Even though I dont like him - I believe he might be right. Its AAF not positive finding and that drug is not steroid or does not have any pretty significant benefits. But maybe he would not have dropped Nibali hadnt he used it in a such amount
This all doesn`t matter at all though.
There is a maximum amount allowed and once you go higher (and it`s twice as high, which is basically impossible to reach with just inhalating) you need to be punished if you can`t find a potential reason for reaching that amount without any wrong-doings.
As said, inhalating is barely the possibility for the amount and hence he now is in need of a better explanation.
If he can`t find any, there is no other chance than a ban.
Ulissi/Petacchi got around 6-12 months. Same likely would happen to Froome.
I personally don`t understand why it`s just 6-12 months and not 2 years as with other stuff. This couple months here and couple months there seems very vague and not as it should be handled imo. |

Well. I will only add one thing from myself. When I read about Froome I was like "I knew it". But after everything I read here, on other forums and cycling pages, I'm certain that there are only 2 possibilities:
1) Nothing will happen to Froome because it's Froome, Team Sky and others like that;
2) He will get 6 months ban counting from that Vuelta stage which will mean he will be 100% ready for a Giro-Tour double.
If there will be something different - I'll be surprised. |

To add to Selwink's and roturn's posts:
- Salbutamol's maximum daily dose is around 800µg/day
- WADA's limit is the double of that: 1600µg/day - which corresponds to 1000ng/mL in urine concentration
- Froome's salbutamol urine concentration was 2000ng/mL
So, yeah he just didn't stumble upon an inhaler.
Also to the ones saying this is just an isolated case, which doesn't condemn the whole team Sky, let us all remember the cases of Leinders, Henao, Tiernan-Locke and the jiffy bag.

it has an effect when taking such an overdose, see selwink's comment. plus it worrks as masking agent (think clenbuterol case of contador)
It's not clear cut how good Salbutamol is as a masking agent, certainly there are far better agents available than it to mask something.
From what i know, if you're doing that high an amount of Salbutamol it's not to mask something but to benefit from the improved breathing and steroid effects.

As i remember it, the new stricter anti-doping rules for bans have only come in over the last year or two. After those previous convictions were handed out. So whilst they provide a guide on possible ban times for Froome, rules have changed to make a bigger impact.
That said historically Salbutamol convictions are all over the place.
Olesek Mariusz got 2 years in 2007, Pettachi got 1 in the same year for the same thing.
Ulissi got 9 months in 2014. Matteo Trentin got 2 months in 2007. Matt White got 2 months in 1998. Laurent Madouas got 1 month in 1994. Eric Berthou got a single race DQ in 2002. Christoph Gerschweiler got a DQ in 2007. David Garbelli got a DQ in 2006.
Eric Berthou (again), Ger Soeperberg, Leonardo Piepoli, Oscar Pereiro, Mederic Clain, Igor Gonzalez de Galdeano, Miguel Indurain, Franco Ballerini, Bo Hamburger and Alex Zulle all got cleared for medical reasons or no sanction.
(btw, Pereiro's was in 06, guess what he did in that year)
(Indurain's was in 94, guess what he did in that year)

Literally. Urine is for maybe dopers. They're stepping it up in July.
24/02/21 - kandesbunzler said “I don't drink famous people."
15/08/22 - SotD said "Your [jandal's] humour is overrated"
11/06/24 - knockout said "Winning is fine I guess. Truth be told this felt completely unimportant."

I think every team in the professional peloton has some form of black mark against them historically in terms of doping/drug use, not just Sky. No team is 100% clean.
Also:
Jiffy Bag - No Evidence, case dismissed.
Henao - Suspended by Sky as part of team policy, no formal suspension given
Tiernan-Locke - Failed drug test before joining Sky
Leinders - Banned for activity prior to Joining Sky

Some more good news from elsewhere...
https://www.cyclin...ign=buffer
Lobato, Tolhoek and Eenkhoorn sent home from LottoNL-Jumbo training camp and expelled 'indefinitely' for possessing sleep medication not approved by the team.
Might just be an honest mistake, and hopefully is, but one can never be sure!

Wonder if he knows how many times he would have needed to inhalate to get this amount though.
Sometimes it`s better to not say anything before saying something stupid that is quickly coming back at you. |

He could have literally tweeted anything, and yet, he chose to post that.
I don't even dislike him that much, but he's easily the least charismatic top sportsman today

So what about Lance Armstrong getting an invite as a special guest for Ronde Van Vlaanderen next year? With all the Froome news, we'd forget about that other career doper
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.
