Immensely active! I used to wake up to 1000 msgs during transfer season last time being in earlier timezone.

I don't know how it is looking on Skype, but you can do like 15 subforums/chats for every single topics in Man-Game or 150 if you want. And it won't be that hard. Heck, you can create every subforum for every team to not have 1000 messages to read every single day. If you need to talk to a manager, you will talk in his team subforum. |

In those cases you can use the code block/markdown option. Like this:
Username and posttime follows automatically when you right click and copy a post.

I say this from experience, this spreads and reduces activity, it really discourages discussion, in Skype you see most things that are said and can comment on anything, on Discord you have to actively check each section of the discussion.
@Sykkel - Didn't know that was possible, will try it out, thanks!

If only there was a website that could do all of that instead...
It is important for both the MG and more, the site in general, that as much of the MG chat is on this website as possible.

I use this feature on Skype all the time and get so frustrated not being able to use it on Discord, often I give up on the conversation because it’s so hard to reply to an old post.
Agreed. I've used Discord extensively now and Skype still does this better. For a text only chat with dozens of people messaging at different times of day, Skype is just the better option.
And like SN said, constructive, topic based conversation is meant to happen on this forum. Our forum is it's own platform, and that's how MG activity succeeds in the long run. The Skype group is mostly used for MG banter that doesn't really have a place anywhere on the site.

Post stolen from "Thanos of the group" the_hoyle
Calling all new MG managers (and the currently ones as well). The 2019 season is slowly appearing on the horizon, so we will welcome any one who wants to join the MG Skype group.
Filled with daily MG chat, help and general banter, it is a nice add-on to the forum for all things MG.
If you want to be part of the group, just drop the_hoyle a PM with your skype name, he will add you to his contacts and then to the group.
Please be aware that the group will not be a replacement for posting in the discussion threads on here. The chat group will NOT contribute to activity levels if questions are raised at any point in the season.
Roturn, SN and other MG big dogs and site admins are part of the group, so remember to behave as well.

Honestly this has to change to a discord thing like others have said. Skype is just too far behind.

I'm still against a switch to Discord. I agree Discord is better for a lot of things. But we are a text only group that needs the ability to quote precisely and doesn't want any activity to be diverted from the forum. Discord does not fit that niche like Skype does, and we're already set up on there.

We've had this discussion a number of times and not gotten anywhere, and we probably won't get anywhere this time either, but I'll put in my two cents one last time anyway
"Discord is a forum killer"
I really don't see how Discord would be any more of a forum killer than Skype is. Yes, Discord have more options for customization which allows multiple channels/chats, etc. However, it shouldn't be a problem to set up the server in a way that doesn't divert material that belongs on the website away from website.
Quoting
I do believe the argument that we need to be able to quote people is highly overstated, and I also believe that people will be able to adapt to not having this feature quite quickly. However, Discord does offer some alternative solutions that are fairly quick and easy to use. For things that was said recently in the chat, mentions does the job. For things that were said earlier, a screenshot can be taken and uploaded (which is really quick in Discord), or for a more Skype-like quote-look, code blocks can be used. Like this:
Now let me try to explain what Discord does better.
Easier access
Discord does not require that you register an account, and can be accessed from a browser, meaning it will be a easier for everyone to access the chat.
Interchangeable nicknames
Discord has the option of using different nicknames on different servers. On Skype, I don't know who half the people I'm talking with is, as their nickname doesn't match up with their forum name. This will never be an issue on Discord. Additionaly, it saves the trouble of having to switch between accounts if you're also using Skype for work-related or personal use, like I (and probably many others do).
More customization possibilities
As mentioned earlier, Discord allows you to have multiple channels (chats) within a server, and allows you to set up different roles for different channels as well. For instance, you would be able to set up a 'PCM18 Tester' role and a private channel for them to discuss the results of their PCM18 testing.
Better performance
Discord does a better job at conserving bandwidth and takes up fewer resources when being used, meaning the bar for having it running in the background if you're running heavy programs or have limited internet is much lower than Skype.
Cleaner and more user friendly interface
I find that the Skype search function in chat is very limited compared to Discord, both in terms of features and how far back it goes. The chat is also cleaner. Messages doesn't take as much space, and thus you'll be able to see more messages without having to scroll. Support for images and such is also better.
Skype is good for personal calls and business etc, but for our use, Discord simply is much better. The only argument that in my opinion supports Skype, is that we're already established on there and switching would be a slight hassle.

I will 100% join a Discord server for this. But definately not a Skype group. I respect the decision if made of keeping up with Skype but at this time I have a lot of things going on discord but nobody that still uses skype, so I dont even have it installed xd

Oh well it's your decisions, but I prefer having all my online interactions in one place and that is Discord. I wouldn't want to install an app, just to communicate with one chat

I don't really know Discord well enough to discuss pros and cons, but honestly it sounds like a better option to me.
Skype id a hazzle with logging in/out from personal/daily use and takes a lot from the device, which is why I'm not very active there as well and hardly logs in outside transfer season.

I don't want to download Skype just for this which is why I haven't joined so far, but as I already have Discord and use it daily it would be a lot more convenient for me to join a Discord server if we do switch.

Here's a Strawpoll:
https://strawpoll.com/8sdsdcdz
Skype vs Discord (plus a forum only option for those that don't want either). Vote for your choice and we'll see if it becomes worth changing.
Note the current Skype group is 46 strong, so less than 46 votes for Discord to me means sticking with Skype

I don't really think that makes sense. There's a big difference between having once registered and actually using it.
I agree that the size of the current group should be a factor in a close vote, but if it ends up say 30-10 in favor of Discord a shift should definitely happen imo.

Also it means that if someone registered and is in the skype group but would prefer Discord and votes Discord then it doesn't matter because they already registered for the skype group.
Also how many of the 46 in the skype group are managers that are not in the game anymore and not active in it?
