Quite a lot of racing in February including the huge tripcle clash, which makes a good planning absolutely needed.
In additional to Paris Nice, Tirreno and Grand Duche also the first monument of the season with Milan San Remo as also the Omloop Het Nieuwsblad PTHC event for some teams.
Let`s start with this smaller event. Strava dominated in the PCT and they continue fairly well here being top scorer on the cobbles. Also Evonik, Ayubowan and Pendleton`s did very well here.
Milan San Remo saw a hill sprinter and puncheur event this season. Hence the pure sprinter teams pretty much failed to score here. Instead it`s Evonik to top the ranking and also Pendleton`s and Becherovka were doing fine. Puma, Porto, RBC to name some other top scorers.
Then the triple race clash. Three teams stood out. Pendleton`s with 762 points in those, which is more than some teams have in total!
Then Gazelle and Nemiroff also with more than 650. In comparison, Wiesenhof as struggling team early on with 159 points only while the average is around 450 points.
More race specific. Nemiroff dominated Tirreno with 521 points there. This is by far the best and only RBC with 389 coming close.
Paris Nice it was Pendleton`s doing best followed by Aegon and Strava.
Grand Duche was one for Moser. Vesuvio, who had a really bad month, at least scored well in their home race with also Porto doing very decent.
You might have noticed already. Pendleton`s was basically mentioned everywhere. What a month they had and hence jumping up to 2nd from 21st.
Also Evonik or Gazelle with a nice jump as also Nemiroff with the much needed points.
On the downside Aegon from 3 to 7 with only a good Paris Nice, Jayco down to 10th, eBuddy from 8 to 13, Tinkoff 9 to 17 and Vesuvio surprisingly slow start down to 20th. About time Andy starts his season I guess.
| | | Team | Total | RD | Triple | PTHC | | 1 | 1 | | Moser - Sygic | 1481 | 29 | 439 | 32 | | 2 | 21 | | Pendleton's | 1241 | 31 | 762 | 131 | | 3 | 2 | | Festina - Dexia | 1220 | 29 | 554 | 18 | | 4 | 5 | | Strava | 1195 | 29 | 528 | 188 | | 5 | 4 | | Team Puma - SAP | 1093 | 29 | 458 | 73 | | 6 | 15 | | Evonik - ELKO | 1066 | 29 | 326 | 158 | | 7 | 3 | | Aegon - Lavazza | 1057 | 29 | 533 | 4 | | 8 | 14 | | Gazelle | 1045 | 29 | 697 | 82 | | 9 | 6 | | Porto - Prio | 955 | 29 | 364 | 5 | | 10 | 7 | | Jayco - Cobra9 | 940 | 29 | 535 | 125 | | 11 | 11 | | Spotify - Haglöfs | 871 | 29 | 387 | 82 | | 12 | 18 | | Nemiroff - ABBYY | 859 | 29 | 653 | 30 | | 13 | 8 | | eBuddy | 841 | 29 | 372 | 62 | | 14 | 22 | | RBC Pro Cycling | 803 | 27 | 551 | 0 | | 15 | 16 | | Hugo Boss | 802 | 29 | 463 | 0 | | 16 | 12 | | Iberia - Team Degenkolb | 773 | 29 | 343 | 95 | | 17 | 9 | | Tinkoff Sport Academy | 765 | 27 | 366 | 0 | | 18 | 20 | | Ayubowan! | 761 | 31 | 379 | 133 | | 19 | 10 | | Aker - MOT | 751 | 29 | 400 | 117 | | 20 | 13 | | Vesuvio - Accumalux | 601 | 29 | 337 | 37 | | 21 | 19 | | Wiesenhof - Andritz | 399 | 31 | 159 | 68 | | 22 | 17 | | Project: Africa | 209 | 29 | 10 | 0 | *no Chrone Herbiers. February only.
Seeing the top of the individuals it`s nopt surprising why Moser is that dominant. Bewley at the top with Sagan on the podium as well. Just being seperated by Ben Swift, who seems to have his mojo back being the top sprinter so far in 2017, which mainly is due to Degenkolb not having his 2016 form yet with Mohs no longer as his leadout.
Pluchkin already up to 4th with a big mark while Lutsenko also a nice positive for Pendleton`s. Biggest surprise probably Borges in 14th and also Roelandts doing extraordinarily well since his Pendleton`s days.
| 1 | Sam Bewley | NZL | | Moser - Sygic | 636 | | 2 | Ben Swift | GBR | | Aegon - Lavazza | 580 | | 3 | Peter Sagan | SVK | | Moser - Sygic | 489 | | 4 | Aleksandr Pluchkin | MOL | | Nemiroff - ABBYY | 469 | | 5 | Jan Bakelants | BEL | | Strava | 445 | | 6 | Alexey Lutsenko | KAZ | | Pendleton's | 418 | | 7 | Simone Ponzi | ITA | | Hugo Boss | 384 | | 8 | Yuri Trofimov | RUS | | Tinkoff Sport Academy | 361 | | 9 | Jack Bobridge | AUS | | Jayco - Cobra9 | 344 | | 10 | Francesco Ginanni | ITA | | Gazelle | 344 | | 11 | Michael Van Stayen | BEL | | Evonik - ELKO | 334 | | 12 | Taylor Phinney | USA | | RBC Pro Cycling | 325 | | 13 | John Degenkolb | GER | | Iberia - Team Degenkolb | 297 | | 14 | Bruno Borges | POR | | Porto - Prio | 268 | | 15 | Jurgen Roelandts | BEL | | Pendleton's | 255 | | 16 | Ben Gastauer | LUX | | Vesuvio - Accumalux | 251 | | 17 | Joseph Dombrowski | USA | | Pendleton's | 244 | | 18 | Bryan Coquard | FRA | | Festina - Dexia | 238 | | 19 | Ian Boswell | USA | | eBuddy | 220 | | 20 | Toms Skujins | LAT | | Evonik - ELKO | 220 |

Sittning safetly in 11th so far Im more then happy about that.
Ahlstrand a few pts beyond Coquard and Avelino shows he can step it up IMO. Aswell as same pts as Guarnieri.
Haugaard Jensen on the other hand 33rd is better then expected.
I fear the day Taaramae and Andy start to race, aswell our neighbors in Norway showing their depth on cobbles.
Our honeymoon is soon over and that middleplace is all gone I suppose
Thanks for the update! |

Underperforming in Herbiers and missing out on a podium in Nice, crashing himself to a 15th place in T-A.. surely not the best month for Jayco. Pais Vasco simply has to go better and hopefully Vanspeybrouck will be a regular Top-10 contender on the cobbles.

I already knew it wasn't great, but this is pretty bad. Still only 175 points difference between myself and 10th place. Luck will be on our side eventually!

Might have overperformed in Paris Nice with Swift getting this one bonus stage win.
But underperforming in almost all other races sees us dropping.
Crashing in Tirreno, just 5 pointers in MSR with Swift included, no scorer in Grand Duche and weak Omloop saw us having a bad month in total. Surely needs to be better soon, though the amount of cobbles will clearly see us dropping further next 2 month, hence the other races must give us fair points. |

Looking good for Strava. Also good to see Moser at the very top spot.
Hope Iberia pick up their game and by that I mean Degenkolb

Time for Blythe to get stuff done. I hope a lot of points will come late into the season for us, but regardless we need more separation from the midfield, and March should be a good month for that.

I thought we'd had a reasonably good month, with a top 10 in every race bar one. Clearly I was wrong |

Despite the MSR fiasco, which saw all our riders outside Top 20 (horrendous for a team with two 80+ sprinters), we had a really good February month, largely stemming from Paris-Nice and Omloop. Hoping that we get some momentum for the cobbles and the strategy of breakaway points sorta works out on the pavé (do your thing, langeveld). Other than that, 4th is the highest we will be all year, may as well enjoy it for a bit now.

Due to MSR this update looks solid but we're still behind expectations. Last season we were second at this point 111 behind 1st and same difference to the third ranked team. This season were 400 points behind 1st and 200 behind 2nd so we cannot really he satisfied with the way the season started. Big reason for that is the triple header where we've got the 2nd least points despite bigger expectations.
March will be super important as we've simply have to climb this month or else we'll be stuck in the midtable or worse after the GTs.
A Big Thank You To All MG Reporters!

It's okay I think. After Chrono we are up to 2nd less than 60 points behind Moser.
Seeing as Moser is not riding in Tour d'Afrique we have a shot at taking 1st temporarily until the cobbles start. That would be really nice. Aegon could also take on the 1st place if Swift wins in Africa and takes a couple of stagewins.

We did well this month, but the gap to the relegation zone is not as big as I had hoped at this point... Shame we wasted so many potential points in France...

A reasonable month for us. Machado's compromising crash in Tirreno could be disastrous, but Borges bailed us out with his stunning performances in Italy and Luxembourg.
It's a good buffer for us with the advent of cobbles on the horizon... unless Ferreira pulls of a Borges, that is

Must admit that's a worrying ranking update, and that's without any GTs raced. But well, we were always going to be vulnerable with Kristoff's sprinting being at the same level or worse compared to last season and Beltran struggling to prove himself on PT level.
Must admit I expected more from Beltran, but the season is long, and he'll have plenty of chances to do well. Seeing Dyrnes as our best scorer so far tells the story of our leaders that have tried their luck so far.
Hopefully we can start looking upwards and get out of the relegation zone in the upcoming cobble classics, but that will only stop the bleeding for now if we aren't able to pick up solid points on hilly and mountainous terrain.
Very nice to see Pendleton's jump all the way up to 2nd. Had them as a serious threat for the overall podium pre-season, but none of the managers I talked with about it seemed to agree. But their leaders are top quality and if they can add a couple of more overperfomances similar to Lutsenko in PN, they should do very, very well.
Thank you for the update, roturn! |

Good to see that despite feeling slightly disappointed about the triple, we did score a nice amount of points.
I think it's too early to really say anything about the position we're currently in.

Not a lot has changed in the last couple of years I see. Still same old Bewley rocking the rankings! Nice to see some former Venchi-riders doing decently as well.
Good luck to everyone in what will for sure be an exciting season!

Nice to see you around after quite some time! You see how great is Sagan now? Thanks for selling him to me!
It is great to be in the lead right now, but honestly we had a bigger advantage over Festina at this time last year. Every season is different, but dominating cobble races is an absolute must and key for another successful year for my team.
Thanks for the update.

Watching the rankings, I don´t have a good feelings about my chances to stay away from relegation. Looks like Wiesenhof, if Taaramae won´t shine, are also in big troubles.

Exactly, even though I thought it was an overpay at that time.
