This is really bad. AI heard me to let Sbaragli do the 3km work and Van der Sanden later but this corner then totally ruined the position.
Definitely need 1 stage win to probably take the GC podium.
2 wins to get even a chance on the win goal.
What a surprising but huge win for Carlsberg though. Big points incoming in PTHC event with top PT competition. |

Good to see Holloway bothering a bit more. Just need to get positioning right and we could be in for a good result here.

84 ACC comes in clutch, finally. Maksimov means business this season.
Don't think I've ever had a season where a pure sprinter scored decently in the individual rankings. Looks like all the hilly training with Maksimov is finally paying off.
Now watch as he let's me down again in the next two stages...

What a surprise win! Congratulations, bbl That surely gives hope for other sprinters with a "green" acceleration, sub-80.
Degenkolb hanging on to yellow was expected, but what a frustrating race this is so far for Swift. He really needs another gear to prove he's the best sprinter of the game, like he arguably did in Qatar. Though, he still got a chance of winning the race, as the GC still is very tight with nine riders within 25 seconds, or one stage win. |

Great to see Guarnieri taking the win! Congrats Shonak Some very interesting and thight sprints, and some great reports to broadcast them.
Looks very interesting in the GC now. Maksimov look set for a great result for Newton, could be important for the promotion battle.

Screw up. When we finally set up a train we decide to follow another train?
With weaker leadouts IMO. Always thought high FL stat would do good, 75 FL on both my leadouts.
And Ahlstrand makes his "no show" stage as predicted and drops down to 7th hope he can show something else in the last stage.
And of course Ludvigsson who had a great 12th place in GC looses over 7 minutes on this stage... Guess he Wetterhall and Johansson did much work infront today but Ahlstrand did not really thank them very well.. |

I feel with you. It's a shocker. As said in the reports, there was no crash (at least I couldn't spot any even in a replay). Dunno for whatever reasons he's not amongst those showing interest in joining the sprint trains. With his positioning, a Top-10 is still a good result though... but it's a shame for your team. Really.

Finishing 10th will assure that he finishes around 20th in gc should he again be not interested in positioning (which I nearly expect now) which is the only slightly positive thing I can take from here so far. Third stage here that he did not bother positioning after already being a major disappointment in Qatar. Really bothers me and makes me fear for the rest of the season. Despite San Remo this could end up a disaster season for him.
And if pcm doesn't see him as a favourite why does no-one from my team even try to attack ?
A Big Thank You To All MG Reporters!

Yes Debesay! KoM jersey and time bonuses for a GC position, picking up more than I could have expected from Van Heerden in this race.
Going early is a good tactic for JVH's skill set, but as Nelson and others are highlighting in La Tropicale also, it just doesnt work. Consistency ensures a reasonable GC spot, but any time bonus would be nice.
Thanks for the reporting tsmoha.

Horrific sprinting from Lo Cicero so far. The last two stages the train have been in position but still he can't even deliver a top 10

This is just ridiculously close! 10 seconds between 1st and 6th with just one more stage to go.
Despite starting in 2nd, taking 9th and then up to 4th Coquard have dropped back each stage. Atleast this 4th place should seal the top 10 GC result baring any disasters in the final stage.
James Piccoli did well to attempt to get both bonifications and KOM points, but unfortunately wasn't allowed away. That would have been an amazing bonus. 6th in the KOM gives little points, but we didn't expect any so we will take that.
I'm looking forward to, and fearing, that last stage. Georgos Tzortzakis did an amazing GC here last year taking 3rd. Coquard won't do that, but with some luck 5th could be achievable.

I´m not happy with stages 2 & 3, but with last stage coming Dege still sits in comfortable position. With such small margins it can happen anything, however it´d be pity to lose the race against 81 or 82 sprinter Congrats Shonak and bbl, nice wins for your teams!
Btw what happened to Merino Criado? His absence in the main bunch could easily cause absence of our sprint train

OMG, Guarnieri you beauty. Keep it together and we may leave here with a little miracle. Can't wait for the next report. Thanks for the great, speedy coverage, tsmoha.

4th and just 6s off in the GC means, a win on the final day could still make this race very successful.
So far it`s rather disappointing. It just seems weird to see sprinters without a train being faster and Swift waiting and waiting until it`s too late to pass the others again while normally having the best position. Just leave 300m earlier and you win...
Congrats to Guarnieri. Really weird race with another winner every day (yes, Swift, your chance tomorrow). Main reason why the GC is still wide open.
Thanks for the reports, tsmoha. Really nice to follow the sprint lineup with all those graphics and pics. |
