn't work then Coquard should be next in line.

Avelino hasn't had the worst of results here actually despite his backup stats. To expect a victory is a bit too much but I'm hoping he can be competitive inside the top10

cio93 wrote:on that topic, why would Porto-Prio not send Leung?

Well, I've oriented much of his season to prologues. With such a short team and a few riders to develop I had to make a few sacrifices. Anyway I don't think the epilogue will be that decisive in the GC.

Nice to see Degenkolb take it after last years weak performance.

Not ideal though that my team sucks now. Not sure who made the tactics but why is Dumoulin attacking instead of keeping the sprint train organized....

Swift with a stage to forget and all but 2 podiums on the next two stages make it a race to forget already.

Qatar can be a nice race but can also be super annoying at times. Pfft

Hoping for better on stages to come.

What happened there? Grosu seemed in a perfect position and then he just... stopped.

Drapac, Esmaeli and Janse van Rensburg, the three important riders not dropped. The others were, which means they have to learn how to handle wind.

10th may not be too bad after all Grin

Quite a split there! Not too happy with just Dempster and - fortunately - Dennis left in GC contention. You always hope for your TT guys to survive in the front group.. So Dempster and Dennis now better be recognized as our two most important riders behind Howard!

Gratz, beagle.

Man, echelons right from the get go, this is going to hurt!

Degenkolb back to his legendary form is a nice sight. Bewley and Coquard doing very well, while Aegon will want to forget this stage.

Nice to see eager Avelino at the front, but like Ahlstrand too early on the wind to be competitive. I hope 19th is the very worst to come from him in this race. Please, ok?

It started well, but turned out to be a very poor stage for us. Boeckmans quite far behind and then Kragh Andersen also losing over five minutes and thus our hope of him fighting for the U25. At least De Bod did a good stage, but really poor to only have two riders (and that's including one rider from the break) in the first group. Need to improve that for the coming stages.

Van stayen missing the top 10 is far from ideal but i take this as an actually very promising start. The echeloms were awesome for us. I claim to be partially responsible for it to happen and all 8 Evonik guys finished in the first group which especially is good for Stoltz chances for a nice GC.

Getting a leadout is what i hoped for when deciding Van Stayens training and is a great sign for the season. Too bad it blew up which might be due to Mansilla who is not ideal for this and apparently already worked a lot in the first half of the stage which is obviously not clever.

Thanks fpr the report. That was an excellent sprint coverage!

Can't complain with Coquards performance. 3rd is good enough, although that close to Bewley for 2nd makes it a bit sour. Still that is what happens. Degenkolb snatching maximum points away from the already crowded PT sprint bunch sucks, but I can't whine about that seeing what happened in my first CT race...

Jocelyn Bar was a powerhouse there at the end, too bad he wasn't able to lead out Coquard instead, as that 6th place is basically worthless with his 61 prologue stat. Had it been Emerson Santos with his 74PRL stat it would have been a gift!

Losing out both Santos and Vlatos already with huge losses is really bad. Vlatos was an obvious top 15 GC rider here and it was one of only 3 key races for him this season, so I hope he can atleast fight for the stagewin in the end. Emerson Santos would have been the 3rd and final rider to give us a chance to fight for the Team GC (or atleast top 5), which is now gone as we only managed to have 2 riders in the front group.

So a good start and a bad start. In terms of winning the race outright it was good, in terms of maximizing team points a very bad one.

Indeed... In hindsight GVA could have probably been the difference between van Stayen top 5 GC and him winning the race, though.

Well looks like a quiet race here then. No breakaway attempts and the echelons already destroyed our GC hopes for Kittel.

This was not the best of beginnings for Silvestre at one point seemed to have difficulties but at least managed not to waste time.
I am pleased that Schachmann has joined the break, won the sprints and in the end wasted no time. Of course this is only the first stage and nothing is won or lost I only hope Silvestre and Van Winden continue without losing time.

congrats beagle and thanks for the report
