That elusive win, SotD was so hopeful of. Congrats man! Huge achievment
I was hoping to see Tenorio snatch a breakaway win to salvage his Tour, but t'was not meant to happen.
Phinney is indeed a legendary rider, such panache.
Annoying and forgetful race for us. Vinhas was invisible.

Last chance to gain time on Yates off course did not work, cant make that much time in the TT but would not be surprised if Yates increasing time on Wellens instead he is only one stat better in TT.
I mean he ride as good as Wellens or better in almost every mountains stage even if Wellens is 2 stats better there with 81 vs 79 and identical
Backups stats despite Yates having much better ACC stat guess that is very very important.
Anyway Top 10 seems secured and that means we managed to get top 10 in all 3 GTs this season whit a fast check its only my team and just Yates and Monsalve from Ayubowan who achived that, always something |

Right. So this was better than expected...
Winning the l'Alpe d'Huez is a huge achievement, claiming what seems to be a sufficient amount of time to win the race, aswell as taking a big step towards the points jersey (atleast 2nd should be safe) with also 3rd in the KOM.
If Vasyliv had been here aswell it would have been the perfect race to get 3 riders inside top 30, with probably him doing 20-22nd, aswell as 4th in the U25 and atleast 2nd in the Team GC. Those things are minor, however, if Spilak indeed manages to win the TdF to make it my first ever Grand Tour win, despite having had several top riders attempting in the past.
3 minutes should be too much for Phinney, and if it isn't it will be devastating to say the least.
In terms of finally getting the win I guess I should be thankful for the misfortune of Taaramäe, but obviously I am not. It was his race to win, and it was pure bad luck for it not to happen. But this race has proved that the crash ratio is simply too high. So many strong riders have fully or partially gotten their race destroyed, which for quite some teams lead to a severe lack of points that they should rightfully have gotten.
My PT candidate-rival, Moser being among those! Others much worse, however.
I will be looking forward to seeing if it can really be true, that we can win the Tour de France, but I have tried crashing out of a Grand Tour in the last couple of stages before, and I have also tried to lose a top GC spot literally on the line due to a rider crashing out 2-3km before the race ended. So nothing is safe yet!

Damn. Sbaragli also OTL. So the thrilling question if he is sprinting is unfortunately answered early.
Great effort by Dekker today though taking the 10th spot in the GC. Definitely a huge up and down race by him.
Koep chasing in the group for Dekker was today the highlight of the stage.
Proves me right to pay for Koep year for year.
56th in GC just closely missing the top50 but it was yet another nice GT triple season for Koep. Twice as only mountain helper.
Congrats SotD. Spilak in the end showed he is 85 climber. Good for you and will make the league a bit closer. |

Congrats SotD, I doubt Phinney will be able to catch Spilak now, in the end he was the strongest rider. I wish we could've given him a better fight... Rein will be back to win a GT next year, might have to sign some better help for him as well.
I can't see Rein getting a podium now, unless Gesink has a -5 day in the TT, and I doubt that. Will most likely catch Amador, but 4th is a big dissapointment. No matter what. Luckily the stage wins help a bit

Vanderbeast and Polivoda still in the race! Lost Golovash only, so someone else will have to take his role, probably Pibernik...
Scarponi very close to a second GT top 25 this season, hé wouldve been a good shot for the most consistent triple GT...

Another good effort by Guldhammer, who has really proved himself in this Tour, limiting his bad days in a great way, and also taking advantage of his good days compared to similar riders. 6th overall will be a brilliant result
Unfortunate to see Hoem miss the time limit though, due to his crash on stage 17, as before that, he looked set for a top 50 overall. Must say I also hoped to finish with all eight riders, which would have been very nice for this Tour, especially as seven of them looked to finish in the top 55. Now we'll have to do with "only" six
For our final rider, Trentin, it's good to see him safe through that stage as well. Obviously a mistake to bring him here, but options were limited, and maybe he can do something in the final sprint, judging by the previous sprint. Though, that's even a sprint where Phinney and Spilak could challenge due to their recovery and GC positions, I suspect.
And big congratulations, SotD! Both on the stage win and the overall win. There's nothing that can take that away from Spilak now, except for a crash. Taaramäe also again proving he would have won this race without the injury, seeing the gap to the race leader and the time he lost on the injury. |

What a disappointing cocktease performance from Spilak...
24/02/21 - kandesbunzler said “I don't drink famous people."
15/08/22 - SotD said "Your [jandal's] humour is overrated"
11/06/24 - knockout said "Winning is fine I guess. Truth be told this felt completely unimportant."

Top 25 for Scarponi seems secured, and close to the top 50 today, Vanderbiest, looks ready for 1 more sprint

Again a good TT for Haig and he gained two minutes on Yates 31 minutes, maybe something is possible tomorrow?

Congratulations SotD! Barring any catastrophe of course, a well deserved winner and yet another proof that moaning does help sometimes
Arndt secured his 17th spot, which isn't bad but not backed up by a single additional point in GC, KoM, white or teams.
Demare really saved our butt here, and I hope he can deliver one more time. Last year, he nearly won on the Champs, so he should be well prepared for the pressure.

Please, no events in the last stage.
I guess a podium and the team rankings here is very good. On the other hand, no top 20 for Brambi and no stage win is disappointing.

This was always going to be the realistic time gap, hence the ambition of leading by atleast 2'30" going into the TT.
Taaramäe showing that the win was rightfully his, and that he is the most likely winner of 2018.
Now we need to avoid any disasters in the final stage. Not only for Spilak, but for every other GC rider aswell. There have been plenty of crashes to determine the race as a whole.
Spilak in a position where he could take anything from 1-3 in the points competition. Winning it would be absolutely amazing, while 2nd is probably more likely seeing Phinneys level in the sprints.
The best possible solution would be a top 15 with only sprinters, including Alaphilippe. But it is likely to be a mixture of all sorts of riders with a good kick trying.

Congrats SotD!
Solid by our guys, making 4 riders in Top 41 is fine only hoped that Cort Nielsen would do better but the other hand Blikra did a bit better then expected.
Can Reimer and Vedel Kvist do something on Champs Elysees maybe? |

Congratulations on another stage win, Heine! Eventhough you miss the GC win, this race has still been very productive in terms of points, and should see you have no problems staying in the PT. That's a good thing, as relegation due to a single crash would have been painful.
Also a TT above expected from Guldhammer. His Tour really has been great, not spectacular in any way, but consistent and good, which is greatly appreciated Nesset sitting 19th overall is also good, and should mean a solid GT run with 26th, 26th and 19th, if he comes home safe tomorrow.
And thank you for that TT report, Aquarius97! Really enjoyed it, as you made it kind of tense for a bit there, with Taaramäe flying and also Phinney doing very well from the start. |

Congrats SotD, it's finally going to happen for you!
Not really happy with last two stage results. Hirt tried, but failed quite a bit. Really bad TT from him. And Sagan? Quite a sad story after all. His amazing season also ruined by falls and injuries. Hopefully these falls to him here or in Colombo or to Hirt and few others in Vuelta won't be the difference... Likely losing our lead after TdF (just my educated guess though!) - really need some good results, especially from Vakoc in PTHC races!

I don't really wanna comment on any GC results yet because we've all seen already too many crashes to rely on them having stopped already. Instead I only want to say that MVS has to get me another win on the final stage despite the lack of support to make up for his bad race and season so far.
A Big Thank You To All MG Reporters!
