So I finally bought it and it is really really nice, 3D racing makes or breaks it for me and it just feels much more realistic during the races, the AI can be much more aggressive too which is a lot more fun, haven't played too much yet and it's definitely not perfect, but I'd still really recommend it as it's a huge step up even from 15 and 16.

The first three flat stage finishes of the Tour in single race mode were weird for me.
The sprinters and their helpers (13-18 riders) always were more than a minute before the peloton at the finish line.
I hope they fix this, Alaphilippe now has a gap of 3,30min to Froome already because he's Gavirias leadout man.
Mountain stages and breakaways in general were good, riders now sprint from about 0,8-1km out for intermediate sprints which is about right. |

Someone who had ride a season in Career mode who can tell about how good the new transfer system is? And that there is now bug into the second season like we sometimes see with a new game? |

I didn't had a bug in the second season, I even used a custom database (the pcmworld database from the steam workshop) which increases the issues of second season bugs.
The transfer system is OK, A LOT less strange transfers, it's more fun to look for new riders yourself, it's not at the standard like Football Manager, but a vast improvement and it gives everything a more realistic feeling. |

Lots of talk about improved contract negotiations and such, but I understand playing in career you still can't add any riders until july.
Why don't Cyanide understand that free riders can be signed much earlier and at any time as in real life.
Starting a career and having many free riders that could have helped your team already in the first season.
This shouldn't be to hard to fix for Cyanide, but then their focus is of course elsewhere or nowhere.
Nothing new on the strict settings of intermediate sprints or ?
Still the Giro can't be setup as in real life.
As I said before France is the World for these guys. That's a bloody shame.
It's about time they changed the name. This is a very limited manager game.

don't know why cyanide remove that. idk about the recent ones,but the older PCM's was possible to sign free riders at the beginning of your carrer |

We got people saying: "same as last year" with a total time played 0.4 hours.

There are so many bugs in both Pro Cyclist and Carrer mode that are gamebreaking
Your rider often stops progressing and is not gaining stats in Pro Cyclist.
The finances in Carrer mode is all messed up you cant use your savings to even sign riders. Sometimes you cant even get promoted from Conti to Pro-Conti even if you have enough points.
I have bought every single Cycling Manager game since 4, sure there has been bugs, but i cant remember them beeing this game breaking.
Also the buisness practice of releasing a buggy mess and letting the customers do the beta testing for you is despicable, they simply get away with it since they own the market of Managerial games involving cycling.
I will not buy a single game at launch anymore, what a utter shit company they have become |

So i will pay 30-40 euros for game with minor improvements since last years edition (terrible one) and trees floating in the tarmac that SHOULD be very good after two patches, that will come after Cyanide two months long holiday. Good one
Btw in general steam reviews are spot on about quality of games, usually good games are "mostly positive" and better, crap is rated as crap.

It's all about what you think is major and minor.
In PCM17 I never got "dragged into" the game because a lot of things bugged me. Breakaways won half of the sprint stages in grand tours, in single day races the peleton was passive, in strade bianche the breakaway would always win, ...
In PCM18, the AI of the peleton is a lot better now, all type of stages (single day hilly, flat tour, mountain ...) are now far more realistic - for me - and give me a far better expierence than I had in the last 4 or 5 years...
so even if the game looks the same, and "AI Improvements" is only one little bullet in "new features"... for me personally it's still a major improvement this edition.
Although if you had hoped that the management part would come anything close to what football manager is offering, than we can speak of a minor improvement, the new transfer system is a lot better than what we had, transfers are more realistic... but for a management game, I can understand that more improvment is expected, certainly seeing how many potential there is left to improve things

+1 If the AI is really important to you then it's a massive improvement and definitely worth it, but if the Managerial part is most important than it's just some minor improvements. Depends on what's important to you.

Progression has a bug but Cyanide knows it. When you change your main type of stile while leveling it can happen that you wont get the skill points.
The game has much more depth iand is clearly a way better than last year. |

I've done a TDF of 5 to test serveral things, but I didn't get involved with my own team (or have them on automatic) and yes the AI is more aggressive, there are larger gaps, but those larger gaps did not result in real time difference in my game. Maybe when the user gets involved and is pulling on 99% there might be even larger gaps that do result in time loss |

In my career, first sprint in santos tour down under, I had between place 9 and 10 a difference of 39sec, so I have to change my opinion here, there's an issue with timegaps...
on the other hand in all the sprint's i've done, I didn't had unrealistic results like you had |

I think this game has several level of improvements or not.
Some talks about how cyclist are doing is clearly stat-related. That's easy to remedy
Graphic issues on stages. Is just poor handling and not enough details like some stage-creators do thrive in. Those stages can be enhanced if we got the zcts-files
However Cyanide should make newer better stages on some of the middle quality instead of loading it with cdx-files and very old parcours with auto-cities still on.
How the AI perform in sprints/mountains/classics is more Cyanide programming.
Pro-cycling stuff. Pure arcade shit. Buy a real bike and get out on the road, if not too old.
Manager part. Now that is in the name of the game. So this must be improved on many issues.
How to be able to edit/fix/enhance stuff is in many cases based on how the create their DB prorgramming. Sadly very poorly. Restriction on equipment, teams, race-rules is poor 90's programming.
Editor . No words. It works.
IBs. Can always be found great extra ones and easy to put into the game.
Then of course my every year problem. FIX the intermediate sprints and make the XML more programmable. Issue Giro Italia and that race different sprintpoints depending on stage hardness.
All races don't even have youth, and some separate sprints from finish points.
Things that so many doesn't give a shit about, but why not fix an easy thing.
I'm sure I forgot some parts of the game needing fixed or working great.
So it's very hard to give an overall judgement since everyone have their own part to cry about. But it's fun to hear different areas that has been talked about and finally it will be good to summarize.
