Without a proper climber and puncher it will be very interesting to see how it goes.
It's going to be a weird season, but hopefully we can grab a ton of points on all timetrials and sprint stages to make up for our inability in the hills. Hopefully Palini steals enough hill points to allow us to do well.

Planning is going to be an interesting one. Vanderbiest and Lo Cicero probably won't ride together often but the way we split our sprint train will be difficult to figure out when races overlap.
Coppel is going to be a monster this year, hopefully we're able to plan him to make him a super high scorer this year.

Don't think Coppel is a gamble in the slightest, considering he scored top 20 in the PT, I think the trasition down to the PCT means at least a top 15 finish from him.
Lo Cicero is going to be a tough one because if he performs like 2016, we're going to be in an amazing spot, but if he performs like last year, it may be a bit more of a struggle. |

When I commented after you got Petit, I thought you’d stuck with VdH, and would have some guys to get over the anything-but-flats!
Big gamble to more or less ignore the hills/mountains.
Will be really keen to see how the team performs, and I definitely can’t fault your balls. Maybe securing some rapid dudes is the way to stick around the PCT, we’ll see

Not sure if my strategy is too ballsy, Lo Cicero Vanderbiest and Coppel should all be top 50 riders in the individual standings seeing their track records+the train we've developed.
Although I think the X factor is really going to be how many points Palini can grab on hilly stages. But I don't expect to relegate but i don't expect to finish too high up eitherAfter the transfer season, we only have a few riders who remain from the team that promoted to PCT last season as we've jumping into a whole nothing team philosophy completely. Effectively we swapped all of our riders except 3 to do a complete revamp of our team. We definitely added a ton of age with our squad, but added talents at the same time.

Although we've brough in a bunch of leaders in the Sprints and TimeTrials, clearly we've sacrificed a lot of depth in other areas to do so. Namely in the Hills, Mountains and TimeTrials, we've really gutted the depth that we had last year in order to bring in leaders in the Sprints and Cobbles. Also, it's important to keep in mind that we had many riders who decreased due to age since last year, namely Reus, Hugenhaben and Kreuziger.
Despite all this, it'll be very intersting to see if our strategy pays off as we've sacrificed depth for younger talents and bigger leaders.

It has certainly been all change at Carrrefour this off-season with the big swop deal for Coppel and the major shift towards sprint focus.
Given the significant change to 'overall' stat this off-season has had biggest impact on sprinters, it did make that part of the market a little different this year. In your case with Lo Cicero, the Beast and their minions you have to some extent taken a contrarian approach in transfers that has potential for a great return in terms of value - it may very well pay off. Still the likes of Degen-tash, Cav, Mohs, Ewan, et al. to concern you though. An interesting sub-plot to follow for this year's PCT!

Sprinting competition in the PCT is going to be pretty intense, but considering we have Vanderbiest, Lo Cicero and even Petit, we hopefully should be able to score on every flat stage that we enter in.
I definitely went against the grain tho by going with sprinters, but I just didnt see the value in bringing in a climber or puncheur for like 700k or more who'd have 15 riders as good/better than them in the PCT, while I could go for 2 top 10 sprinters for the same value.
It's definitely a weird approach but I'm hoping it pays off, and I'm not super worried about relegation as I feel like if I don't screw up Coppel's planning, he should finish in the top 10 of the CT rankings as no one in the CT can compete with his ability in the timetrial/hill tours w a time trial.
The flat is definitely what's going to make or break us, but hopefully it makes us |

I don't think is a 'weird' approach, just contrarian in this seasons transfers dynamic, so your 'against the grain' comment more in tune with my thinking! Seems like sound logic in all honesty, I wish you well.
I might have been tempted to sacrifice a couple of the extensive lead-out roster for a couple of extra riders in other terrains in your circumstances (or used the money to 'beef up' on better guys than you secured in other terrains if minimum rider numbers allowed). That would have reduced such heavy reliance on the sprinters group. Hindsight is a wonderful thing though, easy to say this sitting here now rather than during the transfer frenzy!
In summary, I guess it looks very much like you have decided the motto for the season is 'go big, or go home' (with the CT awaiting as 'home' in this analogy if things implode!)

Considering we picked most of our races before the transfer season, our races seem to fit perfectly with the team we have. The vast majority of races we are registered in are flat races, with a few hill/cobble races thrown it. We did extremely well to completely avoid the mountains and we got lucky as we have quite a few races that fit Jerome Coppel's style.

He's going to Southland haha
Southland is almost a guaranteed victory if he performs well in the TTs while Jelajah's TT's are both extremely short which will limit the amount of time he can gain before the hill stage.

Planning is most likely going to be the most important part of our season. Coppel is super talented, but maxing out his points would require us sending him to races that cater to his TT/Hill ability. As seen, our planning has gone the route of putting Vanderbiest and Lo Cicero in different races. Hopefully this can maximize the amount of points we can score as a team. In adition, Adrien Petit will lead us in races than neither Vanderbiest nor Lo Cicero will attend.
Apart from that, Petit will be the main leadout in races the Lo Cicero and Vanderbiest attend. Petit will also be an important rider for us in the mildly cobbled races we attend. |

Pretty much what i would have done with Coppel. You were "unlucky" not to pick HC Band 3, as you are missing on a HC GC win for Coppel in Denmark, a race that would go instead of Romandie. Guaranteed +1000 scorer with that calendar

Not sure if you mean he's 1000+ point scorer with our calendar or Denmark, but regardless, thanks for the kind words. I definitely think that Coppel turned out to be a lot easier to plan than what I originally thought. Hopefully it works out haha.

hmm someone someone who's last name starts with a "Ban" and ends with a "aszek" told me that he'd only be interested in moving in exchange for a very large transfer fee!
in all honesty, we're super happy to have him with us and we're happy to develop him. For now i really want him with us over the long term but who knows, things change and every rider has a price |

I'm definitely hoping you're right about Coppel. Him alone will hopefully save us from any relegation chances.
With his calendar im definitely expecting a top 10 individual season at least, but time trials can be random sometimes, so fingers crossed |

We know this is a ton of information to fling at y'all but those are all the notable results that we've had. Clearly our sprinting has been carrying us a ton with Vanderbiest being by far the best out of our sprinters. But we've also had consistent scoring in most races that we attend which has been great! |

That's a little update of all our big results in the last few months, clearly the team is picking it up a lot more in the sprinting department, and Coppel looks well on his way to an absolutely gigantic season for us. 4 Stage wins in his first 7 race days, including a GC and Points victory is absulely massive. It was also really nice to see Petit and Lo Cicero pick up victories. Lo Cicero's victory was his first since the 2016 Italian Championships which is really crazy to think about.
We haven't recieved a rankings update so we aren't really sure how we're placed so far in the PCT, but with all these results, i'd be shocked if we in the relegation fight. Basically, so far, so good! |

11th in the rankings isn't too bad! A lot of big results this month for us with some stage wins from Coppel. Lo Cicero doing some impressive stuff and a few wins is really nice. Petit with some consistent results, but we are still lacking some outside scoring from domestiques and such, hopefully that improves in the coming months |
