GUNMAN AND HAIG WITH OUR SECOND AND THIRD GT STAGE-WINS
With two of the Grand Tours done this year, we can be proud of what our riders have achieved so far. Our season hasn't been a big success in 2017, with particularly Jack Bobridge and Luke Durbridge struggling to show anything according to our expectations. Also Lachlan Morton started his season with a real bummer, crashing out of any GC ambitiouns at the Tirreno - Adriatico (eventually finishing 15th in the GC). Morton, however, bounced back in style and secured himself a podium (3rd) at the Giro d'Italia: our first GT podium with Domenico Pozzovivo previously being our best GT performer with two 10th places in 2015 (Giro and Vuelta).

With this big success at the Giro (adding a TTT stage-win and the U25 victory for Morton, who also had eight stage Top-5 results), we entered the most recently finished Vuelta a Espana with some confidence. Jack Haig as our GC rider with ambitiouns to fight for a Top-20 result. After a rather disappointing TTT and a few breakaway attempts in the first week, Taylor Gunman would have his biggest day at the beginning of week two: after coming 5th in S7 from an early break, our loanee (from Garmin) would try again in S8. With some better luck this time: a smart ride with some patience to wait for his sprint, Gunman eventually outsprinted his breakaway companions to take our first individual stage-win in 2017. Our second GT stage-win in our history.
Jack Haig - winning stage twenty at the Vuelta
He would not repeat this succesfull move at any further point, as our riders failed to be of any significance in the tougher second and third week's breakaway attempts. Jack Haig though would put up an impressive performance in his first GT as our leader. The talented stage racer was always on a promising way to finish somewhere in the lower Top-20, but went on to go higher in the GC later on.
His strong showing in the ITT (S17) - finishing 5th on the stage - would make Haig moving up to 15th in the GC. He showed some aggressive racing in the further, tough mountain stages then: his breakaway attempt in S18 looked promising, but he got caught from the big GC players to finish just outside the Top-10 on the stage - still improving to 14th in the GC for a day. After dropping a place on the next mountain stage, Haig would then launch his big winning move early into S20. He appeared to be the strongest in the break of the day, entering the final downhill sector with just Brambilla at his side. He would go and outsprint his opponent on the final few hundred metres and take a big stage-win to also move up to 13th in the GC (and 3rd in the U25 competition). A classy move and Jayco's third GT stage-win in our third year in the ProTour. Surely the biggest win of those three, Haig would finish the Vuelta in probably the best possible GC position.

Things got really worse in June, with our team totally suffering from bad luck and/or bad daily form: Lachlan Morton crashed out on any GC aspirations at the Tour de Suisse (where Ben Dyball was our best finisher as 31st) and Jack Haig (we don't know, why) fell from 4th in the GC (and 1st in the U25 ranking) to 33rd (and 10th) in the two final days of the Criterium du Dauphine Libere. This month was definitely a big disaster for Jayco and a downfall in the PT rankings didn't come as a big surprise. Can it become even worse from now on? We will see.
Jack Haig definitely has to bounce back quickly, as he's our leader for the Tour de France. Given his latest performance, we shouldn't expect too much, but of course we still remember his Vuelta a Espana show. It's all about points now and if he's somehow recovering well from his most recent disaster in France, we're still hoping to at least get something out of this big race now. The TT kilometres should definitely help him... well.. let's just move on.
The remaining squad is mainly built for breakaway attempts/success: Gunman to repeat his Vuelta performance? Well, please! Feng, Haas and maybe Van den Haar as our other promising riders for breakaway attempts, while Porte might have a shot at a notable result in the hilly timetrial.. Smith and Lowe as our mountain support. Just like Haig, Lowe totally disappoeared in the final two days at the Dauphine though - a real bummer, as he's been doing quite well as 18th in the GC after S6..
 Praha - Karlovy Vary - Praha | PT | 4 Stages
Another possible race for some frustration? Well, yes: Luke Durbridge as our leader here and it's no news, that we can't be happy with his results in the 2017 campaign so far. This would obviously a great race to finally deliver in a timetrial this year. He won't be amongst the GC top favorites, but anything but a result, that is somehow according to his skillset, would be another big bummer these days.
Hepburn, Olman (who should suffer in the road stages), O'Shea, Oram and Wohler as the remaining pure TT horses. Particularly Hepburn gives us some hope for another notable GC result - obviously, he would need a good shape on the key days. Jack Bobridge is also back in action and while the race might not suit him to 100%, he's definitely capable of pulling a notable result in a timetrials. The flat stages ain't too easy, so maybe he can play his strong acceleration in a way as well.
Pieter Vanspeybrouck as an experiment only. He will be racing either in a free role for breakaway attempts (after some heavy losses in the TT days) or a support role, if we somehow manage to slip into a role to lead the bunch at some point.

Surely it has to happen soon enough. Tough luck in June for Jayco, hopefully a bit better this month (well, can't be much worse, can it?).

I definitely couldn't have imagine any worse than this  And I'd never even think of the possibility for Haig to drop from 4 to 33 in two days.. Thanks for the positive words. I fear they only raise some false hopes though, that can only be destroyed by Durbridge

NEWS | JAYCO WILL END SPONSORSHIP AFTER THE SEASON
It's been some frustrating times for Jayco - Cobra9 in the past few weeks and while the bad news keep coming with more crashes and another quiet GC performance for Jack Haig at the Tour de France (currently sitting on 16th place in the third week), it may not come as a big surprise, that a change of sponsorship for the 2018 season has been leaked today.
"We didn't want to announce any news on this yet, but unfortunately, the end of Jayco's sponsorship has been made public today. It's certainly not the best moment for news like this, but there's nothing we can do about it now", said team manager TS Moha in a quickly held press conference just a few minutes ago. Jayco has been a sponsor for the team since 2012, taking over the main sponsorship in 2016 and 2017. With the confirmation of Jayco to quit funding the team, it's clear that the management has to find a new main sponsor and name for the 2018 campaign.
"We would like to thank Jayco for some outstanding support over the past few years. It has been a great ride into the ProTour and even though this year doesn't go as we had hoped for, we definitely made our stamp in the best division of cycling"

Given the latest results for Jayco - Cobra9, another drop in the ProTour rankings have to be expected. The management is still confident to avoid any relegation drama, but it's certainly not the easiest moment to find a new name giving sponsor for next year: "We're well prepared (though) and while it may appear as a dramatic step from Jayco, we (the management) were well aware of the possible end of sponsorhip. The current sporting situation obviously ain't easy for us, but we're confident to find a perfect partner for our next season, that will hopefully see us entering our fourth year in the ProTour!"

Big change there then. Hope it all remains the Aussie project no matter the sponsor. 
Haig in 16th isn`t that bad normally I think. But he is rather anonymous and might change with the stages to come.
I might be wrong, but I think Haig is still one of your positive riders of the season? At least I basically read his name everywhere. More than e.g. Bobridge. |

@roturn/Croatia: Yeah.. things will be interesting. May I go to full-retard mode and drop my Aussies?  I guess next month will already reveal some stuff regarding a possible new main sponsor!
@roturn: Haig, yes.. His current TdF is terrible though. 17th in GC now and a few crashes as well. Of course I couldn't expect another Vuelta performance, but he once again dropped several places due to crashes, splits on flat stages and general lack of strength.. Not sure, if he's really a big positive this season  His Vuelta got great, when he rode to a stage-win and some general aggressive racing. Dauphine was a horror show though (still sure, that he must have crashed when dropping from 4 to 33 in two days) and Liechtenstein (18th) was solid. You read his name everwhere, because he's my favorite rider Bobridge however definitely disappointed so far (imo) and also Morton had two horrible stage races - with the Giro (startlist) as the only positive exception. Durbridge... well.. A frustrating season overall. I need someone like Yates, I guess

NEWS | DID DURBRIDGE AND JAYCO AGREE TO GO PART WAYS IN 2018?
After the news of Jayco ending it's sponsorships for our team next season, the bad news kept going with another low key performance from all of our timetrial specialists in the recently finishes Praha - Karlovy Vary - Praha stage race. A promising start from Durbridge (as 3rd in the prologue) was followed by two anonymous road stages and a disastrous 60km ITT outing on the third day: Durbridge failed like he already did in the Tour of Qatar and Chrono des Herbiers, finishing 16th on the stage to end up 13th in the final GC eventually. None of our other TT riders came close to a Top-20 result.
So it's still some rough times for the squad and it won't be easier to find a new main sponsor with a constant run of bad results. As if this wouldn't be enough, rumours appeared, that Luke Durbridge and Jayco's manager TS Moha got into an argument after the disastrous timetrial yesterday. We don't want to comment any rumours about the chat they had, but it's a fact, that Durbridge headed home on his own today - instead of joining the team and staff on their way back to our European quarter.
So what happened? It's no news, that particularly TS Moha hasn't been satisfied with the results from Luke Durbridge since he came back from two years as loanee to Red Bull and Wikipedia back in 2013 and 2014. No single stage or race win in his now fourth season with the team, two disastrous Chrono des Herbiers outings in the last two editions, no success in Qatar and an 8th place at Praha - Karlovy Vara - Praha as his best stage race result back in 2015:

In a quick press release earlier today, TS Moha stated, that he can confirm, that he and Durbridge talked about 2018 in a "confidential talk" right after the timetrial: "It's an agreement between gentlemen, but we won't comment any rumours as long as the future of the team remains uncertain - both for sponsorship and of course the to be expected slipping-off in the ProTour rankings!" He denied a rumour, that he promised to release Durbridge for free, if our main TT specialist would fail in P-KV-P though: "It's been some tough weeks most recently, but there's no need to be asking for trouble between two grown men. I did not threaten Durbo to release him, that's simply a lie. We just talked about our future plans - whether they fit into each other's plans or not. That's all".

Hmm, will be watching this closely obviously. Durbridge certainly is a weird case. When you're so far off so many times it can't only be a random form problem, but then again the 3rd place in the prologue shows that he is well capable of fighting for the top spots. Will be interesting to see what happens...

Lot of bad luck for your team recently, and Durbridge has been clearly on the bad end this season. I thought that his bad run could be over with his great prologue in P-KV-P, but then again a bad day in the long one.
It would be a shame that such a long history between both rider and team ends with this terrible season, with you owning him since your first season, but if he's really transferable next season, i see lots of teams trying to sign him. Even myself might make a try

I guess it is a matter of "what to expect" really.
In the 2016 individual rankings he was the best pure TT'er in the bunch. Obviously beaten by Phinney, Coppel and Ignatiev who all have other traits, but from 80+ TTers:

83 Panagiotis Vlatos 357
86 Emilien Viennet 339
89 Jasha Sütterlin 335
106 Marlen Zmorka 288
141 Jesse Sergent 217

Yeah, I know. I'm pretty sure you already showed me this or a similar list at some point last season
Still. I don't care much about such rankings, when I'm constantly pissed off by his 16th or 18th places in Herbiers or now in another 60km ITT. Last season, he had a few good stage results, yes. Didn't really do well in his key events though. Ofc someone like Hepburn didn't help to brighten my mood - with his 50th place. Obviously, I'm not too happy with my team right now and Durbridge is yet another rider, who got to feel my anger 
After all though, it's just rumours! Or fake news

NEWS | COBRA9 AND THE TEAM WILL PART WAYS IN 2018
After the recently announcement of Jayco to end it's long lasting sponsorship for the team in 2018, also the current co-sponsor Cobra9 will stop funding the team for the upcoming season. The initial plan to support the team for two years has been opted out, following on Jayco's decision to not extend the contract for another time. At this point, it's clear that the team will be run under a completely new name in 2018 - but both the sportive and the financial future remain uncertain yet.
"Cobra9 decided to take the option of stepping out of the 2-year-deal, which was always a possibility to happen once Jayco confirmed the end of sponsorship for the forthcoming campaign. To be honest, we've been prepared to this news and we're in talks with several possible partners for a few weeks now," said team manager TS Moha in a short statement prior to the Volta a Portugal's next stage: "You know it's tough right now and the sportive situation unfortunately does not play into our cards. And for now, that's quite an uncertain situation in two key areas. Relegation ain't too unrealistic anymore and of course it doesn't help to get a deal done for 2018."
With the team also heading for the East Midland Cicle Classic these days, there's still some hope for a turnaround in the sportive situation: "It ain't over, obviously. We still have some key races ahead, sure. But the past weeks didn't really go too well, to say at least. It's time for a proper result, that could potentially attract sponsors as well. Of course we all want this project to continue - but we need funding. And funding is easier to find, when it's clear in which division the team would be run next year."

Terrible times for the team recently, with lots of underperformances and bad luck with crashes, and both naming sponsors stepping down. The risk of relegation is now surprisingly high, something i could not expect after Morton's Giro podium, so hopefully the team returns to a good form in the last part of the season to avoid the disaster
Anyway, will be looking forward to know which will be your new sponsor for next season
