I am not asking for the outcome to be revealed, only if a band is filled with first choices, so that teams coming after don't risk choosing a goal race in which they can not participate.
You yourself said such an FCFS system is not really ideal, letting people know when a band is full would prevent someone being completely screwed by it.
I expect to get my first choice, but it is not totally unlikely half the teams have the same first choice. |

But that would really not be fair to people who already chose their goals and could potentially have missed out on the band where they had a goal.

Then they should be able to change their goal race imo. I think it just should be avoided that someone doesn't participate in a goal race due to the selecting system. |

I could of course be very wrong but I'm quite sure that you'd be able to change any goal that would be associated with a race you are no longer participating in?

Not quite - you can however choose two races of identical cost and then decide which to use as your goal post-transfers. So in this case, choosing a race in your first choice band and then using the "or" option on a race in your second choice band to avoid any potential issues. |

Results are now in.
There was an interesting combination of choices this year:
| Pick 1 | Pick 2 | Pick 3 | Pick 4 | Band 1 | 8 | 17 | 17 | 6 | Band 2 | 16 | 7 | 12 | 12 | Band 3 | 12 | 5 | 7 | 24 | Band 4 | 12 | 19 | 12 | 5 |
No danger of any team missing their first choice, with 8/16/12/12 distribution of top choices across bands.
Band 1 mainly featuring as a 2nd and 3rd choice; Band 2 more consistent and the most popular top choice. Band 3 the most extreme, plenty making it their 1st choice, but then half of all teams placing the band last! Band 4 then the most popular, with 31 teams placing it in their Top 2 choices.
While theoretically it would have been possible for all teams to receive at worst their 3rd choice, this was not possible following the guidelines of "If a choice is over subscribed, then the earliest PMs will get it." Hence, it is the case that some of the later returners do receive their 4th choice, unfortunately.
There are 37 teams with their top two choices, 7 with their first and third choice, and 4 with their first and fourth choice.

For those who did make Band 3 their last choice, it would be helpful if you could PM me to explain why - as feedback to consider when designing the bands for 2019.

YAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAY first two bands

Damn it didn't get my preferred choices. Though don't understand why Band 3 was so resented, as it was even my first pick

First 2 for me as well. Great to have cobbled races, am sure Pluchkin will like them.

Very happy to get my preferred top two choices (bands 1 + 2). Cool that can see will lead to some quite varied start lists with different combos of PT/PCT teams in each. Commiserations if you didn't get your preferred choices this time around.
Obviously a tremendous amount of work has been going on behind the scenes the last few weeks bringing us towards this evening's 8pm starting bell. Thanks to all that have contributed.

Top2 choices for me too. Band 1 was great to have with a Goal there, and Band 2 might allow me to go for a different approach in transfers if my prime targets can't be secured

Got what I came for. Can't be unhappy with that, although it doesn't really matter looking at how many changes I have to make.

So if I didn't get the band of one of my goals then I'm just screwed for that goal right?
oof definitely should have done the flexible goal but oh well |
