Shame about how the result played out in the end, but very pleased to see Gastauer being so aggressive. I'd rather a race like that, than something like Kelderman, less active and only a couple of places better off. If only he and Ginanni had linked up from the start, before they could have stayed away and wrapped the podium up. Top 5 was surely deserved, but at least a Top 10 was secured.
Pity that Van der Lijke made the peloton but finished 3 from the back, rather than 3 from the front - it ought to have been a chance for him to pick up some minor points. Thanks for the report jandal, and congrats to PCT teams Grieg, Carlsberg and Meiji for picking up some good points and placings.

EBH back to winning ways Congratulations, tastasol!
Also very, very happy and kind of surprised by Dyrnes' result. For some reason he continues to overperform, just like he did last year. Beltran's race was another disappointment, being poorly placed and invisible, but that's easy to forget when Dyrnes punches well above his weight
And thank you for another top notch report, jandal7 |

Not a good race for us. Was hoping to place a couple guys around 20th but Ignatiev best in 29th.
Barbin 77th and Palini 113th is awful.

There was a reason I got rid of Palini, he should be way better than he is with 78 hill and no back-up deficiencies, occasionally he finds some form but really he is below what he should be.

14th is an improvement but still kinda disappointing given this is a reduced field. Pick it up Lutsenko.
Thanks for the report.

12th place with fall in the worst moment? I take that.
Thanks for the report and congrats to all Nordic based teams, what a race for all of them!

Pretty decent from Hagen to snatch up the win today. Just shows that when push comes to shove he is the elite puncher. Even among his former PT compatriots.

Nice to see Hagen deliver where it counts!
Peter Sagan yet again shows his strength to win the sprint for 12th after crashing at a critical moment. He would have landed atleast 5th if not for the crash. I uges hus win and his crash level out eachother in terms of expected points.
Ben Gastauer yet again punished by his weak sprint, despite being very aggressive. That must be a bit worrysome. Also Lutsenko surprisingly weak in the intro.

Lutsenko and McCarthy not giving much hope with their performance here. Quite underperforming for their PT managers while also Schreurs couldn`t justify his TdU performance and once again below his expectations.
Sagan crashed but still 12th. Would say, this is still rather impressive and shows his strength this season. Unlucky but looking good for his future races.
The race itself played out nicely with lots of attacks and EBH clearly a level ahead and hence deserved winner. Unfortunate though really that the next attackers around Ginanni/Gastauer mainly weren`t rewarded really.
One reason might be the monster performance of a +5 day by Dyrnes I guess. Was he chasing them down and winning the sprint for 2nd? Not bad at all.
By the look of the results I guess De Bie had liked this race with a decent sprint. That said if Badaling shows vital, then De Bie might have been in that Lutsenko/McCarthy loser group... |

In the end a non-factor as expected. Though I notice that in both the classics I have had riders in the breakaway. Considering breakaways is a numbers game I should some time during the season get a surprise result from this and I like that.

Eddy Boss showing who's the man. Way too cool for the rest of them
Sorry for my kiss of death on Sagan, Roman, but he just won't let himself get jinxed.
Thanks for the report, jandal. Lots of nice details in there!

Very nice move by Ginanni! Shame he got caught right before the line, but good to see him so eager.
Congrats on the Hagen win.

Was a fairly good result in the end, although seeing Hagen win is going to get tiring for us quickly Hatanaka with an especially good effort.

23rd and 25th is really disappointing for us in our home race - I fear PCM may be having the dual leader issue it did last year, despite Bellis clearly being much weaker. Thanks for the report jandal! |

Great report, but I have to ask did you only count the riders on Ayubowan! ?
No way my own Sri Lankan Manamalage would miss his home race, even though it doesn't fit his specialities at all.
Very disappointing result for my team. I had hoped for more from Moazemi. To see Sirironnachai hold on for so long is great, but very unfortunate it didn't result in a higher finish.
Congrats to tastasol and Eddie Boss! |
