Hi,
I'm Reading every line writen in this thread and I'm freaking out. Maybe I'm wrong but after all my conclusión is: have you ever ridden a bike?
If you usually ride a bike you can not put up or down so easily the stats. Thomas is not a great climber today and in a month one more in the bunch (in this category), Aru is not worst climber tan De Gendt or Yates but he had not the best day, ill, a nightmare the night before or he's training planning was a fake, etc, etc.
I think the criterio to move the stats must be anual not eery week. It's crazy and nosense. Typical from people don't practise sport. Like people talking about footbal like football stars.
What I want to say is cycling is one of the hardest sport u can practise and u and ur stats ridiculize the efforts, difficulties and many hándicaps can influence every day they race. So please stop saying bu_____ts all of you and take the bike.
Regards

In a game like PCM, you have to consider a riders performance/results and not his potential performance/results, when you make stats. Or else it would just be arbitrary guessing. However, all results from the past years are considered, of course weighing later results heavier. We wouldn't know if Aru had a nightmare, or whatever caused his bad result in the giro, but even if, he may have tendencies to bad nightmares and it will affect his performances ultimately. |

People want personalized and realistic stats therefor they discuss it weekly. I find the game fun when i can play it after real time performances and when i don't have to think back to July 2017. My only issue is that there is no 2018 db out and most time being used on stat building which becomes outdated after a month.
Don't think you need to come on here lecturing people about cycling i think the majority of users here is well aware of the sport in more aspects than you can think of.

Perfect way to start off your message by the way, if you read every written line in this thread i think you should find a hobby. Go cycling for example.

Anyone with an insight in junior cycling, who could come up with some stats for Remco Evenepoel? And perhaps the limit stats too? |

As said before stats are not done just on each performance good or bad by a rider but by a combination of different factors.
1. If a rider for example with 68 mtn finishes in one stage with a number of riders who have say between 73 and 74 mtn stats and he wasn't in the break, it clearly indicates that he needs a stat upgrade in mtn to make him more competitive. He may even get the race in his fav races to get him more chance of say a higher race condition. he would usually get a stat just below the above initially.
2. Most riders are compared to how they have done over the last year or so. and its much easier to indicate which riders have improved or kept the same level but not so easy to indicate which riders have gone down and this usually needs a separate revision on its own.
3. The best stat tool is actually collective knowledge of the type of rider we are dealing with when we stat him. is he a punchy rider= higher acc, power rider= higher res. Point being that often instead of raising main stats for a rider we will look at these important secondary stats first.
4. Let's take Thomas as an example. This is clearly a power rider that over the last few years has gone from a classics rider to a week stage rider/super dom/GT contender and at the moment could either be a 78 mtn with higher backup stats or a 79 mtn with the backup stats that he already has BUT his final stats will not be decided until after the Tour, but on the stats sheet anybody will be able to see his stats going up and down until final decision.
5. When stats are done on a daily basis, a level of subjectivity comes in to how we think a certain rider should be statted as.
6 Over the last few years the change by the developers with the hill stat has also not helped statting the game either.
7. Remember there are well over 3000 riders, a lot for a few people to stat really well at times.
8. Finally now that there is an access to the stats DB people can see the workings of the stats which imo is a negative because they are sometimes not the stats that will be in the final DB when it gets released and people will see stats go up and down on this working sheet

Some of the riders mentioned by others.
Bak has been adjusted and agree that his FS should be less and had actually been kept higher due to being in breaks at cobble cclassics but to be fair hasn't really done that so much recently, now will hopefully attack less and be a more flat dom.
Also Meurisse, Ballerini and Merlier are being looked at well and

What valaorome say is kind of hard, but to the point in overall thought. I have to sometime laughed that folks getting upset on riders getting a single point up or down in stats. One can never know for sure what really made his performance differ from previous races. Just as this game covers form and such which do effect the game as in real life.
I have previously said that the big issue like Tafiolmo mentioned is several performances that shows something has happend to the rider generally. That needs to be taken care off. Bigger stat moves are more important since they show a rider has been judged to perhaps perform better or worse in some faces of the game
My biggest concern is the lesser known and new riders that is very hard to fix but leaves little and sometimes no interrest in this thread. I have several times compared riders from minor teams how they perform towards real life. It can be very frustrating to see if climbers in game is actually used as sprinters IRL. I know it's hard to cover these teams but surely it's many times the riders of the future we find in these teams, so digging deep for info how these minor races and minor teams are doing and how they use their riders are IMHO just as big to having Froome up or down a point in any stats.
The game have many stats but still IMHO lack to have the deeper stats that might be all important. That is why you hardly ever see the life like real sprinter trains in the finishes. Why not have a Intelligent stat that grow for each year a rider race and what type of races he is in. Part of development. A road captain is important. Extra stat for how good you might be as lead-out. Several parameters that could have help an AI make better decisions in-game.
And yes "valaorome" I have ridden a bike in competition, several times for a fact, but that was long long time ago. But judging the skills of a rider is very hard and then transform that into the game formula is a huge effort. Beside the point of personal thoughts on what rider is better than the other.
Even the combo of certain stats that I guess are important aren't easy to handle. My case with Lars Bak for one. Yes he did some breakaways on cobbles but are used mostly as a peloton engine and in Greipel train. Getting the AI to handle that isn't the easiest. Playing the game I wish more options as a manager should have been available. Sprint-trains, telling just 1-2 rider to head the peloton, keeping a look out for some riders and such. A little more Football Manager options perhaps.
I know you can do this "hands-on" but I imagine the game to be played as the DS in the car behind. I've done my time in the peloton, now I like to scream out orders which sometimes my boys doesn't care for. Just as back in the days, he-he
It's called Pro Cycling MANAGER after all and that extra Be a Pro Cyclist is more on the arcade stuff.

Sorry for the delay but we have him currently below. I'm sure he's better than this but I think these are sensible stats for now.
Flat 71
Mttn 72
Hill 75
Acc 77
Res 72

What about Tadej Pogacar stats now after Tour of Slovenia? He finished 4th overall ahead of Majka, was in the main group on every climb and produced the 2nd best TT between all the GC riders, trailling only Roglic.
More Mtn, TT, Res, Rec? |

Matteo Moschetti perhaps should be in the DB.
Signed up for Trek 2019-20 and have delivered some fine results in minor races this year and he was a stagiare in Trek 2017. Riding in Colorado Classic for one.
Think he is pretty good or upcoming sprinter ability.
Road for Italy in U23 Worlds and Europeans last year and all the other Italians in that team is in the DB, so perhaps he should be too.

Rob Stannard has some nice stats in the DB (he's such a cool talent) which I tend to agree with, but (although it isn't like the senior event) he needs a COB upgrade from 60 after his third in the RVV U23. Just to 63-64. Also maybe some REC upped seeing as he won the ITT on day nine of the Baby Giro and got 8th, 2nd, 6th, 5th, 1st and 13th in the back half of the race (also recently won a U23 Bretagne stage on day 7) Even FTR as he was in some escapes it seems to boost his GC (only in the 40s on the Cat.1 summit finish). However then again he was top 10 on the multi-mountain summit finish.

Clamel and Jandal your recent suggestions will be considered as we do the stats.
From now on all stats discussion should be made on the new 2018 stats discussion.

I now know what the problem is, the creators of the pack are to blame.
look at the folders with the jerseys then you know what's going on. with me now.
