Rider Details

• Name: Guilherme 'Gui' Barbosa
• Nationality: Brazilian
• Specialization: Puncheur
• Favourite Team: Wilier Triestina - Selle Italia
• Career Goal: Become the 'Pele' of short, hilly tours and one-day classics - Tour of Turkey, Liege-Bastogne-Liege, La Fleche Wallone, etc.
• Height: 176 cm
• Weight: 66 kg

Background

Born in Sao Paolo, Brazil on 22 September 1998, in a little shack in the Heliópolis favela, Guilherme Barbosa was always going to be different. 'Gui,' as he became known, was the firstborn son of Roberto, a former amateur boxing champion, and Susanna, a powerhouse of a cleaning lady. He stood out from an early age athletically, excelling on the football pitch despite carrying some extra pounds. Known as the chubby kid early on in school, he lost his baby fat as he was hitting puberty and started to use his powerful legs to fly past his contemporaries on the pitch. He was never a skilful player, but he stood out, nevertheless.

One winter during the offseason, star Brazilian cyclist Rafael Andriato came back to Sao Paulo, where he was born, to establish a training camp to build the popularity of cycling in Brazil. Serendipitously, Andriato walked by the 'pitch', an open concrete plaza, where Gui was playing football with his mates, and saw the youngster's power catching up to a wayward pass. He encouraged Gui to join him for a ride the following day at the training camp, and the rest, as they say, is history...

Gui became the star prodigy of Andriato's programme, and was given his first bike by the Wilier-Triestina sprinter. He also earned a scholarship to the Brazilian cycling development programme, enabling him to earn a living while attending school, and helping his parents to move out of the favela. His Sagan-esque raw talent allowed him to excel in the short, hilly races around Sao Paulo and the surrounding area, despite the lack of formal training or racing experience. The races were just easy for him. He was later signed to the Funvic/Soul Brasil Pro Cycling development team, and has been cycling across South America in youth races, though he realises that to make a very good living, he'll have to move to Europe and race against the big boys. He's now ready to take his talents abroad, and hopes he'll get his chance with his cycling idol's team, Wilier-Triestina - Selle Italia. Whether his skills are up to par remain to be seen, but his meteoric rise will surely be one to watch.

Thanks jandal, thought this could use a little samba flavour Banana

Liking your “clean” Italian stallion storyline as well Wink

Hope Rocco and Flosi don’t end up hurting each other at training camp.

Thank you to everyone for swift responses to the contract offers.

I'm waiting for nacho to confirm his team. Will start off with the rider customization some time this weekend. If needed, I can put up the calendar (without actual stages) before that.

Sign-ups are still open!

@Tamijo: Thanks for the offer Smile Things are smooth at the moment but will let you know in case I need any help.

I'll put up the calendar tomorrow. Those hoping for lots of mountains need only to look at the real WT calendar for clues Wink

No lower tier cobbled classica? Think I made a mistake in rider selection.

Schaal Sells is cobbled in PCM and Le Triptique has a decisive cobbled stage and a lightly cobbled flat stage iirc too.

Definitely a GT for Alunderis, maybe even two. Has to fulfil his career goals and collect those mountain jerseys before he gets too good. Smile

Career Progression
Link: https://www.dropb....xlsx?dl=0

- Download the file from the above location.
- Enter your Rider's ID in cell C3 of the 'Progression' sheet. The cells originally marked #N/A will populate. You can look up rider IDs in the 'Custom Riders DB' sheet.
- Cell F9 shows how many statpoints you can further allocate to your rider.
- F4-R4 shows your rider's current stats. F5-R5 shows the max stats your rider can achieve in each category.
- Enter the increase in statpoints (not actual stats) that you want against each stat in F6-R6.
- F7-R7 will show the increased stats. If any cell in F7-R7 turns red, it means that you have entered a value which increases the stat to above the permissible limit and needs to be reduced.
- No stat can be increased by more than 3 points in a year. The sheet will not allow you to do so and will throw an error message. This will not be relevant this time but will become important in the future.
- If you are satisfied, copy cells F6-R6 and send it to me in a table via PM.
- Please do not make any other changes to the file.

In case of any questions, please ask here or PM me. There is no deadline for this at the moment.

Sign-ups remain open!
