ASO apparently decided to block Chris Froome from starting the Tour de France.

Team Sky appealed to CNOSF and a decision is expected on Tuesday.

No matter what, Froome won`t have many friends in France.

Do you have a link? Shock

Bet even if Froome is blocked Sky still fields a podium finisher. Pfft

Did you just started the news thread with actual news? Shock

Thomas will probably win it now, but I hope Bernal pulls a Froome on him.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Is this what Thomas was alluding to the other day when he said sky have 2 leaders at the tour .

Thomas will never win a GT imo. Not good enough for 3 weeks of big mountains imo.

Bernal would be the better bet but I think without Froome, it`s Movistar`s time or potentially Bardet.

Also wouldn't sleep on Uran. He should be fresh and seems to be in good shape.

Anyway, it should be a great tour without Sky dominating everything

Excellent news and LE Monde are usually accurate.

Hopefully Sky won´t win the appeal and who can blame the ASO after Froomes doping and the insane “ride” during Giro.

But to be honest a bit surprised but it shows Froome don´t have any friends in France at all

Okey, I am glad to see this - ASO trying. But I do not think they will be successful. Who is superior? ASO or UCI? Which rules are superior? It is bullshit since according to rules Froome is allowed to race. Unfortunately, this is what ultimately matters. Unwritten rules such as “Ok its not polite to race, or I may be destroying image of cycling” obviously does not count there. This stupid mess is caused by UCI rules and as they are written. They should be totaly re-evaluated in order this will not happen again.

I dont like Froome and whole f*cking SKY team. But they can race without problem. They are just misusing “gaps” in the rules. And that we have shitty rules its the UCI problem. I am sometimes asking if UCI is really credible and wants a clean cycling.

And then the most important question why the hell the whole process has not been solved yet? From september its fu*king 9 months.
Everybody has a plan until they get punched in the mouth.

Well there is the Tom Boonen cocaine case. ASO didn't want him in, Boonen want to court and got the right to start because he did nothing wrong. The only difference between Boonen's and Froome's case is that Boonen's investigation was completet while Froome's is ongoing.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

ASO is not quoting some arbitrary rule, they have a clear rule §28 that states they reserve the right to deny any rider or team who will harm the race or cycling reputation start in any of their races"

So the question for the judges and later CAS is "is a potential doping-ban" enough to exclude a rider on the basis of §28. Or is it ok for cycling to have a rider potentially have 2 GT wins with a star mentioning "The wins could be taken away because of a doping ban?"

The interesting tidbit here though is how can Sky even allow Froome to race , considering they are the same team that after Armstrong, made their riders and staff sign the Anti-doping agreement and the clause than any rider suspected would be banned.

As Sky themselves say ""We want a team in which riders are free of the risks of doping and in which fans - new and old - can believe without any doubt or hesitation."

Can´t exactly say that any cycling fan believes Sky is free from doping after Wiggins, Froome and all the others who have been accused or faced with Doping charges.

UCI is simply an ASO puppet - the UCI president was put by the ASO and he in return gives them privileges. Basicly ASO owns pro-cycling now and quite frankly I'm all in for a breakaway series from some teams and races not wanting to be shackled to the ASO/UCI machne where revenue would be distributed fairly.

And mark my words - in 5-10 years from now the UCI World Tour will have teams maily owned by the Arabs or Chineese.

Here's an interesting theory - if Froome is barred from competing, will Sky boycott the Tour as an act of protest?
