So aside from the cheeky sunglasses incident, what's the deal with Terpstra hate? He's not the most likeable but I don't mind him, may just be forgetting something
24/02/21 - kandesbunzler said “I don't drink famous people."
15/08/22 - SotD said "Your [jandal's] humour is overrated"
11/06/24 - knockout said "Winning is fine I guess. Truth be told this felt completely unimportant."

Tried to punch a guard after E3, allegedly spat on Kragh Andersen in Gent Wevelgem last year, the whole Manzana Postobon airport bomb "joke", complaining about EBH attacking behind MC in Omloop when he clearly did the same multiple times. These are some of the reasons he's not high on my list |

What a race! It wasn't as attacked as last year but it was great.
i believe QS will win both Flandres and Roubaix
One down I'm not surprised at all, QS played perfectly and as a group, and this win is almost an exact replica of E3, I'm not very fond of Terpstra but they deserved this win.
Sep and Oli are prone to bad luck.
What to say about Naesen, when I saw him crash I thought he'll abandon, then he got up and tried to get on the bike I thought eh race over anyway, then I thought that even if miraculously he'd reach the front he'd crack cause of the effort, and for the whole race I was thinking of his limitations but he held himself all the way and finished in the front group, amazing! (and flashbacks of the broken nose, swollen knee and crash at GW)
I didn't get to watch Sep's mishaps but it's (once again) remarcable to watch him in his "one day I'll get there" journey
QS will play with their numbers but several outsiders will be ignored and may surprise QS bigtime.
Mad Mads with an incredible run, never would I expect such a result from him and he's certainly on my watchlist for Roubaix. But I did mention an "absolute outsider" would be there.

It can sounds loud but Mads is the closest relative to Cancellara in the peloton

Attacked Wynants mid race in Eneco Tour as well.
Wasn't the best edition, but Mads Pedersen had a great ride.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Feel sorry for Sagan, he is such a strong and talented rider yet he can't deliver due to these sharks hanging on his wheel every single time.
I think he misses those Cancellara's days.
Now, looking forward for PR. Hope we will have a nice race there as well. |

Sagan fans always complaining about the same thing. This is a race and Sagan isn't the only rider in the race nor was he particurarly noteworthy really. He wasn't strong enough to make it against Quick Step. Neither where GVA nor Vanmarcke or someone else to break the Quick Step fortress.

It didn't really seem like any of the big guns REALLY had it to make the difference, not even Terpstra, but he had the right timing, and enough to finish it, but it's not like the years when Boonen, Cancellara or Sagan was able to take out every competition on their own. They all seemed tired on the climbs, I mean, I don't think I've ever seen Sagan standing on the steep cobbles like that, nor have I ever seen hes shoulders so clutched up to his ears out of tiredness. It was a nice race though, but would have been even better, if the favorites had the strength to make the cut 70 km out or something, on the Muur maby. But hey, two Danes in top 5, my heart was in my throat |

According to trek, he retired mid race in order to prepare for Paris-Roubaix where he’ll most likely win with over 5 minutes advance. |

That sounds good
Spoiler Real reason is his generous stomach was sick all night and he obviously wasn't feeling good

Underwhelming edition tbh. Nicki Testosterone winning is not my cup of tea either, but perfect display from QST. He went full gas on his attack and never gave up, while Phil and Stybs countered every single move against him.
Sagan, GVA and co don't have a chance when they let go Niki and then don't build an alliance against QST.

Well, that's what I'm saying, he is not the only one who can win on every single scenario. Some riders like Sep Vanmarcke, GVA, Benoot or whomever had the legs should have worked with Sagan on chasing Terpstra.
I think this idea of 'we should not be working with Sagan as he will beat us on sprint' is quite wrong. Maybe they will learn something for the PR this weekend otherwise EQS will get the win again. |

Others were working big time, so I do not know what are you referring to. For example, GVA and Benoot chased before Sagan on the way to Kwaremont. And there are many more examples. And they chased hard after they caught Sagan. So,, others were chasing amd working with and without him. Period.
I think this whole narrative of riders only racing against Sagan is quite annoying and frankly insulting to other riders, and it is further perpuated by Sagan himself, who has been complaining again after De Ronde. Its his new trademark. https://www.cyclin...-will-win/

The Sagan hype must die down a bit. He's not in 2016 form. It was painfully obvious on the Paterberg, yeah he attacked and created a gap, but then quickly starting losing time to Terpstra, who was already solo-ing for 10km+ at that time.
Point taken: Sagan was weaker than Terpstra.
Point to Sagan fanboys: He was not the strongest in the race, clearly. It's nice that he is very explosive, but if you cannot hold a gap or gain time back on the flat then you are not strong enough. Period. |

I agree Sagan should stfu, as a 3x world champion and former winner of the race, he should take initiative instead of just countering the others. If you rewatch the chase on Terpstra, there are others who did far more work then Sagan.
I think Benoot might have been equal to Terpstra, but he lacked acceleration to get away. Pedersen very strong as well, makes you wonder what would have happened if he didn't ride alone for so long.
Van Aert confirmed again, but he has to attack at some point. I think he's just so surprised he's still there, he doesn't dare to make a move.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Cycling fans some years ago: Sagan should keep his cool and attack less
Cycling fans now: Sagan should be more aggressive
