Stage 14: Saint-Paul-Trois-Châteaux - Mende
One flat stage is all the sprinters get for now. The peloton is headed into the Massif Central, the road turns uphill after the intermediate sprint, and the riders will not only have to deal with the slope, but also rough and twisting roads. The final climb is 3 kilometers at 10%, going as steep as 14% at times. The road flattens for a good kilometer and a half before the finish line on the runway of Mende airport.
Julien Alaphilippe (QuickStep)
Alejandro Valverde (Movistar)
Dan Martin (UAE)
Geraint Thomas (Sky)
There's once again the possibility of a breakaway win. If not, the GC contenders will battle it out with the top puncheurs, although most of the former will just try not to lose any time. Alaphilippe should be the favorite, but he suffered in previous stages. Maybe his team mate Philippe Gilbert tries something again today?
---------------
Hard to tell what kind of a stage this is going to be. There's potential for a lot of action, or the peloton just takes it easy and a breakaway can claim it. Which would be the first breakaway win of this entire race if I'm not mistaken.
As a side note, I might not be able to do a stage thread tomorrow, so anyone else, feel free

I see a break, if not Alaphillipe for the win then I struggle to come up with another one.
If Peloton Thomas, although it's very unlikely that it'll happen

Stage 10 - Alaphilippe the first btw I'm expecting a break too for today

Damn, you're right I had a look at the stage winners, and Alaphilippe just didn't strike me as a rider from a breakaway

How do ASO manage to put not a single interesting mountain stage on the weekend?
