I don't know how to interpret the lack of updates on Sagan. Maybe there is no helicopter or service to know the exact time, but I am still interested to know if he is going to make it here.

What do you mean? Sagan is around 35mins after , so he should be pretty secure.

I wasn't 100% sure what the cutoff time was, I saw different numbers on Twitter.

Intresting fact. Thomas did not work a second to secure Froome podium place inside final 5km.

Yeah, and he definitely could have. Might have been the difference.

Not sure. Thomas is not a great downhill rider.

I am 99% sure Porte would have won the tour if he had been there.
Everybody has a plan until they get punched in the mouth.

Why?

You need good downhill riders willing to take risks to make it exciting. Today was a good example.

A downhill finish can be good, but not as the last mountain stage of the Tour. We wasted so many mtn stages as breakaway day. Most of the difference in this race has been made from crashes and the injuries they caused. What a sham.

Ironic that the constant crash bot Thomas wins it a Tour decided by crashes.

In the end I am very glad that Thomas wins in that way Pantani will stay unmatched for a couple of more years. While the Giro-Tour double certainly looked well within reach for Froome (and in hindsight, also Dumoulin), the odds to do it won't be so good anytime soon, imo (competition-wise, recuperation time etc)

Yeah, but the last few km's were not as steep. Could have at least kept the gap from going out.

Agree, definite no.
This was the only good downhill finish. Every other MTF finish has been better than the very boring downhill stages

99% is maybe too much, but I think that yes, he could have been my main pretender as well

Pantani was a doper. Can't compare. It would be WAY more impressive to do it in this era. IMO at least.

mmmh, i didn't see Froome so good for the tour, and he is getting older too, there are no more occasions for him imo

Did you even see Pantani climb, then how can you judge if it was impressive? Sure a doper is a doper but that doesn't separate him from the Sky flock.

Jalaphilippe obviously the heir to Laurent Jalabert. He won that polka dot like Jaja himself used to.

Yes, i have. He was one of my idols back in the day when i started cycling myself.

My point is that it's WAY easier to recover when you cheat. And no, i don't belive that is the case with as you put it, "the Sky flock"
