I have a strange feeling that Italy will be eliminated.

hoping for Sweden, Denmark, Croatia, Switzerland

Italia could be fun, but toughest competition on paper but I guess Italy says the same about Sweden.

ringo182
Yeah, Italy V Sweden was defiantly the draw of death.

Northern Ireland were robbed by an awful penalty decision.

Switzerland were by far the better team so the score line was probably fair, however that penalty decision was a joke.

Croatia look to be through baring a major collapse in Greece.

I wouldn't say Northern Ireland was robbed, as Switzerland was the by far better team. Still the penalty decision was wrong in my opinion as well.

Great to see Croatia winning.

You can't be robbed if you can't get a single shot on target in 90mins, it's that simple. NI lost because they played badly and were totally outclassed by the Swiss.

Now as a former ref. The ball does hit the arm. Said arm is raised slightly upwards. At full speed i can see why the decision was made. But i disagree with it, it comes under the understanding that people have arms and can't remove them. It hits the arm, but he can't detach it to move it out the way.

Well they were robbed because irrelevant of how badly they played, the only goal came from a very poor refereeing decision.

If it hadn't been for that it would have been 0-0 (in theory).

I agree that the score line was justified as Switzerland were by far the better team. However the only goal came from a poor refereeing decision.

Well, here we are.

San Pedro Sula, yet another two-legged playoff against a team from the other side of the world.

Timmy Cahill just had his only starting XI appearance of the year and hurt his ankle a few minutes in. It's highly doubtful that he'll play a big role but at least we've still got magic man Mooy to provide the spark. Jedinak returns too, but the loss of Milligan and Leckie to yellow card accumulation negates that somewhat.

I don't know much about Honduras' line-up, except that I've always loved Carlo Costly's name and it will be a shame to be barracking against him. No more Wilson Palacios either, so hopefully we'll have the advantage in both class and experience.

Fingers crossed. Do us proud, boys!

We've done pretty poorly to have it run so close, but it'd be a shame to miss out, come on Aussies!

1-0 to Sweden game one. Good result.

First half we are playing well creating some decent chances but Italy creating only one and that one is better then Swedens but luckily Belotti headed beside the goal.

Italy taking over the game a bit in second half but lucky goal to Sweden by JJ shot outside penalty area that touch Italian defender and in to goal after that Italy dominated the possesion but not getting any real chances except Darmians post hit.

Veratti suspended on Monday. Will be a very tough game, would love a early goal by Marcus Berg in Milano.

0-0 draw in Honduras, which is not a bad result given our recent away form. Socceroos were probably the better of the two teams after the first ten minutes, but lacked the ability to finish off a few good chances.

On the positive side of things: Honduras only had one away victory in the qualifying rounds (over T&T), Kruse/Cahill/Leckie/Milligan all a chance to return and the home crowd in Sydney will surely prove advantageous.

On the negative side: No away goals leaves us vulnerable if they can score and we still lack strikepower up front, with Juric the only real option as an out-and-out striker.

Watched the three main games from today.
Italy were rubbish against Sweden, had something like 1 or 2 good efforts on target + Darmian hitting the post + Belotti missing a sitter. Wouldn't say Sweden deserved the goal but it means Italy will need to play differently in Milan.
The field used in the Australia Vs Honduras game was a poor excuse for a football pitch. Juric not managing to hit the target in a 1 on 1 was disappointing. Would give Australia the upper hand at 0-0.
Finally, New Zealand Vs Peru. One of the biggest games in this country for some time and certainly didn't live up to the hype. Barely any shots, Peru's best chance was from an own goal that the keeper managed to keep out. 0-0 isn't an awful result but they'll need a fit Chris Wood if they want any chance of taking a result from the hostile Lima.

Yeah, was seriously hoping we'd score, got really close a couple of times and so 0-0, whilst as you said not awful, isn't a great score to head to an away game with. Positive is we go through with a 1-1 draw, the problem is getting it Pfft

Sure hope so. Got a good feeling around Sweden national team thats been away for many years, optimistic.

But it will definitely be tough, hopefully VNL and "Granen" can clean Up in own penalty area and Keep Immobile and the rest of the Italians from the scoreboard.

From the last game it looked like Italy were missing a prolific striker, and they also played the "Italian" style of football, going for a 0-0 or 1-1 away and then winning at home. I could definitely see them failing to qualify.

Italy might be dominant after 30 min but two potential penalties for Sweden of which I think one was a must give and Chiellini having risked his second yellow.

Ref not doing that great so far imo.

How he's allowed to lead international games is really beyond me. Lahoz is the exponent of Spain's awfull referee corps.
