Regarding my own team, I had quite some hopes in Scotson to score more seeing his palmares in Australian NCs, which basically is full of podiums and wins in past 3 years of U23 and elite in both TT and RR.
Unfortunately BMC somehow screwed up and all Gerrans, Dennis, Scotson were non-finishers.
Not seeing much points by him neither in the TdU, so points must come from others I guess.
A shame Bennett used up his energy to chase down attacks in the last few kms. Comforting to know that Clarke can get lower top 10s for me here too
24/02/21 - kandesbunzler said “I don't drink famous people."
15/08/22 - SotD said "Your [jandal's] humour is overrated"
11/06/24 - knockout said "Winning is fine I guess. Truth be told this felt completely unimportant." [PT] Xero Racing
The Tour Down Under, Vuelta a San Juan and La Tropicale Amissa Bongo all have pretty good provisional startlists by now, which are unlikely to change a lot. So here the overview which should be 90-100% correct.
Tour Down Under
2018-01-16 - 2018-01-21
jandal7 and ember impressively lead the league in number of riders in the TdU. Nine and eight riders for those teams while AbishekLFC (6), OZrocker & sutty68 (5) follow.
Only non participant in the first WT event of the year is ivaneurope.
Some of the top draftable riders are at the start including the very best with Elia Viviani, hence jaxika also deserves a mention early on just like NicoVirenque with 4 time stage winner in 2017: Caleb Ewan.

Vuelta a San Juan Internacional
2018-01-21 - 2018-01-28
ivaneurope might not have been in the TdU but he is sending the most riders to Argentine for the different start into the season. Only trekbmc with 4 coming close, then several with 1-3 riders and in AbishekLFC, NicoVirenque, Ollfardh and roturn 4 non participants.
With Gaviria and Majka some of the best San Juan starters are expected to deliver big points for ivaneurope and baseballlover312.
Different to the TdU, where the Aussies are known to be in top form already, the San Juan starters use to be challenged a lot by the home riders from the South American CT teams, that peak for that race.
- 29% of the peloton are in the Fantasy League

La Tropicale Amissa Bongo
2018-01-15 - 2018-01-21
The Tropicale Amissa Bongo mainly having a lot of African National Squads but some European teams use to start their season in Gabon for some tough stages with a hard to control peloton.
One name surely is no surprise: Yohann Gene, winner of 2013 and 2017 and record winner with 7 stage wins with couple more podiums is back in 2018 and surely will score again for baseballlover312.
Other than that just 6 riders of the league are here on 5 teams. Petit already a race expoert as well with 1 GC win in 2016 and 4 stage wins and hence yet another top favourite.

For those Race Result might come at one point but it will be small league participations only and no startlists around until the first stage.
Early season races are always interesting, thanks for that Roturn!
TDU is an interesting race for us, I still think Canty has the right early season legs for Australian racing, ready to top 10, but we'll see. Nava could be an intersting rider too, profiles in this race might suit him quite a bit. Debusschere will be on Lead-out duties I guess as our last rider.
I didn't actually realise we had a good squad at San Juan though, if Nizzolo has the legs he should up for lots of his traditional 2nd places. Atapuma and Siutsou could have a good race too.
Hope to see my Costa Rican übertalent Kevin Rivera show his "better than Bernal" credentials in Venezuela. Happy to have Pippo in San L̶u̶i̶s̶ L̶u̶i̶s̶ L̶u̶i̶s̶ L̶u̶i̶s̶ Juan but he's not going to shine yet.
Hope the TDU went well for me with four in the top 11 but really not expecting loads from the final tallies there - not considering I had 9 riders!

The Tour Down Under saw a somewhat surprising win by sutty68`s Daryl Impey and hence the South African totally dominated the CQ ranking by scoring twice as much as the next rider Slagter (OZrocker), who did well in his Dimension Data debut followed by Caleb Ewan (NicoVirenque), who was okay but not as dominant as in 2017.
jandal7 then with impressive depth scoring on the next spots with Devenyns, G.Izagirre, Guerreiro, G.Bennett.
This depth gives jandal8 actually the race win over GC winner sutty68 but just by 10 points. Anyway both basically scored twice the amount of the following teams starting with home manager OZrocker and NicoVirenque.
ember and AbishekLFC couldn`t take many points with their big amount of participating riders as jandal7 did, while ivaneurope is the only 0 pointer, though without and participant.
The weakest 5 scoring teams here only had finishing points by their riders and hence need to improve.

After McCarthy cracked in the TdU on Willunga Hill, he showed his class later in Australia by winning the Cadel Evans Road Race. Aquarius97 takes big profit of this. Yet again jandal7 with the incredible depth he had in the Aussie summer races coming close. Devenyns again his top scorer with an great early form but also Arndt did well in the race, he had won last year.
Other than that Viviani scored nicely for jaxika by coming in 2nd and by the look of it, it was just the start of a great season for him.
Last but not least sutty68 with Impey, who podiumed here and was THE rider of the Australian start into the season.
A race hard to predict as South American PCT teams use to be strong here while many top riders usually are not in form yet and just use it as start into their season.
Hence not the biggest surprise to see an undrafted Argentine taking the win here with Gonzalo Najar.
The best league particpant is the always up there and never ending Oscar Sevilla, who was 2nd in the GC and hence a nice pick for ivaneurope. Torres in 4th also his rider and hence a great start into the season for him by winning his first race of the year.
Majka was one of the top riders and by finishing 5th he at least scored some valuable points for baseballlover312 while Benoot had a fantastic race for matt17br as well.
Sprinter wise Gaviria got a stage for ivaneurope while his team mate Richeze (jseadog1) though outscored him. Best sprinter though was Nizzolo for trekbmc.

Small fields in both Tachira and Gabon. More scoring in later though with ivaneurope winning his 2nd January event as veteran Nocentini did very well here while NicoVirenque came close with Gaudin.
Tachira was a close fight between jandal7 and jaxika. Though 7 vs 6 in the end does not deliver much for them.

The 4 "classics" on Mallorca saw ollfardh`s Degenkolb taking the crown by winning 2 of them.
Wellens for Marcovdw and Skujins for Aquarius97 were the other winners of one of the races and hence the best individuals behind the German.
Team wise though matt17br did a good job with the depth of Enger, Ligthard and De Buyst and podiums behind Ollfardh and Marcovdw.

The GP Marseillaise saw Geniez scoring most for NicoVirenque while Eiking and Calmejane did decent as well for hillis91 and Croatia14.
Most races have been covered in the last post. Some additionally with smaller scorings also took place and some went into February and hence won`t be covered in the update below and hence need to wait another ~2 weeks until the 2nd ranking update.

sutty68 is leading the January Rankings due to the huge start of the year for Daryl Impey. In fact he already scored 12% of his team`s 2017 total, which is a great way to start the season.
jandal7 coming close due to his depth and is just 39 points behind while hte next teams already have a ~100 points gap.
NicoVirenque, Aquarius97 and Ollfardh all with 9-10% of last years score as well which is the big difference between the actual top5 and all teams behind, who are 1-5% only.
At the bottom dominox, Tamijo and roturn. But gaps are small and races to come are plenty.
Impey is the best in January and in especially when comparing his 2017 CQ at the same time! McCarthy and Ewan about the same as last year actually while the following riders also had a much better start into the season or a different race schedule of course.
Mainly the different race schedule explains why Chaves or Valls belong to the riders that had a much better start into the year 2017, while others struggled to repeat their 2017 performances such as Haas (-235) or Dennis (-119).

Impey and J.Moreno actually are the first riders that passed their 2017 CQ already with their January performances. Quite impressive. Baska and Devenyns already close to it. Will be interesting to see if it was some kind of early season peak or if they can continue with good results over the next couple of months and hence prove to become excellent picks.
Interesting in that list Nizzolo at 50% already due to the gamble on him. Only on 33 points yet and hence hard to say if the team change pays out for trekbmc.
Riders that are expected to perform well in the GTs and already did well early on might be Gesink at 32% or Bennett at 17%.
Information: Right now I need to get myself updated after my vacation and most probably will only post startlists and race scorings for World Tour events and some HC events in future as those use to have biggest starting fields and scorings, while the .1 events usually are strongest in early season races only as preperation.
Depending on fields though I might add those events as well at times. Though I won`t make it for the events having passed already e.g. Dubai Tour, Etoile Besseges or Valenciana.
For the moment next races on my list are probably Oman, Andalucia, Algarve and Abu Dhabi Tour and Omloop Het Nieuwsblad (potentially with Kuurne Brussel Kuurne as HC event) later this month. Those are most likely to get startlist information pre race and scoring update post race as also then the February update at the end of the month with all CQ scorings between 28/01 and 28/02 then.
Edited by roturn on 13-02-2018 07:19
Sutty leading with Impey was to be expected. Happy with my top 5 so far, although I don't like being beaten in the % rankings
Thanks for the update! I'm really ok with only previewingthe most important races (and if I had to chose, I'd pick ranking updates over previews).

I knew that McCarthy's win in CEGORR would give some great points, but didn't expect to be fourth at this point
And February started well with Chaves winning Herald Sun Tour, and Coquard... well scoring something. And also Dayer's stage win in Colombia yesterday.

Three 2.HC events just take place with the Tour of Oman actually already had their first stage yesterday.
Then Andalucia with the start of Froome but also the league`s #1 pick Mikel Landa and in fact a strong league line up with most top riders being drafted.
Then Algarve as 3rd race with the opposite as the strongest riders weren`t draftable but still some big names for the league.
Tour of Oman
2018-02-13 - 2018-02-18
matt17br is leading with 6 starting riders, though not the strongest for the GC probably.
In general the top GC riders might be not from this league but some riders surely with a good shot, which would be Kudus (roturn), Roche (OZrocker), Visconti (hillis91) or Devenyns (jandal7).
Sprinter wise a better league field as Cavendish and Blythe both are in form for sutty68, Coquard already won stage 1 for Aquarius97 while also Wippert, Haas, Van Lerberghe, Andersen, Walscheid or Felline could be named.
- 37% of the Oman peloton are in the Fantasy League
- Top Sprinters: M.Cavendish, B.Coquard, A.Blythe
- Top GC: M.Kudus, N.Roche, G.Visconti
- Others: D.Devenyns, J.P.Drucker, E.Theuns, G.Izagirre, N.Terpstra, N.Haas, F.Felline
Vuelta a Andalucia Ruta Ciclista Del Sol
2018-02-14 - 2018-02-18
As said a big starting field here for the league. In especially at the top where basically just Froome was undraftable.
jseadog1 with Landa and hillis91 with LL Sanchez probably the big favourites here.
Also ivaneurope with Fuglsang, Marcovdw with Wellens or ember with Poels having good shots of a high GC.
Sprinter wise it might mainly be Modolo vs. Naesen. As both are in dominox`s team, he could be a big scorer as well.
Closer spread throughout the league. hillis91 with 6 riders but then couple others with 4-5 riders. Only matt17br is a non-participant here in Andalucia.
- 41% of the peloton are in the Fantasy League
- Top Sprinters: S.Modolo, O.Naesen, K.Sbaragli
- Top GC: M.Landa, T.Wellens, LL.Sanchez, J.Fuglsang, W.Poels
- Others: S.Kruijswijk, D.de la Cruz, B.Hermans, A.M.Antunes, R.Taaramae
Volta ao Algarve em Bicicleta
2018-02-14 - 2018-02-18
Lots of riders were not draftable here with includes GC riders Porte, Kwiatkowski, Mollema or Martin as also the sprinters Demare, Boasson Hagen or Groenewegen. Hence bigger points might be scored elsewhere.
But still some valuable riders from this league such as Degenkolb (Ollfardh) for the sprints or GC wise Thomas (hillis91), Teuns (OZrocker), Meintjes (roturn), TVG (Aquarius97), Jungels (dominox), Spilak (dominox) or Oomen (Ollfardh).

- 41% of the peloton are in the Fantasy League
- Top Sprinters: J.Degenkolb, J.Stuyven, B.Swift
- Top GC: G.Thomas, T.VanGarderen, L.Meintjes, S.Spilak, S.Oomen, B.Jungels
- Others: D.Teuns, Z.Stybar, Y.Lampaert, R.Guerreiro, S.Gerrans, T.Martin
Walscheid as sprint leader in Oman already with a decent start as 5th while I have high hopes that Kudus can be similar strong as last year in February when he got a 4th in the GC.
Andalucia more a hope. De Tier and Pardilla in theory could show something while I have no idea who Owsian is (shame on me) and Sprengers hasn`t shown a lot after 2015.
Algarve then again high hopes in Meintjes for the GC while Roelandts and Thwaites probably won`t score really.
Devenyns, Izagirre, Amador, Taaramae, Anton, Guerrerio and Smith all more than capable in february for us (plus Laporte generally killing it). Don't mind Huffman and Clarkey especially as wild cards in Andalucia
